My first and last Black Friday was last year when i worked at a Target store. I informed my supervisors that i would go as far as deliberatly injuring myself to avoid being placed on the roster for that day ever again.

Amazon for WOV. I picked up my copy of WOE in Frys electronics. Check out their website to see if they have it in stock -

As someone who has dealt with severe depression and suicidal thoughts and experiences since i was 17, i have to feel something akin to scorn and disdain at this episode. This webcasting thing is beyond words, personally i'm looking(or was) at a self inflicted gunshot to the head in a motel room. Why grandstand? It's your life, so why should you expose it to be prostituted by the scum that is the denziens of the lowest of the World Wide Web? I wish to hell i was 19 again. I doubt i'd be posting at this very site if my life had went on it's true and proper course back then. Life is just beginning to enter it's most fruitful stage and a someone throws it away. I can only shake my head at the whole incident.

Seeing them is the problem. Read any number of books on the Vietnam war or see any video concerning up north and you'll know that, all things considered, SAMs were able to be seen and tracked with the MK1 eyeball. However, it's not the case in this sim. The launch is decently done. We can see the plume left at liftoff and know exactly where it took off from. What we can't see for the most part is the SAM coming in to get us. I believe someone had a mod for this?

Evading air to air missles in WOV is easy if you know you are the target. Break as hard as you can and thats all there is to it. SAMs are another story. I'm one of those that deal with them while at altitude. While the barrel roll evasion does work, it also leaves you somewhat vunerable in multiple launch situations. A steep dive for the deck also works, but you better be real smooth on the pullout and some areas are so infested with triple A that prolonged time down below is not suggested for those interested in long term survival. Planning is key when dealing with SAMs. Knowing where they are and when you are in their envelope helps a lot. I posted a SAM map here a few months ago that is the first thing i consult when going further north than Vihn. For certain targets, the map( and area knowledge) lets me anticipate enemy SAM launches and preplan evasive moves using terrain to break the lock of the Fansong guiding the SAM.

Easy Question
Lt. James Cater replied to Spiff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Wow, it looks like there IS a missle as bad as the Falcon. I never could have thought it possible! -
His other book, "Palace Cobra" is also great. Gives you an idea of what it was flying in a Wild Weasel HK flight in a F4E.

My big disagreement with the tutorial is the pulling back of the throttle. About the lowest i've ever had the power is maybe 25% in a area that was milk run heaven. Up in pack 5 and 6 you can best believe that you will want to be going as fast as you can over the target. Full military power in the dive also will give your ordnance a better trajectory as well as letting you get the hell out of there that much quicker.

SAR missions

Nice thing to hear, within the next few weeks my comp should be ready and waiting! Thanks again. PS- Awesome screenshots! -
I saw "Top Gun" a whole bunch of times back in the day. I haven't flown a Tomcat yet though. I have however, read countless numbers of books and viewed all kinds of things about the all inspiring, totally awesome F-105 Thunderchief. I'd advise anyone to read "When Thunder Rolled" by Ed Rasmius. He was actually a self admitted coward who only planned to fly a single mission and then give up his wings. He managed to do a whole lot more!

Did you try search? Track IR has been discussed more than a few times recently. -
At my job we have to deal with a bunch of them for a solid week. Lots of drunkeness and fights. Sounds like typical Marine fun

I was reading a book on the history of the Cold War era Soviet and so decided to do a bit more research on the K-19. The nickname of "Hiroshima" that it got was pretty much on the money.. That damn sub was for one reason or another, a year by year potential disaster. It was amazing that it lasted long enough to be retired from active duty in 1991.

I've seen some pretty nice vids on Youtube from this game. I'll wait for a patch or two before picking it up.

SAR missions
Lt. James Cater replied to viperBAT32's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In Vietnam that was true to a certain exent but, a few pickups had to be aborted due to the proximity of enemy aircraft and in 1970, an HH-53B call sign JOLLY GREEN 71 was shot down by a Mig 21 while trying to get to a WW crew north of the Mu Gia pass with the loss of all crew. The crew of the F-105F, call sign SEABIRD 02, were declared MIA. -

Imagine something along the lines of having to reduce the AAA in a certain area under a time limit. Make the flak MASSIVLY dense and it should be be a decent simulation of reality. With Jaegers' mod on the flak settings, things should be very...Fascinating!
