  1. The screen doesn't go white, it's the scan bar that goes back and forth that makes it light green. All the markings on the radar screen are light green while the background is dark green. The sweep is supposed to fade after it passes by, but it doesn't. Instead, after 2 scans the whole thing is bright green and useless. I've got a couple of planes I've found that do this but the last time I fixed it is when SF2 first came out I think. I'll check that link.
  2. Detroit hasn't been the coolest city since the decline of Motown!
  3. Worst part of facebook is its very existence.
  4. Just remember most SAMs fly Mach 2+, while their plane was going subsonic, so how long could it take before the missile really reached them? TW sims model SAMs 10x more realistically than that film did.
  5. AFAIK, no. You only need to be connected to the internet on install, though. So if it's a case of moving the PC to a spot where it can connect and then back, it's not a deal-breaker. If you mean loading it on a desktop in an area nowhere near an active net connection, I'd say no go.
  6. You know that problem you get with the radar basically whiting out its own display within seconds of turning it on? What's the fix again? I just spent a lot of time trying and failing to find it here...
  7. What about your armpit? That's free!
  8. Well, I bought ICE on sale at Gogamer for $30 including shipping, and with the sale that went all last week I bought every single seater (I don't know if I'll ever care to fly a bomber) for another $33. So, $63 isn't that bad. I spent more for both F-19 and Falcon 3 for a single purchase, and between F4 and F4:AF I spent more on F4, and for Il-2 I bought the original, FB, Aces Exp, Pac Fighters, and 1946, so... Oh, and I bought FE2, SF2, SF2:E, SF2:V, SF2:I, and both expansions and I think even at the cheap prices that was well over $100! So, while comparing it to other WWI sims it may or may not come out more (after all, OFF requires CFS3 depending what you paid for that and then there's the HitR expansion), compared to other sims in general it's not...if you buy on sales.
  9. Well, yes and no. One thing Il-2:PF never had but needed was a LSO. MPS' old 1942: Pacific Air War had the WSO to aid in your landing. Il-2 you just do it yourself like you're landing on an abandoned carrier.
  10. I have it on my D: drive in program files, but that folder doesn't have the permissions restrictions the one on C: has.
  11. LOL, I think SAMs and radar are beyond what Oleg should be looking at right now! He's our only WWII sim dev right now, so he should focus on that.
  12. Another example of a plane program that had issues but eventually sorted them out and became a good platform, just like the C-17 and others.
  13. The point is just the DoD interfered with NASA's design to save themselves money on the costly Titans then abandoned them and left NASA with a bigger bill than it could afford after Challenger. Future crew vehicles should be JUST crew vehicles, period. Cargo goes up in unmanned vehicles before for them to access when they get up there. As for cannon in space, that means supplying oxygen to allow the gunpowder to combust. Doesn't sound like a great idea to me.
  14. Oh wonderful...my new mobo is one of Intel's screwups...

  15. Or rather its rumored possible Russian friend...
  16. Intel HD graphics = crap for games. I've got a Dell XPS M1530 I bought back in the summer of 2009 I believe. I've played plenty of games on it (no sims, though) and it works great with an 8600GT chip.
  17. Surprisingly, not by that much.
  18. Well, part of the problem is other than a handful of planes my knowledge of the various WWI planes is spotty at best so I don't know which ones I'd like the most! For a modern sim, a Vietnam sim, a Korean sim, or a WWII sim it's no problem...I know exactly which planes would earn my $$ and which wouldn't. It seems like most of the ones I know are here plus several I don't, so I'd rather play it safe and get them all while they're cheap! Move it USPS!
  19. When you post, on the far right past insert link and insert quote and code is "insert media." You put the URL in there.
  20. What sucks is on the 31st I bought it for $30 from Gogamer on sale...with dirt cheap shipping that could arrive ANYTIME. I could've bought it off Amazon and had it today for $10 more, but I wanted to save $10, naturally. The problem is you can't buy the planes until you install the game, of course, and I'm not sure if the game will be here by Saturday (slow USPS!) in order for me to be able to take advantage of the sale. FYI, to buy every single seater that doesn't come with ICE at the sale price is only $36. I remember calculating last week that all the planes with ICE would come to just over $100, but with this sale I could get them all for just $66, excluding the bombers. I'm not sure if I'll care to fly them, and the sale price on them isn't OMG AWESOME to make me spend over $20 for planes I may rarely fly.
  21. Well, the real "storm" is only the central red part. The rest is just bands of mild rain and wind that ruin your day but little else, aside from possibly exacerbating a flood condition. Reminds me of Floyd back around 10-15 yrs ago.
  22. Should cross 70 here today at least! Rain on the way, though...
  23. Only problem with Rafale is it's just as short-legged as the Hornets they have now. I've never seen an photo of a Rafale on operations without 3 BIG tanks underneath and that means that much less ordnance. Perhaps the better solution would be to get their tankers converted to have booms? Or even to wait until the USAF picks a new tanker (which if it's not Boeing will naturally result in more Congressional protest over jobs and blah blah blah ) and then a buy a few off that order to make it cheaper and sell the existing tankers.
  24. Well unlike the F-16 the F-35B/C already had that because only the USAF uses booms. So all it would mean is an F-35A with a B/C forward fuselage and the boom receptacle deactivated. As I don't know the inside of the plane, I can't say if that will be easy or hard to do, but it has to be feasible.
  25. In fact I just upgraded my CPU from a C2D E8600 @ 3.3GHz to a i7-2600k @ 3.4Ghz. Doesn't look it by that speed stat, but going from dual to quad core along with hyperthreading and an overall faster design means I got a big bump. I may have to upgrade my 5850 if I find I have to turn down the graphics too much, but I may not.
