Checking some of the SF1 Chinese Birds; I came across this: Does crushing their standing army, air force and navy in a simulator count as "use against"? Current ideas: First Taiwan Straight Crisis: Mao dictates that Taiwan must be taken. Maybe a Communist Rebellion provides PRC with a beachhead. Lots of Propeller action, not much naval action (maybe just one or two ships). Third Taiwan Straight Crisis A good basis for a Campaign. Lots of naval combat, but the problem is that such a spontaneous crisis could never result in something as complex as an invasion. The US would not want to and the PLA would know better then to actually launch one against an alerted enemy . China-Taiwan 2014/2015: Skip the Baltic 2014 altogether and make a Formosa one on the same topic. Modern Chinese and Taiwan ships. Minimal US Support, maybe only a single Carrier Group with Super Bugs and two USAF Squadrons of F-22/F-35 with Taiwans F-16s. A-Team has the f*** One (as it will be referred to from now on) so I can use the AlternateSquadron Line to add it for people who has the actual aircraft. Story would probably involve oil. War in the next twenty years will most likely revolve around this; esp considering current quite good relations between PRC & ROC. Would if possible contain one of these, pref with J-10 or J-15. At this point in time; I would humbly not even want to look at a Campaign including a F-4 Phantom, so any 60-70-80 is completely up to somebody else. I am a little tired of that aircraft, that is all. Nothing personal.

What's New in Version 1.1 (See full changelog) - J-5/H-5 should now appear as they should. - Minor typos and bug fixes corrected. - PLAAN Naval Strategy revised to account for the unexpected teleportation capacity of their ships. - B 57B is now flyable; even in Campaigns. - B 47E removed; replaced with B 52D. Any person who may or may not be the cause of this is now forbidden to enjoy the campaign. - Improved skins for J-5, J-6, H-5, F-86F & F-100D, thanks Paulopanz. - J-2 included as Optimal for Expansion Pack 1 users.

Is there any interest for further Formosa Campaigns? I have just submitted 1.1 of Operation Formosa Freedom and I intend this to be the final version. I do however like the setting; and I got some time until my main project will start to take up my time again; depending on if I do one of the ideas I had in mind for TSF. The general idea is something similar to TSF; a series of Campaigns that are connected in story and designed around a mod folder of its own. What are your toughs on this? And above else; If I do any more, what time periods would you like to see?

A quandry...
JonathanRL replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
As a Campaign Maker, there is nothing I hate more then having to sort out any GroundObjects I do not want. Well, Ground War then... but sorting out unwanted objects comes a close second So kindly, put them separately. In the same 7zip or as a different entry altogether, I do not care. -

Please note that most terrains require a CAT file; the most universally done one is the GermanyCE.Cat file. For you to get this, you need to purchase Strike Fighters 2 Europe - at least last time I checked. Once there, the road is open for you; Photorealistic Britain, Sweden, Formosa, Starys Germany - All the best terrains (and their campaigns) available in a heartbeat.

Battle is raging for Makung. The Republic of China Marines Greyhounds are trying to repel the enemy amphibious landing. The PRCs secret weapon is just outside the Island. Poor Marines... This is accurate Fire Support over a considerable distance. Cheers, WhiteboySamurai. Your ships adds a completely new dimension to my campaigns!

View File Operation Formosa Freedom Operation Formosa Freedom By JonathanRL Year: 1959 Flyable Services: US Air Force, US Navy, Republic of China Air Force Carrier Operations: Yes Naval Combat: Yes Ground War Scale: Medium Cheese / Ham Sandwich Included: No Hey, Paulopanz. This one is for you. Consider it a Thank-You for all you done for TSF ! Summary: September, 1959 The Peoples Republic of China increases their rethoric against their wayward province Taiwan, on the Island of Formosa. For the purpose of "peace and order" in the region, they demand that Formosa shall surrender its independence. Meanwhile, both US and Taiwan intelligence services declare the probability of actual invasion to be low. Intimidated by the massive bomber armada of the PRC, the Goverment of Taiwan requests US Aid who comes swiftly in the shape of several Interceptor Squadrons. Two Carrier Groups in the Pacific are also ordered to converge on Formosa; bolstering the strike capacity of the Island. The worst fear of the Taiwanese people is confirmed as Amphibious Regiments are spotted outside the coast of the outer islands. This will be one of the fierest ground, air and naval war in history. Will Formosa fall before US Marines arrive to relive the defenders? Installation: Required: Strike Fighters 2 Europe Strike Fighters 2 Vietnam Recommended: A-4A DLC Expansion Pack 1 First of all, make sure you are using the required packages merged and that it is patched to the latest version. This is _vital_. Check http://www.thirdwire.com if you are unsure what the latest patch is, but the game should notify you if there is new patches out. If you are using a mod, or plan to use one, This mod will mess around with settings other mods may be using. As such, creating a seperate mod folder for Formosa is a good idea. If you only plan to use Formosa on your main installation, then this step can be bypassed. Go to your installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Thirdwire\Strike Fighters 2). Make a copy of Strike Fighters 2.exe / Strike Fighters 2 Europe.exe depending on what you prefer and got installed. Name the Copy Strike Fighters 2 Formosa.exe . Start your new .exe once, then close the game. Now go to your Mod Folders. For Windows 7/Vista, this is located in C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\Thirdwire. For Windows XP Users, it is usually in My Documents. Unzip the contents of the 7zip file "Formosa" into the mod folder of your choice. Allow any overwrites. If you own Expansion Pack 1, unzip the file "Optimal" into the same Mod Folder to install correct skins for the J-2. Enjoy! (Yes, I take requests. Just make them reasonable...) From what I gathered speaking to Baltic people and their toughs on the idea, I get the general idea that any politician or military person to suggest such a thing could just as well jump over the fence to Russia first thing in the morning after. While there is great unity towards Russia, the Baltic countries really despise the idea to be as one in any sort of way again.

Nice package! However, I would advice you to simplify the installation for the rest of us by organizing the files in the installation order and not just in a disorderly heap. -
