  1. View File Modern Darwin/Timor Modern Darwin Terrain Ver 2.0 for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE & SF2/SF2:V/SF2:E UPDATED to Version 2.0 6/11/09 This is a rebuild of MY rebuild of Edward's WW2 Pacific Theatre map of Northern Australia, Timor, and parts of Indonesia. This moves it up into modern-ish times; the operational time frame I've designed it for is apporximately 1950-2050. Modern place names have been used were needed (and discoverable!). It has been extensively updated for Post-08 Patch Level installs for the Classic Series ™ {herein after to be known as "TOS"}, and is usable in the New Series {herein after to be known as "NextGen"}. The Update is designed to COMPLETLY replace the earlier version I'd released some years ago, and is a COMPLETE terrain with just about everything needed for installation. It has been extensively re-tiled, with the addition of MANY parts from the WoV "GreenHell" ™ mod by Brain32 & CA_Stary, while still using ONLY the original stock tiles (in other words, TODs for the jungle/paddy/grass. City TODs are still the stock ones, due to target placements within the cities) . The target areas have been 'cleaned up' and enhanced, including some that are of a 'fictional nature' to enchance gameplay. The movement ini has had some additions for CAS missions on Timor., The data ini has also been brought up to present (post-08) standards, with all effects activated. For mission and campaign builder, 2 Friendly Carrier stations have been added. I've included several new ground objects, mostly to replace some that have gone missing from General Usage ™. Included are 1 new destroyer, 2 1/2 aircraft carriers, and some other things. (I say 2 1/2 carriers, as one, HMAS Australia, is just ini edits to create a "What If..." for the RAN). There's also quite a few surprises ... so keep a sharp eye out, especially when flying near coastlines/ports at night ... *NextGen users take note -- you =MAY= be making data ini adjustementst for use in SF2/SF2:V/SF2:E. I've experienced NO anomalies during testing. Your mileage may vary* **SF/SFG/SF2 Only users take note: you will be missing 2 of the naval vessels; the SumnerFRAM2 destroyer and the SCB-125 Essex class aircraft carrier. You will have to import the various and sundry bits from WoV or Post-08 Patch WoE. Or find "other alternatives". Or switch to WoE/WoV as your main gaming install. It is also suggested (read: REQUIRED!!) you have the latest weapons pak installed for the various guns, SAMs, and whathaveyous. This is mostly for the ships, and air defense units --this is MOST critical for NextGen SF2 series users!!!! Any additional Ground Objects you can get your hands on, is also HIGHLY reccomended!! (Pasko's SAMs and Vehicles Pak, Kesselbruts Zil Trucks, you get the idea...) As always, unzip this to a temp folder or your desktop, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions. It is also HIGHLY reccomended you read this document ALL the way through to get an understanding of what's to be accomplished, and how to do it. Happy Landings!! Wrench Kevin Stein ps: yes, I've reused the same screenie. Just too lazy to take/make a new one Submitter Wrench Submitted 02/23/2008 Category Terrains

  3. I know what you mean...for the WoI vulture, I stuck in the F-4B pit, gave it a very weak radar, and its 'good enough', although I'm pretty sure they didn't really have one. The 104 pit actually looks closer to real one, and even that's not quite right. My "2Jet cockpit" (mod of the Beaufigher) has the damn canopy upper rails in the way, but it has a gunsight, and twin engine gauges. Wrench kevin stein
  4. Audio-only is nothing..just text edits. Using the not-by-any-means-close A-4F pit, already has one. Using Paladrains MiG pits, the inidicator thingy on the right, somebody got it working by underlaying the RWR bmp. -- not sure who it was, or how they did it. An accurate pit, single engined -not borrowed from a twin, would need to be done from scratch. Didn't somebody had a HUD to one of Paladrains Fishbed pits??? WRench kevin stein
  5. The PTO P-55 Ascender, generic metal P-51D. You'll find a lot of repeats, so you'll have to view each one to edit out the duplicates. I'm thinking perhaps I should release the Stargate/Sci-Fi pak that I'e got for the F-302 Mongoose....lots of 'egyptian-ish' styles (agains, some reused), and several new. They just don't show on the Mongoose, as it needs a new nose mesh cut to apply them to I particulary like the 'Carter of Egypt' one...as in Samantha Carter.... (well, before she plumped out as seen in SG:Atlantis). A verrrryyy nice nearly nude Jessica Alba fake.... Plus, the various 'classic' cartoon types -Duck Dodgers characters, Leela from 'Futurarama', Cartmam from South Park ("Screw you guys..I"m killing G'aould") etc, etc, etc. Of course, the classic Petty, Vargas, all the greats... Wrench kevin stein
  6. They're re-used. They're my nose arts from various WW2 and other mods. There's something like 250+ to choose from Wrench kevin stein
  7. Available in the combatace downloads section (if not, let me know and I'll upload it) Along with a EAF Vampire 50, EAF Meteor F.4, F.8.. There's also the IDF Beau and Mossie too... I also have an not-quite-finished (as in a Beta) NF.13, plus the already released Spit 9 (stand in), P-51, EAF Spit 5Trop, EAF Spit 22, IDF Harvard II, S-199 (109G10 standingin) There's a host of stuff...with WoI we can now recreate the very early years... Veltro: great job!!! Can't wait to add it to the collection!!! New pit, or using something elses??? Wrench kevin stein
  8. That's why it pays to look in the KB from time to time..... I've fixed the J-7s for the most part as, well, lights and 'available' weapons. Also have a nice modded A-4F cockpit with working HUDs too. Just waiting for the next patch to come out, so I can add the AG radar info to the avionics ini (ala WoI) The pit ain't perfect...but it works. Wrench kevin stein
  9. There is a Blenheim Mk1F NF, as well as the P-70A & B. You won't catch anything with them...but they're there! opps..forgot the Beau NF, too. Wrench kevin stein
  10. Yes, the Giza Pleatau is there...as are the Pyramids. The Sphinx isnt, however. Didn't get a screenie... As to Air Defenses, all the unit's tagged as "AAA" will show up in the expected places -- Stingers, M-42s, SA-7, SA-8, SA-9, Chaparrell, generic guns and such. The SA-3s will show, as the targets ini calls out "SAM_Launchers" After I get the loadouts straightened out -- and it's a freeking nightmare!!!! Half the stuff don't show - some EAF/SyAF/Irag/Jordanian/Lybian may be stuck with a pure "Soviet" as their attachement type* -- I've got some ideas as to where to place generic HAWK batteries. Anybody else notice the docked ships at Port Said and Suez??? The gun editor seem to be working fine...I had to use it last night to add the Bradley's chain gun. You can always just copy an existing one, with all the weapons. My EAF Veltro's seem to have their Breda 12.7s! Wrench kevin stein * remember - you can't load a friendly nations' weapons on a enemy aircraft!!! Even in the stock, unmodified version, it dosen't work either. Just add a cockpit to the Lybian Mirage, and notice NO french weapons; just commie stuff
  11. It is also HIGHLY reccomened that they be in their own, stand-alone install covering WW2. THAT is what they were designed for. See the Knowledge Base for instructions on creating an "Era Specific" install. Wrench kevin stein
  12. I'm still trying to figure out which is the best cockpit to use fro the bis...right now I'm using the PFM's. Be careful with that Hunter...it's the entire Lebanese AF!!!! Wrench kevin stein
  13. A conditional, yes. You d/l and install the weapons pak. But once you do so, you'll find all Soviet birds no longer have weapons available....therefore, you'll be extracting the data and loadout inis, and editing them to match the new weapons naming conventions; which uses the correct Soveit names. The pak is also 'nationalized'....meaning there are 'nation specific' weapons for aircraft used by certain nations (for instance, Iraq has it's own set of missiles, bombs, rocket pods, etc) In the knowledge base, is a nearly full listing of what to change, and how to do. Link--->How To Edit Weapons for the Bunyap Weapons Pak -- includes various fixes<---Link Read the first 3 or 4 posts carefully, as they explain what we're doing, and why. You'll also need to read the 'how to use the weapons editor'...located here -->How to use the Weapons editor<--anothe Link don't forget, you'll have to set the compatibility mode of th WE to "Win98/ME" for it to work. Get used to using the Knowledge Base --and this goes for everyone!!!!-- a lot of us have spent a LOT of time going over things to help you out. Make use of it! Wrench kevin stein Keeper of KB
  14. Erwin: please post the pictures as jpgs...it takes a much shorter time for us (and all folks) to d/l to view. And uses MUCh less bandwidth have you folks looked in this thread??..... --->PLAAF Weapons in Knowledge Base<--- LINK HERE Please ignore the UV series RPs, as they were the only models Ihad to work with, and can easily be deleted, excepting for perhaps the eariler Fresco and Farmer variants Good news on getting the right rocket pods!!! Try updating your DX9...I had crashes at first too, until I got the latest version . Mine was something about "d3dx9_31.dll". Got the DX from M$, and all's been fine. Wrench kevin stein
  16. have you edited the "AttachmentType=" statement in the aircraft's data ini, as per instructions in KBs Loadout Thread?? Perhaps this might be the problem.... stock aircraft are still using NATO...... Wrench kevin stein
  17. Well, now that the weapons editor is working -- and works great, btw. I took a chance and just copied over the gundata ini and gundata dat, as it seems to make no real differences (btw, anyone notice in the new stock one the addition of the MG- 151???) So, we know the ww2 birds will work. They fly totally differently...the Spit responds so fast to roll inputs!! Haven't check the S-199, Mustang, Veltro, etc yet. Pics: The new parked planes features is just too cool.... Here's one of the new damage shots (not me, my wingie -- I was busy running away) Now, to go off and add more SAMs (SA-3s!) Have to place the IDF Hawks by hand, unfortunately. Just as usual, the Western powers are suffering a lack of air defenses...although the M-42 Duster works fine in a stock install, as does that stand-in US 90mm gun I built a few years back. Note to self...get the new Chaparells whilst I'm here... Wrench kevin stein
  18. Somebody just asked a question about the map...these new ones have a shaded border...defining the limit of "The Wall" VERRRRYY Nice!!! No more guessing how far to the edge you can place things. Which is too bad...it puts Cyprus in an unusable postion (was thinking about 56 War) With the release of the new weapons editors, I can now see how my prop birds handle the FM -- which seem VERY improved from the older ones. Mustangs and Spits over Mitla!!! Get to fix the Vamps and Metors and Veltros and Mules now... Wrench kevin stein
  19. Vulture over Sinai... flyable. Almost done diailing in the lights; new WoI style hangar and loading screen coming later today (the placements are different, had to re-do my 3yr old hangar screen!!) Still debating on which cockpit to use...right now, it's the F-4B, but I think I should switch it over to my "2Jet_cockpit" mod. Wrench kevin stein
  20. I'm stuck with using the WW2 statics we already have...and for some damn reason, the stinking Spitfires won't show up!!! I could also add the RE- series Italian birds. After all, they ARE museaum pieces! As to use it for a ww2 scenario, all yo need to do is switch out the parked vehicles for WW2 ones, switch the sAMs to AAA (find/replace), and it should be workable. Wrench kevin stein
  21. No kidding!!! I've got too many installs, with too many 'nationalized' weapons to keep track off!!! Maybe I'll have to learn that merge function..... I'tll be nice to be able to add by War of Independece birds, and their required weapons (S-199, Mustang, Spits for both sides...) plus the "What If" IDF birds... This also may point to the immenent (sp?) arrival of the patchs for the others in the series as well.. Wrench kevin stein
  22. Also added, for all aircraft, are 'damage bmps', show internal structures as if panels have been blown off, andd... damage tgas for ALL the MiGs!!!!! So, you all can toss my old ones out. I'll try to get some damage screens later. Been working on the Vautour right now....and upgrading another semi-secret project for WoI Wrench kevin stein
  23. Your welcome, glad you could find a use! Wrench kevin stein
  24. Don, where would a dumba$$ like me find that switch? In the nVidia control panel? I think I've been in there once.... Wrench kevin stein
  25. What I've done, is I have one install of each that's clean...no addons. That's the one I use for patching, then move the updated files tothe other 15 installs... As to integrating, I have one (ok, now 2 installs - 1 WoE and one WoI) that have ALL the mods, excpeting WW2 stuff. Adding the stock terrains (desert, vietnam, germany) is just a simple matter of moving those terrain folders into wherever you want the Big One to be. But right now, the best thing to do is wait. There have been, in my estimation, significant changes in the aircraft, ground objects, and probably in the terrains themselves. Just from what I've seen so far in the various cats, and ingame flying. There is a patch, coming out whenever, that will bring the others (SF -maybe-, WoV and WoE) to WoI levels. Also, since the the First Eagles expansion, and now with WoI, we have to wait for the new weapons and gun editors, to make the needed adjustments in the older weapons paks. Cause they be broked right now....so don't try any weapons or gun editing, or adding the Bunyap or MF paks!! Also, I'm sure the aircraft themselves (what, there like 400+ now???) are going to need some upgrading as well. But personally, I'd use WoE for now as an "All In One". Wrench kevin stein ps: good to see you still around!!
