navychief Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I have had both sims for years on disc, and they've been on a shelf. Will they work with Windows 10? I have installed all updates/patches, but they will not work. Just very slow screens. Pete Quote
navychief Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 Thanks for the quick reply. That is really a shame! I am somewhat surprised, actually. Quote
+Geary Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I got SF1 games to work in Windows 10 when I migrated from Windows 7 but they usually crashed to desktop when coming out of a mission. To give it a try you need to first install DX9. Then try starting the games in a Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. You may need to experiment with these modes to see which if any work best for you. The consensus seems to be SF1 games don't work in Windows 10 for most people but I think there may be a few exceptions. I finally just built a Windows 7 computer and my SF1 games run fine on it. Good luck. 1 Quote
navychief Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 Hmm, seems like a lot of work for the "possibility" of the sims working in Windows 10. DCS, from what little I know about it (and I actually have it installed) is quite popular. I have been simming since around 2004. Mostly I fly FSX (carrier ops), but then happened upon SFP1 and WOV, and thought I would try installing them and flying. But it appears too much of a problem! Thanks all for your comments/advice. +streakeagle Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I don't have a Win 10 PC to experiment on, but there has to be a way to get it working. Win 8/10 isn't that much different from Win Vista/7. So what changed from 8 to 10 to break the old games? I would love to figure out the cause of the problem which might make for an easy fix/work around. Since all of my games still run well on Win 7 and none of them require Win 10, I refused the free "upgrade" to Win 10. Of course my next PC will have to be Win 10. But I can keep this Win 7 PC as a legacy machine because it runs every game I own and I started buying games with Jane's Fighters Anthology. Quote
navychief Posted January 25, 2017 Author Posted January 25, 2017 Thing is, I really like Windows 10. 'Cepting for the occasional problem such as this, I am happy with it... Pete Quote

Pete They were replaced by SF2 and SF2 Vietnam respectively....both of which do currently work on the latest Win 10 (64) okay without doing much at all (for me)...sadly the latest builds are stuck in 2013 and TK only officially supports them on Win 7. +Geary Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 EMCON360, This sounds interesting but I can't find a copy of Enbseries HDR MOD on the web. I find plenty of references to it but no where to download it that looks trustworthy. Where can it be obtained? Quote

Canadair Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Hang on, what about the CTD after mıssıons? Quote
charlielima Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 I need to do something similar to run original Ghost Recon in windows 7. I really miss that FPS. CL Quote
+Geary Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I might have traced the CTD after missions to the apphelp.dll file in Windows 10 system32 folder. It's a protected file but seems to be the fault of the CTD's after exiting missions. I'm not sure about replacing it with an older version, such as Window 7's as it might cause other Windows 10 apps to malfunction. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Quote
hunter Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Thank you, now run fine on win 10 64 bit SFP1 , WOV and WOE . Quote
UllyB Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Win 8/10 core is the same as Win7, an NT one, so with a DirectX9 library in place game should work there , too, even without Vorontsov job. Personally I don't see any major differences between Win 7 and Win 10, so for the moment I will stick with Win 7. The gaining team is never changed in a soccer game. 1 Quote
Labyrinth Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 THANK YOU!!!! Put the files in as instructed and SFP1 is now working for me on Windows 10!! (Can't live without this game - I even have DCS World installed, but just can't beat the playability and modability of the Strike Fighters series!!) Quote
Labyrinth Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Geary, did you ever find out how to fix the CTD? Gameplay works perfectly, but program sometimes crashes after the end of the mission..... Quote

It still occasionally glitches, but nothing I can't live with. Quote

Use instead Windows 7, it works well with SF1 series or you could skip the whole thing and get into SF2 series. SF2 series has real new features you won't see in Sf1 series, including A.I., graphics and more. Quote
