You may want to try it all with North Atlantic Scripts. They should work for non-Atlantic installs, but make a backup just in case. NavalMap=True is not present, so add it under [CampaignData]. Instead of the current carrier script, use this (adjust as needed): [NavalUnit001] UnitName=USS Essex ForceID=1 Nation=USN RandomChance=100 MaxObjects=10 Experience=100 Morale=100 Supply=100 Intelligence=0 StartPosition=309234.0,112620.0 ObjectivePosition=355680.0,279859.0 HomePortPosition=0.0,0.0 MaxFleetSpeed=1.289 Ship[01].Type=CV-9 Ship[01].Name=USS Essex For carrier borne aircraft, add this instead of Base Area: CarrierBased=TRUE NavalUnitID=1 ShipID=1

This is very well worth watching! The speaker in question is Peter Van Uhm, CiC for the Netherlands armed forces. Lost a son in Afganistan, and he has come to tell his story about why he chose his instrument to create a better world.

Why does that Rugby player wear all that protection?

When you release it - after due time of course - kindly make it all in a big package if that is not too much to ask. Looking forward to it. If I can help in any way, let me know.

J.J Abrams did a absolutely horrible job with the Star Trek Reboot. Having a "young and edgier" (as was fashion then) cast was just wrong. I do not trust him to do it. I would love Josh Weadon or James Cameron. The only advantage Abrams brings is as a Star Wars fan, he is more prone to respect the established Expanded Universe.

Carrier problem
JonathanRL replied to Ngr's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I am sure the people behind the carrier have tought of this, but what if you stopped the catapult script in front of the Ski Jump? Would not the landing gears still have contact with the deck and send the Aircraft up on the ramp? -
The reason I know is very, very simple. Not all men can do it. Not all women can do it. It takes a certain kind of people, and Gender does not enter into it. We as a society are used to seeing female soldiers as something exotic like in the Amazon myths; with "women and children" the thing men are to protect. This is something that goes back to the days of the Greeks and the Middle Ages - Women are the weaker sex (with the Greeks not even bothering to find them sexually equal to males). The same mentality can be found in some middle eastern countries. Yet it has clearly been proven that women are just as able in all fields as men, given a equal chance. Regarding inabilities in the way of physical performance, you may want to check up stories and reports of the conscription armies of history. There was always a good number of soldiers who just did not cut it. Change this into I would dare say that as long as a somebody CAN perform at the level required then he or she is to be allowed to become part of the unit and you have my standpoint in a nutshell and that is my final say in this debate. I hope you have a good day. I would however wish to correct an error on my part. In my social setting, the word deranged and its Swedish equivalent is used in a more jokingly manner, but after looking it up, I have come to the conclusion that it was offensive of me to call you as such. I therefore extend my sincere apologies for calling you deranged.

So, uh, Ace Combat Assault Horizon is out on PC now
JonathanRL replied to Julhelm's topic in The Pub
No, I did not. I spent 10. Considering the retail price was 20, I suspect you got ripped off. Furthermore, the money spent was on a game that is actually inventive and tried to do something that has not been done since 1999. Not to mention I actually did play it for a rather long time and while the game did have some serious issues, It was not anywhere near the level people usually set for "Broken". Not to mention it was fixed rather quickly. So do I. Just not "30 euros" much. -

Well, not really into spending 30 euros on something I would probably find rather dumb. Waiting for price to drop a little before I try it. Besides, busy flying for the Finns in Il-2. -
Come to Sweden. I will be happy to introduce you. I am sure the Israelis would be happy to introduce you to some as well. I cannot however guarantee that they will like you. Anecdotal evidence proves nothing. Not to take anything from what you did, but few women has ever been given the chance to train to your standards and preform that duty.
-
I think you are deranged. It all comes down to training and standards. Once again, Swedish Female Troops serve in _Afganistan_, and there has been little to no complaint about them. Since the troops with them are healthy, mature and secure in themselves and their ability, there are also no problems with sexual harassment or similar charges. This is the fact. We are doing it right, whatever example you bring up is the wrong way to do it. You cannot simply say a gender is incapable of something, because this is stone age mentality, the same kind that makes Saudis believe women are not fit to drive. And we know they are. If you claim there is a risk "due to immaturity", then why the hell do you want to give the same boys a loaded weapon? By putting this as a reason, you are excusing, especially with that horrible "Boys will be boys" line. Rape is a crime, it is _not_ a Misdemeanor. Gepard: I would think the risk of the Human race becoming extinct due to women soldiers is rather low. If we enter a war with that kind of casulties, you can be assured civilians will be sufferering them as well, and then it does not matter if we have women on the frontline or not.
-
Are you quite seriously blaming women in the service for crimes committed against them? The numbers of assaults may not at all have risen, it may just be the number of reports that have risen. This is a clear sign of a working justice system in case nobody told you. No, but you make excuses; whereupon you make it into a reason to why women cannot serve. As such, you are making the entire thing the Womens fault for merely being there when they want to do what is their right - to serve their country on the frontlines. Again, if sexual harassment or - god forbid - any more severe case is found, the offender is to be punished and booted out of the service. This is done today with the same kind of offences done towards the same sex, so it can easily be done when two genders are involved. In short, a person who cannot prevent him or herself from acting on simple, sexual or power urges should not be allowed to have a weapon. http://en.wikipedia....i/Jessica_Lynch Clearly states this is about a system where the standards have been lowered for females - a practice that the US does not intend to implement and one Sweden does not implement. We have women in front line roles in the Big Sandbox. Let me tell you they pull their weight and they do their duty with integrity and valour. That might just as well be a man and often is; as things stand today. Once again, as long as they and men have the same performance standards - and they will - any complaints based on "women not able to cope/handle" or similar is just simply wrong. I sincerely hope that you are merely playing Devils Advocate here and do not possess these opinions because they are frankly disturbing.
-
It makes it pretty clear that they - like men - may only apply if they can handle the duty they are to preform. You could just as well ask if men could handle it. You would find many men who could not. Myself among them. Gender does not per automatic logic make somebody competent. Training does. And this is the Womens fault exactly how? If some f***ing vermin are unable to keep their tabs off their co-workers, then they are the ones who should be punished. I do not see this as a valid reason at all. A soldier is expected to handle him or herself with dignity, valour, honour and integrity; especially to their fellow troops. If they cannot handle that just because the soldier is from another Gender, then they do not deserve to wear the uniform.

Anybody bothered by this ought to have their head examined. Everybody who has the proper age to make a mature and wise decision about it should be allowed to fight for their freedoms.
