Wrench Posted February 13 Posted February 13 this is the old, SF1 original version (not fully updated to SF2, but easily done). There's also a couple of fixes in the SF2 Terrains section that give in minor upgrades Use it as a base, if you want 3 Quote
+Gepard Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 The first tiles for Detroit, Michigan are now on the map. The screenshot shows the view from the canadian side. I think i must create some new city coastal tiles with buildings up to the waterline. The one, which i use, i made with sat pictures of Chicago. But they not really fit for Detroit. 6 Quote
+Gepard Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 The sat pictures, which i used to made the city tile, showing a lot of trees. Thatswhy i planted 460 trees on the tile. I think so it looks a little bit more realistic. 8 Quote
+Gepard Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 I planting trees in the suburbs too. The X-shape trees are outdated, compared with other games. If i could get a TOD tree which would have not only 2 crossing layers, but 4 crossing layers. That would be much better. 7 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 I was not really happy with the x-shaped tree with horizontal layer, which i used before. That's why i made a new one. It's an american white oak. I think it looks a little bit better than before. 12 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 Lake Winnebago in an early stage. Screenshots shows flight along east coast to south. Then heading to west. A placeholder tile marks the location of the town of Oshkosh. 5 Quote
Wrench Posted March 7 Posted March 7 don't forget to add the Snap-On tool factory if you add Kenosha. With all the money I spent with them in my career, they've probably built a whole annex named after me!!!! 7 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 SitRep: I putted so far 53 placeholders for bigger towns on the map. I hope that i wrote them correctly. More towns will come. +daddyairplanes Posted March 8 Posted March 8 would you consider Aurora Illinois? west and slightly north of Naperville, and with a regional airport (or small airbase in game) just outside the city limits. about 10 miles (~16km) away Quote

In a second step i will focus on smaller towns and towns with airfields. And surely Aurora will come on the map. 1 Quote
+daddyairplanes Posted March 9 Posted March 9 hope so. Aurora and Naperville kinda like to go back and forth for whose bigger and/or has more my dad was from the area, and i spent my teenage years in Boulder Hill, a very small town outside of Aurora Aurora Municipal Airport is actually in Sugar Grove, but is owned by the City of Aurora and is just outside city limits, literally the way most airbases are outside of cities in game. as i recall it didnt hold much bigger than business jets, but that direct knowledge is over 25 years old Quote
Wrench Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Nice to see Fond de Lac listed. I dated a gal from there, a million years ago. Typical Mid-Western, corn-fed woman. She had a great couple of ... assets. 3 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 I made a new tile for city outskirts. I think the colors, especially the green of the forest part, does not fit to the other tiles. Back to the drawing board! 1 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 I made 3 outskirts tiles so far. So it looks in game: Here from higher altitude. You see the outskirt tiles in front, some suburb tiles in the middle and city tile in the far. It's still a long way. For me it was interesting to see, that the houses in the outskirts are much bigger than in the suburbs or in the city. I always thought it would be exactly the different way. 1 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 I worked on the mask of the sea tiles, to avoid the different colors between sea and coastal tiles. First step. You see the differences between already reworked tiles and the others. Second step: All tiles reworked. It will need a third step. If you look carefully on the coastline, you see sharp edges between sea and land. This has to smoothtly blend. 5 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 17 Author Posted March 17 I finished the first of 31 farmtiles. At the moment i'm experimenting with trees, to find a proper look. 3 Quote
+Gepard Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 Slow but steady progress. 4 of 33 farmtiles are done so far. 5 Quote
