OK done Robert,

Some rules for posting here I think,

Keep it polite.
We have no promises on anything here at all, it's purely a wish-list (nice to have, things you'd like to see one day perhaps) like the one on Simhq.
No venting.
No bugs or errors posted here please - no "please fix this" type posts.

Maybe change the title to include BHaH II Guys?

Id like A bomb sight incorporated similar to the mod in UE/PE. :good:

Ahhhh, you have created the beast I see !!!

My Wishlist. We all know my suggestions for a bombsight, and pilots wings on completion of training.

1. Maurice Farmans of varying types

2. Morane Bullet

3. Voisin 5 & 8

4. Vickers Gunbus

5. Albatros 2 seaters

6. RAF FE 8

7. AEG G IV  and C IV loads of German 2 seaters which were commonly seen and used.

8 Hanriot HD 1

9. Belgian Squadrons.

10. Maybe some British bombers HP 0400, or Vimy, maybe .

11. Spad 2 seaters . (Spad XI)

An addon DLC for the Eastern Front, or the Italian front would be nice to see at some point as well.

Ah, ok  I left that out on purpose since it seems common that we get new releases such as UE, PE, and now BH&H II. I was trying to keep the thread more generic for WOFF as a whole.

I defer to you judgement though.

Best Regards

My wish list would be for there to be more things to do in arty spotting and photo recon missions. Also, the 0/400 and Albatros C.III.

Arty and Recon missions would be a brilliant addition Abbay, and maybe incorporate a key press to simulate taking the photos ect.

Adger, keypress? Don't we already have that with Prnt Scrn key?

We do, however I think Adger maent more of a working camera ( such as the one mounted on the BE2 ) which you have to insert a plate into, then sight, so similar in some respects to a bombing mission but in a recce mission you have to actually take a photo, or photos of a specific feature. I think maybe it could be shoehorned into the sim, but it would maybe a lot of work that the devs may not want to do, and I kind of get why . Art Obs, is handled completely incorrectly in WOFF, it was generally a single aircraft, not a flight , and the poor sod flying the mission would have to fly in figure 8's over the arty target, and send via morse where the fall of shot was going......a thankless and exceedingly boring, and no doubt horribly dangerous job.

As intimated by Trotski from Elbonia, a reasonably accurate representation of photo recon and arty spotting is a must. I know most players want to be romantic and glamorous (which it wasn't) fighter pilots but the fact is the MOST important function aerial services on both sides performed was photo recon/arty spotting. The PBI feared these guys more than anything else for it could result in thousands being shelled out of existence. The single seat fighters were more of a sideshow for amusement as viewed from the trenches. The real unsung heroes were the two-seaters plodding along day after day in horrendous and extremely dangerous conditions.

My dream is that successful photo recon or artillery directing actually has a direct bearing on the ground war with all its consequences.

This is a difficult proposition of course and probably not the direction OBD want to take, if possible at all? But one can dream ...

In the meantime I fly the Be2c under the hypnotic and slightly made gaze of Capt. Triggers preparing to do my duty. When duty calls. I accidently got into the backwash of a sparrow and found myself out of control and on the verge of a spin. And I thought that was impossible in the quirk! I have much to learn.

I second this.    That would be wonderful and add a bit more challenge to the experience.

Absolutely, Balloons were winched down at a moments notice, also the observers could jump, and did. Dont blame 'em really. Most fighter pilots stayed away from them as the Archie was particularly nasty anywhere near them, as well as "flaming Onions" being sent the way of any intrepid balloon hunter. They were that nasty to take on, that downing a balloon was regarded as a legitimate kill, and counted as such. So yes, winching and parachuting please !!

It's those crazy unblinking eyes. Gives me the creeps.

It's like this, see. My observer, a certain Capt. Matt Mazzini, never blinks. He wins the blinkin' stare off competition every bleedin' time! Positioned as he is, in the for'ard cockpit of the Quirk, I cannot avoid his unblinking stare let alone compete with it and am forced to look away under the pretence of adjusting the mixture or some other engine function. His eyes bore into me like a .303 slug. It's relentless. It's got to the point where I cannot fully concentrate on the mission at hand let alone flying the crate. I think I'm cracking up. I reported this strange behaviour to the CO who just stared back at me unblinkingly in disbelief ....

However, he has been relieved of duty as my observer for some other, ahem, unrelated incident. And I was given 48 hours leave by the Doc.

So to OBD .... is there a way of animating blinks? For the war effort, to reduce dry eyes, and to save my sanity.

Thank you.

Speaking of Quirk observers, the Lewis was mounted on a device called a  Strange mount, and I didn't know this, but the pilot actually had access to it, and was able to engage with the Lewis , at odd angles to be sure, however he could do so. Crowood Press books are so useful !!!

I thought the Lewis was mounted on the Foster mount... or are you talking about the observer station only with Scarff ring mount?

Mind you, you could be talking about the froggies version, those chaps had lots of strange stuff  :dntknw:

no on the BE2 the mount for the observer, who stupidly was in front of the pilot , and therefore couldn't hit jack shit, was a Strange mount designed by Captain L.A. Strange from 10 Squadron RFC. and it was basically a ratcheted l bracket mounted half way between the front and rear cockpits, some BE's also had a mount on the interplane strut to the observers right or left hand side, and the Lewis could be lifted off the strange mount and mounted on this alternative one, still really more of a morale boosting exercise rather than a practical and effective system. Quirks never had Scarff rings to the best of my knowledge. however the BE12 , which of course was just a BE2 with the observers office faired over , and used for home defence had several different Lewis installation options for beating up Zeppo's an early sort of Foster mount you could describe it as. Sometimes with dual Lewis mounted. The poor old BE 2 was a deathtrap, totally unsuited for any action once the Hun had the Eindeckers in service. There were questions raised in Parliament about the suitability of the aircraft , and it was implied that the crews were not killed in action, rather they were murdered........The aircraft itself was not a bad machine, it was reliable, and well made, but totally useless in a non escorted role.
