  1. Did you patch OVER your modded WOI install? If you did...bad things man...bad things... The BEST thing you can do is make a fresh, unmodded install of WOI, then patch, then install your MODs. Otherwise, it's almost a certainty that your mods will get screwed up in some way. FastCargo
  2. First, go to this link to learn what a CAT extractor is: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=25845 Then follow the link inside that article to download it. Then besides using the readme included with the CAT extractor, read this link to learn how to use it: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...l=CAT+extractor You have to run it in Windows 98 Compatability Mode to get it to work, check this link for more info: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/h...february18.mspx FastCargo
  3. Sir, the SITREP is this: Total SNAFU, we're about to get BOHICAed to the point of FUBAR, thats why IHTFP. Damn it, and I was so close to being FIGMO... FastCargo
  4. Both could ruin your day...permanently! FastCargo

  7. Topic is there...just checked myself. FastCargo
  8. Ordway, I'd imagine most of that audience you are concerned about are looking outside. This isn't a hard IFR type sim anyway. I'd keep it like you have it. FastCargo

Up until a few years ago, they had the cargo version of the B-36 (the XC-99) sitting rusting at Kelly AFB. They've only recently started moving parts of it up to WPAFB for restoration and eventual display. That thing was even bigger than the B-36. Hey Hawker, if you decide to go to Castle AFB, make sure you get pictures of the A-9. Only 2 built. FastCargo
  10. I hate to say this, but I recommend the same. What I have noticed, is that sometimes, even with a perfect INI entry, that the weps editor will inadvertenly tweak some values. I built a weapons rack that it did that to for some reason. I had to reinput the values within the editor itself to make sure the values were compiled right in the the weapondata.dat file. FastCargo
  11. Definitely given back to the taxpayers.... Bummer. FastCargo
  12. Well I make no claims as to accuracy of loadouts and which carriers had which squadrons and the Red Air OOB. Having said that, I tried to be close...make it fun while feeling realistic. FastCargo
  13. Don't burn too much energy on this one... Weapons as of right now do not target other weapons. As far as I know (and I've tried). So if you put AGM-86s in the air...nothing will currently shoot them down... FastCargo
  14. Okay, let's settle this a bit. Usually, T/W differences and turn performance differences as models go along are really not THAT significant. I could see F-15E models for instance, even clean, not perform as well as C models...mainly because you're carrying another person. Duh! Most of this kind of crap stems because someone is looking at numbers on a graph. What you fail to take into account is the increased capability of the aircraft in question. Usually better avionics, better sensor integration, expanded envelope. Weapons system upgrades and model changes are based on overall capability. Just because an aircraft is not as great at dogfighting as it's previous model doesn't mean its less capable. FastCargo
  15. Not from what I hear. The Viper guys I talked to said the Block 30 F-16s were the best dogfighters in terms of T/W...not the A models. And I have heard that pretty consistently from various Viper drivers...everyone from initial Block 1 to current Block 60 guys. FastCargo
  16. Pfunk, If you want to look at an example I did...here ya go: It's a campaign I did similar to yours, but set in 1993. I added carriers as well. One of the things I did was instead of doing too much cut and pasting, I built separate text files for the different services, then integrated them together. Also, I came up with different 'stories' for the campaign... Worked pretty well in fact. Anyway, check it out as an example. FastCargo
  17. Actually, isn't there a ASM entry? FastCargo
  18. Actually, most of the time, adding mods to a 'clean install' is fairly easy. The reason is the majority (not all) of the files the 'core' game needs are in dlls or the CAT files. For instance, if you have a weapons pack, your weapons should move right over. Certain things won't work like that (controls, a few other inis). I found for instance, when I moved my WOE install over to WOI, that most everything worked right out of the box (once the new weps editor came out). Only certain things (cockpits for what were formerly 'stock' aircraft, bmps for same, etc) did I find didn't work. Most 3rd party stuff was full up...especially if for terrains you copied the terrain.CAT files you needed from your other installs over. FastCargo
  19. Close, it means you're being 'lit up' by a radar...a variant is 'buddy spike' where someone on your side is lighting you up. Usually a call to warn whoever on your side to make DAMN sure what you're thinking about shooting... :). Wiki's got a pretty concise page on 'brevity codes' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brevity_code FastCargo
  20. Actually my friend, you're close. Joker = Prebriefed fuel state to knock off the current activity and proceed to the next one(ie stop CAP here and proceed to the tanker). Bingo = Fuel state to proceed home in a straight line (usually at a predetermined altitude) and land with minimum fuel (ie we have to leave NOW) FastCargo

  22. You know the funny thing about this whole discussion is that even as a western-trained flyer, I can see why this was done from an engineering standpoint. Now, in the ADI that's being discussed, the idea is that the horizon on the 'ball' is ALWAYS level with the horizon on the planet. In 2 axes (roll and pitch) control, that makes perfect sense. If you think about the ball being 'fixed' in space, and the aircraft rotating around it, it makes sense why it reads the way it does. It's funny, but when you think about western designed ADIs, they do the same thing...but in only one axis. Think about it. A western 'ball' has the blue on top, brown on bottom...when you roll, the ball rolls away so it's always level with the horizon, exactly the same as a eastern 'ball'. The horizon's match (inner and outer). However, when you pitch, the ball 'over rotates' to give you the pitch picture needed. An example...if you pitch 10 degrees nose high, the ball 'pitches' 10 degrees relative to the aircraft datum line...meaning the ball actually pitches 20 degrees upward relative to the horizon. Which would make no sense on first reading of it, until you thought about it for a bit. With the Soviet design, at least it's consistent in both axes. Ironically, the early Su-27 HUD did the exact opposite of western designs. It behaves like you'd expect in the pitch axis, but 'over rotates' in the roll axis...ie in 90 degrees of bank, the aircraft symbol is 180 degrees to the horizon. Weird stuff I think about while jogging... FastCargo
  23. Coolhand is correct. The Block 60 is a different aircraft from the 50/52s. Been pretty neat, talking to UAE guys about it. Heck, been trying to teach a UAE guy how to land from the back seat in the T-38C the last couple of days. We've had great discussions on the UAE, Block 60s, training programs, etc. Almost every UAE guy that comes through speaks good to excellent (as in almost no accent) English, pretty fun to hang around with... Viggy (heh, heh), even if you give this information, you probably aren't going to win the forum battle. It's the internet...go figure. Everyone's right on the internet...in their own mind anyway.. Save your energy for something else. FastCargo
  24. Gentlemen, a person here on the website who built and released the EF2000 got this in a private message today: Here is the whole thread...the modder that this message was sent to was apologizing for being rude in return. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...mp;#entry150186 In my opinion, this modder had every right to deliver whatever scathing response he sent to the anonymous poster. So, to Mr. Anonymous, a warning. I have a VERY strong suspicion who you are. I do not want to hear any excuses...there is NO excuse for your rude behavior, NONE AT ALL. If I find out who you are specifically, I will make every effort to convince the admins to have you gone. If I see another message like this to anyone...private or public...the same applies. We do not tolerate trolling of any type here, don't think that just because it's a PM, or that English isn't your first language, that gives you extra latitude. It doesn't. Period. FastCargo
