  1. I've done the same thing to my WoI install, clear back to 1948.
  2. As was said, vertical take-offs are a rarity for Harriers due to the heavy fuel load and the limitation of cooling water carried onboard. A Short-Takeoff is more likely starting with the nozzle full aft to get rolling, then dropping them to 60 degrees-ish to pop up. Vertical landings are the toughest of all. -S
  3. If anything, I think the CAF Hornet drivers would welcome the chance to run an intercept on an actual Russian bomber. Many of these guys are young and were not in during the Cold War, so this opportunity would be a nice break from sitting alert only. Maybe it's just me?
  4. I've got a legal boxing with key. I'm curious as I've heard of guys keeping a vanilla install as backup so this, theoretically, should work.
  5. Understood! And the more I think about it, I do still usesome visual landmarks (roads and rivers) to line up certain targets. Thanks for the memory jog Eric.
  6. The only real use for having all of the rivers or lakes, etc would be for VFR navigation. Il-2 was good for that and I could navigate as necessary. With the modern sims, this isnt such a requirement. It's nice to have a detailed map/terrain, but dont kill yourself over it. -S
  7. I know this is going to sound scetchy, but this is my only option right now. Ok here it goes. I've got the FSX w/acceleration expansion set. But my good gaming comp's DVD drive is Tango Uniform, so I only have the standard CD-Rom working. Can I install FSX onto my laptop, then copy it over to an external HD, for transfer to my gaming comp? I know you guys are saying, why bother, but I dont have the cash right now to get a new DVD drive. What all do I need to copy over? Both computers are XP, so the file placement is the same. Thanks in advance!
  8. As was said, his iconic voice on the radio will be missed.
  9. Never hurts to show appreciation for time spent and excellent work released, regardless if it is always of the finest quality. Thanks MF!
  10. They took delivery of another KC-767 this week also. Watched it take off from the Boeing plant here and head West.
  11. Interested in? Heck man, he was there. Dave is LeMay reincarnated!
  12. Pick your divert base with the highest Per Diem rate, and drop on in. Mention the E-word to your friendly ATC controller and you'll have a very colorful audience upon landing.
  13. Arena league? Good luck.

    WTF is this?

Gotta love the tanker guy, Tom. Although we usually will say that we got up and took a piss and didn't have to use a bag, or fixed a hot lunch, etc, etc... Bill and John are awesome! Those other two clowns, not so much.
  15. Unfortuantely, I think I have to install the software to get the computer to recognize the external hard drive anyway. It's a 500Mb install also. WTH?
  16. Got one of these for Christmas. It's the 1Tb version. I'm curious what this software does for me and if I really need it. From what I've read, the HD does an autobackup if programmed to do so, but I just want to use it as a huge storage device. What do you think? Jeff
  17. Must have taken a few shots of the medicinal Jeremiah Weed. Drunk typing is not encouraged!
  18. cough, cough, PAVELOW, cough, cough P.S. Here is the link for Marcello's Mi-8s http://marcfighters.combatace.com/Aircrafts.htm
  19. Just an FYI and not a knock on your excellent model. This is for the F-16 or early F-22. It has the center ejection handle (for side stick aircraft) while the F-15/A-10's ACES II, etc.. have the ejection handles on both sides of the seat where the seat arming lever is to stay clear of the center mounted stick. Please keep up the great work!

    SAC is Back.

You could always contract out your lift. I know of a certain freight company that's always happy to carry stuff. Hell, our aircraft are even compatible with your KC-10 loaders... Of course, we'd have to buy a few MD-17s to carry the outsized stuff... FC
  21. I saw the Sea Shadow once during it's trials in the SF Bay Area. It was pretty cool. The F-117 was still brand new to the non-black world, so anything "stealth" was an instant WOW. -S

We're all split as to where we want to be. There are some of the old heads still around who say that being combined with the bombers would be good, but then again, we'd be stuck with that as our ONLY mission. So it's a double edged sword.

Don't expect any tankers to make the move over to the new command. Despite our mission to support the bombers, AMC will not pony up any aircraft.
  24. Love the TSR2 Ant. One could go crazy thinking about "What might have been". Op Granby next? -Jeff
