  1. You ain't kiddin brother. In some ways, modern 'stealthy' aircraft are actually easier because the surfaces are mostly in one 'plane' and flat...allowing minimum mapping. Older aircraft with lots of round areas, nooks and crannies are MUCH harder to map well...which can result in the stuff that sometimes comes out. I have to admit, my mapping skills have gone up dramatically with each aircraft I've done. It's helped that newer versions of MAX have made this easier, along with pointers from Julhelm and a few others, including better tutorials. FastCargo
  2. I'm not sure what you mean...can you elaborate? FastCargo
  3. Making a weapon with a animated 'chute' isn't a big deal. The problem is simply that as far as I know, there is no way to make the weapon stay 'on the pylon' after the animation has been activated by 'firing' the weapon. Having said that, if you made the pylon have zero ejection values, reduce the drag coefficents and mass to zero, IN THEORY, the physics engine shouldn't be able to affect the 'weapon' in any way so as long as the aircraft model stays at a constant speed, altitude and attitude. The 'weapon' should stay right in the same relative area. I'd say start with that. FastCargo
  4. Close...actually it's because the static aircraft have no pilots....that's about the only downside of the method used to make this mod. FastCargo
  5. Did I mention the wings retract? FastCargo
  6. 1) Sort of...started in 1986...just had a 20th annversary in 2006... 2) Why yes, yes it is... FastCargo
  7. Honestly, I seriously doubt anyone here will get what it is. It is fictional, but not based in paperback or hardback books. You would have to be extremely well read...and even then, it's unlikely. Sort of a niche of a niche in geekdom. FastCargo
  8. I'm here...nothing new to report...yet. Still working on projects...check the Thunderwarrior thread for some pics of the magic Wrench has done with the XF-103. Also, still working on the various T-38 models...a problem was discovered by Dave (bastage ) that has me debating if I'll fix it due to the amount of effort it will take. FastCargo
  9. Wrench, The, Okay, much better choice on cockpit. Hey, what exactly are you trying to achieve....because this is what I was shooting for: Now this works because of a line in the cockpit.ini file: OpenCockpit=TRUE I'm using this in WOI...it allows me to use the inside of the aircraft model for the cockpit 'walls' and windows. I'm going to try another line of attack to fix the faceting. Also, Julhelm, thanks for the advice on the gear...but I really need help in figuring why Wrench is getting bleed problems even though all the pieces pass the STL check. And Wrench, The I think for the lights I may just have to make 'slimers' for the position lights on the wings. I can't figure out a way to make the lights move using just the ini files... I should have something in a couple of hours...though I have no idea where the position lights go on the wings.
  10. Wrench, The, I was just wondering about the XF-103...glad to see you're doing some good with it! It looks WAY cooler in your hands than in mine... As far as the main gear doors go, I assume you mean when the gear is down, keeping the gear doors open verses closing them. Easy enough to do... Also, I think, after doing some more research, I found where the 36 FFARs were supposed to go, I can add that in the model pretty easily, without messing up the mapping, along with the proper ini entries. The big thing I was trying to do was to avoid the missiles and rockets from 'hitting' other parts of the model when they were fired. Finally, I guess the 'faceting' is still showing up in the rudder and 'tiperons'...I couldn't figure out a way to minimize that. Any ideas from folks smarter than me? FastCargo
  11. Need a problem solved? Chainsaws usually work well... FastCargo
  12. Top Gun just makes me cringe every time it's mentioned...it's an extremely DATED movie. It's all but unwatchable...even the flying scenes. The Final Countdown has actually aged better... FastCargo
  13. Are you really that foolish to speak this way to a moderator? If you are looking to get banned...you're starting out quite nicely. As others have said, we will not condone piracy here. Do not ask for links to help pirate games. Any such postings will result in immediate and permanent banning of all involved parties. We are done here. FastCargo
  14. Dude, it's only been an hour and a half since you posted...we do have lives outside of the forums ya know. Also, what do you mean by more realistic training missile? What exactly are you looking for? Finally, there are a lot of projects out there and a limited amount of time. This may be something you can do yourself depending on what you are trying to accomplish. FastCargo
  15. More pics...both days had that summer haze that made photography tough... FastCargo
  16. You want to do that stuff on a PSP, buy 'Pilot Academy' instead. FastCargo
  17. If they made a 2 seat version (and had Andy Warhol paint it...)... FastCargo
