  1. Configuring the aircraft for VTOL landing a good ways out is the way I've done it. Finding that right amount of thrust and the nozzle position is the key. The speed brake is pretty useless (at least to me) once you get the gear down. Practice...
  2. Whoops, my mistake in regards to the 90th and the 3rd. Too quick with the fingers.
  3. You were partially correct. The 90th TFS sent jets to Incirlik, Turkey for ODS.

Continuing Mike's list of aircraft used: Soviet MiG-29 Fulcrum-A Tu-22PD Blinder Tu-22M2 Backfire Il-76 An-12 An-22 Su-24 (1984) Afghan L-39 An-2 An-24/26/30/32 I started incorporating some of these aircraft in a fresh Wings over Afghanistan install, last night. By keeping the years they flew as accurate as possible, I shouldn't have any problems with a L-39 going against a F/A-18F.

  9. Something to note. Under the F-8D and F-8D_66 listings. VF-31 never flew the Crusader. They jumped from the Demon to the F-4B. So, change both aircraft's squadron listings for USNGrey3 skin, to another F-8D user. Here are some suggestions: VF-154 H&MS-11 VMF-333
  10. I'm not sure if this sim models this, but try hitting the tanks from the top and from the rear. That was the least armored part of the tank and susceptible to hits.
  11. The B-52 update pack 3.0's README mentioned something about fixing the wing pylons and bomb racks. However, I've never seen any LODs for the mentioned pylons. I dunno...
  12. The pylon shape looks good. It needs some more lines to simulate access hatches and such. See here: http://www.acig.org/artman/uploads/mki_apu170.jpg Also, can you move the pylon itself, back more? You have too much sticking forward. It should be centered on the rocket pod.
  13. Julhelm, Thank you for posting that article. It's very eye opening for people who have never been there and only see the nice things as portraid on television. I've only been to Abu Dhabi, but have flown over Dubai more time than I can count on the way to Afghanistan. Each time, the skyline has grown and parts appeared more greener than the previous. We knew about the poluted water and were banned from swimming. Seeing the palm islands grow out of the water was an amazing sight. In regards to the Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), they are not only in the UAE. They can be found in nearly every middle-eastern country in the arabian gulf. Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, it's all the same. At least on base, they are treated better than outside, but I'm sure the living conditions are the similiar since the parent contractor stills manages them. What was of particular interest was the thought of the desert slowly reclaiming all that has been built up. I think of the towers being covered with blown sand, the place abandoned many years in the future.

  15. Something that I'm noticing about the stock aircraft is that none of the decals are showing up. I'm doing some testing on the A-7A and the decals that do show up are for random units. For instance, VMA-211. What's that? No tail art, just the squadron name at the base. Is anyone else seeing this? I'm afraid my fix will end up being hard coding each default skin to a unit.
  16. I think once this is complete, it will be an amazing Mod. The timeline alone will almost guarantee a long playtime. For me, being able to get a small glimpse of what the guys/girls I refuel are seeing from their jets, will be very welcome. Thanks for the work! -Jeff
  17. The Flanker and Fulcrums do have a Look-Down, Shoot-Down capability. But the current game code does not allow that. So, exploit that to your advantage. Good luck!

  20. Yea, I knew the LHAs didnt have catapults. I was just using that as my example. I've never had that happen when taking off from the LHAs though. They only starting moving after you've gone so far down the deck or runway. I didn't see anything screwy with your settings either.

  22. Is your wingman starting in front of you or behind? The only time I've had my wingmen take off before me was when I took too long on the cat and they will launch first.
  23. Once WVR with the Flankers, stay behind their 3-9 line otherwise they can utilize the Archer. Keeping it on the rail is the best defense against it.
  24. They weren't the 18th AS then, but the 18th FS. The things you listed above are when they were a combat unit, not an aggressor squadron.
