  1. I find angle seems less important than speed. The faster you go, the flatter the trajectory, and the closer to the target you'll be. Of course, it makes pulling up harder, but you don't fly those planes to be safe!
  2. Which in the case of warbirds is often at least as much or more than the initial purchase price.
  3. When someone on SimHQ I think interviewed the ACES team about MSFS he asked about a new CFS. Word was "no plans at this time." Shame, really. The shots I saw of the canceled CFS4 were very good.
  4. After that one, I was wondering if the Russians were going to stick AAMs on a Bear.
  5. If only the engines had been strong enough to actually make the plane combat-capable.
  6. FWIW, very little is being done as far as flight testing out of there nowadays. The place is too high-profile (ironically) and easily watched. I hear all that stuff is being done out of Utah now.
  7. Second time? Bah, I've read RSR at least 4 times! Anyway, having the resources to fly a few bombers around is a far different matter than being able to field a combat-ready wing.
  8. Exercises are exercises.
  9. Well, another issue that may later come to light is that some of the personnel WERE aware and reported it and were ignored. If so, I would think those lower echelon people would be excused while the ones in charge will suffer even more.
  10. All I can think of right now is I don't think the Su-37 has a 20mm Vulcan cannon. It doesn't have room in there for it. The 30mm cannon it has takes less room carrying only 150 rounds.
  11. I don't think that's an A-12. That looks like an SR-71 to me. A-12 was single-seat, had kinks in the chines around the nose, and had a folding fin under the tail a la MiG-23. I also think the SR-71 was the only one used in the D-21 program.
  12. Yeah, I saw those interviews on the 2nd DVD and laughed at their talk of Kat Ross. The truly ironic thing is for how important she thought she was, how much did she do after that movie?
  13. That's one place I've never been, but plan on visiting someday!
  14. Yeah, the one on the Bismarck and the one on the S Pacific naval engagement were really stretching it when it comes to the definition of "dogfights." A bunch of Swordfish vs a BB = NOT.
  15. I can just picture trying to dogfight a sausage.
  16. With the patches being so small, it doesn't surprise me that the DL image isn't updated with every patch. Some other games out there it's a different story...as soon as your patches have trouble fitting on a single CD...
  17. Yeah really.
  18. Eritrea and Ethiopia both got Russian fighters. One got Fulcrums and the other Flankers, but I don't know offhand which got which.
  19. Ah, well I can't see or read 90% of the pics or links you guys post anyway thanks to the DoD's proxy filter, so I was going on name, not picture! As for the Forger, that was a naval aircraft, not AF, wasn't it?
  20. Right, the only planes in that range that don't count are the F-111 and F-117.
  21. It looks "Bucc-ish" from the front, but from other angles you'll see that it's a MiG-19 from the tail to the wingroot leading edge. Only the cockpit/nose/intake arrangement differs.
  22. Right, as "interim" fighters until their new fighter contract came about. Those planes would be F-16s, and they have started deliveries.
  23. I remember that plane. The props' tips broke the sound barrier at speed, IIRC, and the noise was literally deafening. Ground crew reported becoming violently nauseous.
  24. I've never seen that before. I'm guessing lower roll rate but higher weights and ceiling and longer ranges possible.
  25. If you're hit by a few small-caliber (20mm or less) hits or a glancing missile hit (shrapnel) you'll get damage like that.
