  1. Well, it was also the whole "beat the Soviets" thing. When we got to the Moon first, it seemed the nation as a whole just sort of lost interest. Possibly because having been beaten there, the USSR decided to abandon the program. Without anyone else trying to go as competition, it seems the public saw no purpose in continuing. Basically, the "race" idea as sold to the people was wrong as once you made it no one cared anymore.
  2. No, just some changes to the existing one.
  3. Your best bet is likely Hyperlobby, a matchmaking program that supports Pac Fighters and many other games.
  4. I think it has to do with the sizes. If you add up the file sizes for 4.0 and then all the patches after that, I think it wouldn't even fit on one CD! Honestly, I don't think I ever grabbed a patch from ubi's site directly. I think I went to places like filefront or fileplanet.
  5. I've poked around and I don't know anyone who's had that problem at all, sorry. I've played SFP1 since its release years ago and it's never done that to me. You might go to Thirdwire's tech forums where TK hangs out and see if he can help figure out what might cause that.
  6. I suddenly get the mental image of Graham Chapman in drag...
  7. While that's true, the reality is they could make an excellent guess if they wanted to. Make an F-15C sim, change the FM to be as good as we know the F-22A to be (its real performance is classified, but just plug in the abilities that we KNOW and then guesstimate the rest is improved by say 20%), put in "god mode" radar/sensors and you're done! Is that "realistic", no, but for all intents and purposes it's as close as you can get in the unclassified world. To just NOT make one with the excuse "we don't have accurate info" is crap. BTW--I will point out we've had sims (albeit not hardcore) with the Su-33, F-22 and F-35 in it in the 90s but they've not bothered to make one in the 00s other than LOMAC which just pretty much carried over the 33 from F2. We've not had ANY sims with them, hardcore or otherwise, in the 00s. The best has been console/arcade stuff like Ace Combat or Over G Fighters which aren't sims. At this point I'd take a lite sim like TW's stuff in a heartbeat.
  8. Nothing happening here today...no rocket launches, shuttle launches, or shuttle landings! Also our runway has been closed since Thanksgiving for refurb, so there hasn't been any neat visitors. We usually get the whole gamut here. They reopened it last week for one flight...and promptly closed it again as the first plane to take off tore up the runway!!!

    Mr T.

He had a hilarious cameo in Not Another Teen Movie. "Stay in drugs. Don't do school."
  10. Some would argue it's already dead seeing as we've had no releases in years and none are announced to be in development. However, there is always hope. Other sims are still being made, so we may one day see one.
  11. ...you're bagless?
  12. There are so many pointless "reality" shows that go beyond documentary towards stupidity that it's not even funny anymore.
  13. I think the ship/sub launched kind have 1000lb or kg (I forget which) warheads.
  14. I don't think so. IIRC, you can start with 4.0, but then have to apply each one after that because they're incremental only. I have 46, which starts at 4.06m I think, so I haven't done it in years.
  15. The Daily Show these past few days has been covering the McCain campaign as "McCain Quest: The Search for Attention" and playing Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" at the start. The funniest thing was a clip from CNN where Blitzer was asking this panel if the media was paying too much attention to Obama...only to interrupt one of the guys speaking to report "breaking news" that Obama had just disembarked a plane in Israel.
  16. Top Gun managed. The pilots ripped off their masks every chance they got!
  17. Putting the bullets in backwards is great safety, too, as it will never fire.
  18. Did that change? I don't remember Tyndall being announced as a permanent base back when Langley and the others were.
  19. It was just a matter of protocol anyway. One guy awake when it should've been 2. My feeling is had those been active codes they'd not have had a 3rd guy fall asleep. When you know you're guarding junk your vigilance will naturally ebb compared to when you know it's something important.
  20. What's truly tragic is that MedGroup dep cmdr must have been up there for an incentive flight or something, he wasn't even part of the regular crew. Probably always wanted to fly in a B-52...
  21. I'm not talking about the Talon's design per se, although a canopy that large is very anti-stealthy and also is not conducive to going Mach 3 (which they were apparently doing at low altitude, in a dive, and still took a long time to go like 5 miles??), nor has anyone built a VG FSW design yet, plus your turn radius at Mach 3 is measured by national borders, not feet! While the Talon didn't LOOK that far off, its capabilities were totally wrong. Plus those helmets were ridiculous. Only Hollywood makes full-face clear-front helmets.
  22. You don't need a bee, just a stinger. Just stick one in a chair or whatever so they sit on it.
  23. AFAIK there are always F-22 in FL. I can't remember if it's Eglin or Tyndall, but they've got them there, albeit not permanently assigned.
  24. Ok, so even if you have a merged WoE/WoV install this will by default only apply to the German terrain unless you make those changes yourself?
  25. We're 2 months behind you, Laton! In our case, however, it's a girl incoming. I will say my wife is hoping it is quite a bit LESS than 9.5lbs, though! I was 9.75 lbs when I was born, but we don't want that for our daughter!
