  2. Super nice! Man, western jets have so much nicer cockpits :) Also, the documentary was real good jonathan! I always wondered where they got such small engines!
  3. OK, I guess I'm gonna have to speak to him then. In the mean time, I opted to just try the baseline mesh out ingame, and I must say I don't think the difference is that huge. Certainly not worth the hassle in my opinion. If there is an easy way to circumwent it then yeah, sure, I'll use the hi-poly model but knowing the engine and exporter limitations I'm guessing there is no easy work around. That said, here's the plane as it is now. Still gotta do some small antennas and missile rails but overall I'm rather happy. Now comes the texturing part! Also, what are the "official" colours to use in SF2 south-east asia camo? http://postimage.org/gallery/189yur3k/
  4. Yes, I will do both a version with the short IFR probe, the long (pictured) as well as the one without. The shadow bug is elusive and I am now considering to abandon the meshsmoothing, and just adding some detail where needed manually. It is not very natural to cut up the fuselage in many pieces just to make shadows work, in the pictures the fuselage is in 4 or 5 pieces and the mid node still does not shadow properly.. Annoying! What do you think?
  5. My brain has turned to mush because of too much work today, I've really beaten myself to get the A-37B done! I think that is is now further along than anything I've made so far, only couple of mish stuff to be modeled and mapped on the main model! Enjoy: Also, Soulfreak, what's your schedule like? http://s11.postimage.org/6o90c7ikj/a37ig15.jpg
  6. The Last Gunfighter gets a new lease of life with Israeli and russian avionics, the Kopyo radar set and the Israeli jammers rom the MiG-21 Bison. Also, the Colt Mk12 cannons are replaced by NR23 cannons for added reliability!
  7. Do you happen to have a picture of one of those? I've also noted the strangeness but didn't know what to put there Thanks for the feedback guys, maybe if all goes well this bird will be flying on your computers as well sometimes soon!
  8. And now, the much wanted FOD screens, fully animated. Hope I got it right, took a few do-overs. Close ups of the IFR probe are wanted, btw!
  9. Ok, but since there is this issue for all the new modders maybe it would be a good idea with an instrument repository like this available? The value of a bunch of gauges for pirates is very limited but could be gold for aspiring modders. I understand very well the hesitance of anyone putting up a complete cockpit without limitations, that is not what I am suggesting! Think of this as a sort of create-a-cockpit toolkit where you just take the bits you need to rapidly have something that works. Not everyone is tech/ini savvy enough to easily implement the various instruments, neither familiar enough with aircraft instrumentation to make all the stuff work as it should. PS. I didn't even know of the modders repository before you guys mentioned it just now
  10. Hi So this is an idea I've been toying with lately, whose main purpose is to facilitate cockpit making, especially for people new to the game and engine. As it stands now we have a couple of outstanding cockpit makers like Brain32, Stary and Julhelm just to name a few, whose work is excellent. We also have many up-and-coming modders who are just now making their first works in SF2, like me or Sophocles. For me making a cockpit has not been difficult because of aesthetic reasons but technical ones, setting up all the instruments and so forth. To bridge this gap I was hoping we could, as a community, create a set of MAX files with instruments freely available to the community complete with commented INI files. This means creating a cockpit would mostly be about creating the mesh, then the aspiring modder could just open up the instrument max file and pick all the appropriate instruments and place them in his cockpit. Over time the library could be expanded to include most common US, Soviet and French instruments, as a lot of the instruments are standard on many different aircraft or at least very similar. So now I would ask you, the experienced modders, to give us newbies a hand by giving your instruments . I'm willing to do all the compilation work, basically you would just have to open your cockpit file, delete everything except the gauges and needles (and other assets you are willing to part with that might be of use), save as a different file and send it to me. I will then compile all the gauges to a file which I will put up for download. Regarding the textures these can be sent in any way you please, I will then cut out the unnecessary bits (if any) for minimal file size. And be sure to also send the INI files of your cockpits so that it is basically a cut'n'paste affair to make them work. If you care to comment the files, all the better! I'm hoping this project will enable more modders to make more high quality cockpits for the flying pleasure of us all If you have any input please share it here! With hope of co-operation, Cnt
  11. It is also, by far, the most expensive F-16 variant to date
  12. Damn, that's too bad! It looked really nice in that screenshot.. Who is this other guy/guys working on a Fencer?
  13. Sure will, if that's what it takes! It is actually a fairly nice shape to map, mostly square-ish.
  14. Hi Veltro hows this project doing? I am asking because I'm really interested in this bird, if there is anything I can do to help just say the word
  15. How's this cockpit doing? It looks great!
  16. Parani Su-27 Flanker Am doing a Dhimar-Paran conflict set in 2000, but cant seem to make the Paran force able enough. The HAWK sams are bonkers and the Amraams blow everything out of the sky. We need more modern OPFOR planes! Low-vis roundels..
  17. I can UVmap the B-58 if there are no other takers, if someone wants to texture it? (Not that I don't want to texture it but UVmapping is like 1 day of work, creating good texture template is a lot more, and I have many commitments already!)
  18. Haha that stick is crazy hi-poly, but also incredibly nice looking! This plane's gonna rock!
  19. Ingame shots of progress: Does anyone have a picture of the A-37B actually loaded with a sidewinder? Also, were there ever Chaff/Flare dispensers fitted to the aircraft and if so where?
  20. Soulfreak that is some very nice work, looking forward to see what you can cook up for the A-37B! What dimension is that texture BTW? Is it one or two 4096x4096?
  21. I actually think the guns are very effective in SF2, the M61 gatling especially (found on most US fighters), it is a virtual death ray. My gripe is that the guns are IMHO too effective against tanks, the 20mm M61 should not be able to score kills vs modern tanks (atleast in the frontal sector). Regarding tactics, just make sure to get real close, if it fills your sight it is hard to miss
  22. Wow, very nice models. A lot of these look pretty complete model wise, what's the hold up? I understand all too well the time constraints of one person doing this as a hobby, but was mainly asking where you get stuck usually as in is there anything I or anyone else in the community could help with?
  23. I just read in the latest Airforces montly that the USAF / ANG lately have taken over 200 F-15s out of service, so perhaps some of these could be offered to Nato allies? Ofcourse super what-if as going from L-39 to F-15 is like upgrading from a bicycle to a Bugatti Veyron but still
  24. Maybe we should do a kickstarter and then just give TK the money Meh, if the guy is burnt out on SF2 development I understand fully, but that's the danger of one man shows.. Aaanyways, I don't see why a Kickstarter wouldn't be a good fit for TKs operation. It's not like it legally binds him to do anything, but gives him capital to hire staff to accomplish goals. And to clarify, I'm quite happy with SF2 right now, I'm a single player guy at heart and the graphics are good enough for me (with Starys magic the terrain engine is surprisingly versatile) but the potential for TK to monetize is huge if he would just leave his comfort zone.
