Have you added the CVA-34 to the types ini?? I know the targets ini (at least the one I'm working on) calls out "Carrier Station" for some of the TFs, but I don't think the actual ship is declared. Wonder if that would be part of the problem...???? Example: It just says it's a carrier station...my question is, how does the game engine (or even the terrain engine) know which/what ship to add??? Or is it an automatic 'given'??? Wrench kevin stein -

Has anyone given any thoughts towards artillery???? We have the M-7 Priest SPG, a working D-20 Russian field piece, working Kaythusa (thanks to MoonJumper), and I'm sure I could knock together something for a US 155 using either the stock KS-12, KS-19, Pakso's KS-19 (a much better looking gun, as it's has a crew), or something from the WW2 installs (the 88 could be turned into something, I"m sure...) Also, how deep in detail do you want buildings??? There's all those really neat objects Polack released (limited) converted from CFS2 pacific objects - some are showing up in my WW2 map rebuilds. There's some nice Quonset huts, warehouse buildings, etc there are a few items that don't work for some reason (one of the pillboxes...it dosen't appear, and stands about 1500 meters tall .. I kept flying into in the Okinawa map). Some might need a slight reskin fro the climate, being much colder than the tropics of SoWesPac. thoughts? Wrench kevin stein

I wasn't gonna do this, ....wondering about copyright issues..... but.... I have Yefrim Gordon's book "Soviet Air-Launched Weapons Since WW2" on pdf. It'll be over 65 megs, zipped (for some reason, pdf's don't seem to compress much - it's about 67 unzipped) I can make it available, if there's enough interest....or if I can find the site were I got it from (have an idea), I'll post a link. On a side note, what about the PRC weapons??? Been working on trying to fix the J-7 series we got late last year, and I'm running into (LOTS) of issues. We may need to expand the PLAAF weapons by copying some of the Soviet RP and bombs and such like. Wrench kevin stein -
Now I remember why I never quite finished this...my Korea SF install is unstable; either something in the install, or more likely a 'bad' spot on the HD. Nevertheless, I was able to retrieve everything. I've rebuilt a new WoE install, and I'll have to go through each target area and make sure things are working. I DO remember problems with the usual suspects ... the truck depots and factory centers 'ground plattes' disappear, in some cases, due to un-flattened areas. I can fix this relatively easily...as they're the Target001 item, and usually placed at 0,0, I can just make the flag for the offending country, and place IT there. That removes that problem, but some terrain flattening might still be necessary for some areas (most noticalbe in cities, where I've added the truck depots and such like. On some, I just removed the platte. Still need to check ship placements; I know I've got docked vessels at Pusan, Wonson and Vladivostok - whch includes a full army and navy base, plus the airfield Next question - do we add the 3rd area (Russia) as neutral, or leave it enemy? Historically...well,we all know it got attacked by mistake speaking of historicality, I'm pretty sure some of the factories and depots are NOT correctly placed. It's livable, though Now, this version has the rivers and the deep canyons at Toko-Ri, so Armed Recon missions get quite 'interesting' -- watching the trucks climb vertricle cliff faces (even Hummer can't do that! Or Land Rovers!) And the bridges I placed do NOT span the massively wide canyons. Once I get things together, I'll shoot you a PM, Brain32, and you can see what's up. Found 3 of the screenies... some factory somewhere... Yalu River bridges.. Wrench kevin stein

That city/port tileing look great!! Needs some parked ships though... Ok, guys, just to let you know I did find it -oddly enough in my stand-alone SF Korea install!!! looking at the enclosed readme, it seems I used the 1000km x 1000km prototype by fng2k - dated 10/03. There still seems to be some confusion, on my part, as to just WHICH map I've used - it was 2 years ago! Assembling the package will take some time, and I don't remember what all I actually added (objects wise). I also want to go back and re-do the types ini; several new trick I've learned since then. (11/06 was the last time I worked on the targets ini). I places objects (parked tanks and such) directly into the terrain folder, so I want to move them back to "UseGroundObject=TRUE". Also a listing of ships, tanks, etc that'll be needed for the time frame. Might take several days; possibly up to "2 weeks" I'm on it! Never fret! I had some screenies somewhere...I'll have to find them so you all can see what's up. Wrench kevin stein

Somewhere here, hiding on my HD, is a massivly updated targets setup for the original (freeware) version of Edwards Korea terrain, set up for early 1950s. Added all the usual places; factroies, truck depots, train stations, shipwrecks, etc... If there's any interest, I'll have to find it from wherever it's hiding Wrench kevin stein

Follow the guidelines in the "Check YOur Mods Before Uploading" thread, sticked above. I do it all the time; upload 'incomplete' aircraft paks, containing inis and skins, with full instructions for end users to follow on transferring files. Look at the A6M Zero paks I've uploaed over the past few weeks; use my readme as a guideline/template for instructions. Wrench kevin stein

I'm kinda in the same boat too.... My Southern California rebuild (nearly done!) needs flattening for some target areas, and some of the terrain features (unwanted "hills" along the coastlines, etc) fixed, and possible retiling. Although I can live with the tiles as they are I've also picked up another partialy finished terrain for Texas/Mexico that needs EXTENSIVE work on flattening and retiling. Do any of our Terrain Gurus wish to share detailed tutorials??? All the ones over at SimHQ are long lost in the defective archive #2 I can lay out targets all day long...I just can't fix terrains!! Just to let you know, the CV-63 object is probably hiding inside the WoE objectscat. And, there's several other CVs for use in carrier ops, made by third parties.. You just won't get them in single mission; only in built (user created) or 3rd party campaigns with the needed 'carrier station' What dosen't come stock (withot some fiddling) are the Navy birds. Take the extractor, open the objectscat and browse the file list...yo'd be amazed -AMAZED I TELL YOU!!!- at what youll find hidden in there... Wrench kevin stein

View File A6M7 Type 63 Zero Pak A6M7 Type 63 Zero Package: for SF/WoV/WoE WW2, PTO installs This little modification creates a new aircraft based off ArmorDave's A6M5 "Zeke" IJN fighter. Included in this package are the skins, inis, and some various small and sundry bits. The aircraft LOD and cockpit folders are NOT included - you 'll be transfering them over from the stock A6M5. Therefore, it is NOT a complete aircraft package. Ini mods include changing out the weapons for 12.7mm machine guns, 2 in the wings and one in the upper engine cowling deck, along with the standard 20mm cannons in the wings. No other changes to the flight model has been effected. The skin, from a new template created by me from the original Volks & Lansen skins (and using parts thereof), represents 210 Kokutai, based in Japan, sometime in 1945. You'll have serial numbers for 18 aircraft, and one 'end of the line' filler. I've also given you some other gunsight tgas, so you can choose between them. You will also be using the Weapons Editor to add 2 new IJNAF rockets, based on existing one. No lods are included, or needed, as such. = You MUST have the latest Weapons Pak installed for the WW2 Weapons!!! = Obviously, you must have AD's Zero's installed to use the package.... I had originally started this, but got an 85% complete mod from christian59 (who's real name I don't know), so he gets a substantial portion of the credit for this mod ... I just cleaned up the inis a little, and did the skin and decals. His work also includes a new, more faded bmp for the 52 gallon drop tank, and the aforementioned rockets. Definately have to credit TK, if the bird is mapped identicly. I uploaded 1024x1024 templates for the stock 17; feel free to use it if needed. If using anything from the original Fresco-E mod, like avioncs ini and radar tgas, those modder would need crediting --that would also be my suggestion; why reinvent the wheel when it's already a 'been done thing', and readily available. Along with any cockpit makers, if using an aftermarket cockpit. Plus a detailed readme as to what the end user MUST acquire and install from other sources, and where to find it. Hope this comes to fruition...we've needed the correct 'body' for a while now! With luck, maybe the Farmers too??? Something to replace my half-assed, albeit workable, solution. Wrench kevin stein

I also have a companion, the standard day fighter.... shown in YORKTOWN markings, VF-3, circa Feb 45. Still having the problem with the rear window decal...it covers both the back windown AND the freeking windshield... The good thing is, there WERE several hundred -5s with the window...just not in the late war time frame. Just a few more decals for this one, move the landing light, and it's done. But FIRST much check with Geo for permissions...even though the cockpit and LOD will not be included. Just inis, skin and decals...creating an new airplane. Wrench kevin stein

That's easy...just change the alignments of the bases in the Siani (sp?) to ENEMY, keeping all the bases within Isreal's border friendly. You may, however, need to adjust the 'front line' in the movements ini, and any truck and ground attack routes that run 'contrary to map opinion' Wrench kevin stein

If you guys have never seen it, I'd reccomend it...the acting is, well...better left not mentioned too much. Strangely, it does reflect on American attitudes of the times (re: Soviet Union) But the flying scenes.... I have it on DVD, and it well worth the rental, or purchase if not too expensive. Definately a must have for us collectors! BTW, that's an F-89A model, and anyone else recongnize the voice of the KGB agent she ejects as the voice of Disneylands "Haunted Mansion", and the reporter making tape recordings in "War of the Worlds"??? Just debating if I want to make tail number decals...I'm assuming a veeerrryyy low production (like around 6 aircraft). So the 5th Sentai of the 100 Indpendant Air Company might not have any individual aircraft numbers. Plus, I need to make a hangar screen (of some type), and more importantly, get permission from my Dev A-Team-mates. Even though I'm on the Team, I still ask!! Wrench kevin stein
