Thunder Thursday
Wrench replied to jeanba's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
while looking for an issue on the latest DRV release (no, it was me!) Flying Thuds, and this shot looks just like the cover art on the version of "Thud Ridge" that I had as a kid. Couldn't pass up taking this shot!! For Jack Boughton ... -

I always hated putting airbases next to water, but it looks like it can be done with the sea-2-grass, then the airfield tiles. Good thing water is flat!!!! -

Those lights are COOL!! Some suggestions, and glitch found! The port tiles for Haiphong, Da Nang, and probably the others, need the TOD buildings moved out the water.!!! They're all over the place!! (sorry, I forgot to take a screenshot) The stock tanker used 'in port' is way too large and just (to me) doesn't look right. I'd use Julhelm's tanker. It's pretty close to a T3 type, and better suited for the period. While looking for something else, I found a whole slew of SEA type boats and sampans and such by GKABS in the "cargo and transports" section. There's also a bunch that I made (PRC, and somebody else, Soviet?) 'docked' static cargo ships too. We know that the main US used harbors would have all kinds of docked ships, cargo, LSTs, etc (most of which we have) I gotta say, the terrain looks REALLY good!!! thanks for the work!

Wow. Instead of being a whiney little brat, how about this --- try INTERACTING with the community. Post in the main forums, ask questions, answer them if you can, but INTERACT!! Don't expect things to just drop in you lap. It don't work that way here. Anymore. And, there's still the 30 day waiting period. Unless you choose to use some coin and get a subscription.

No matter what, it STILL looks better than the overused stock Runway 4!!! I LIKE how it looks!! -
DRV 2.1
Wrench replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Just downloaded the newest version. Looks great! Excellent work! although I do have a complaint -- the TOD for the port tiles needs some adjusting as there's building in the ocean!! I know what a nightmare TOD building is! Also, some of the city-to-grass (?) transition tiles could be a little less abrupt, less square and more rounded or blended into the adjacent tiles But overall, MUCH better than the stock terrain! -

Well, that was too good to last ( or hope for). All the threads and forums have been restored. Just repeating the same whiney bullshit by the same whiney selfish people. C'mon, TK, wise up!! -
A quick note: I made a mistake on the Mission Tasking in the Data ini!!! Open the S2F-3_data.ini, and DELETE (erase, remove, whatever), the Role EARLY_WARNING from the list. As this bird only has surface search (ground mapping) radar, it's of no use looking for airborne targets. Sorry for the inconvience!

I would go with the seperate models. I know it adds more work for you, but in the end, it'll mirror Real Life (tm). -
"a more wretched hive of scum and villainy you'll never find" Seems to have been all cleared out. Looks like TK finally got tired of seeing all the moronic threads. Mostly were about 'how do i get such-and-such file from CA without paying?'. Lots of (attempted, and maybe completed) piracy there. Good riddance I say! Most of posters were bunch of whiny twats. Nothing left but the announcement thread. All the others are gone.

SF2 S2F-3S/S-2FE Tracker (Beta +) 11/12/2025 -For SF2 =ONLY= (Any & All, Full 4/5 Merged Recommended) Another "Found In The Archives" Job Found this while cleaning an external drive. I have no idea where I got it, when I got it, or who built it. I've checked with our South American brethren, and they weren't sure either, but support the decision to release it. It's a 'not quite' ready aircraft, with some mapping issues (like, some parts are unmapped), but otherwise in good shape. It flies fine (albeit a bit TOO overpowered and maneuverable, but otherwise just fine). Therefore, I've given it the rating of "Beta +". If anyone does know who built it , Please Let Me Know, and I'll update the credits. What we have here is a Grumman S2F-3S (SF2-E after 1962), and is VERY close to the G model. (See "Notes"). This is the later model, not the early type with the sensor pod on a pylon above the cockpit. The aircraft came with several skins, and of course I had to add more! Those marked with a star (*) are the original skins. Those unmarked, are by me. You'll have: US Navy: VS-21 "Fighting Red Tails" (Pacific 60-70) VS-37 "Sawbucks" (Pacific 61-73)* VS-28 "Hukkers" (Atlantic 60-69) VT-28 "Rangers" (60-79 TS-2A)* Argentine Navy: Escuadrilla Aeronaval Antisubmarina (Blue)(<1970)* Escuadrilla Aeronaval Antisubmarina (<1990)* Brazilian Navy: 1/1 Grupo de Aviacao Embarcada (P-16E)<1965)* Venezuela: Escuadron Antisubmarino (Ven <1970)* Royal Australian Navy: VS-816 NAS (RAN) (67-85) Generic Gull Gray/White* As can be seen, the SF2 Date Switch if active, and skins will change accordingly. The "Generic Skin" has been decaled for the USN, but with "fictional" markings. As all decal positions are now pre-plotted, other Texture Artists can easily make additional skins and decals The skin template is included; it's stored within the main aircraft folder. Nearly all marking are decals, with the exception of some national or squadron markings that are painted on due to a "lack of meshes" issue. All serials (BuNum for USN) have been matched as close as possible to their Modex numbers. Any numbers marked with the cross (Plus sign +) could not be matched to each other, but DID serve in the units assigned. In other words, nearly 100% historically correct. The BuNums for VT-28 are also correct, but as I couldn't find which were converted to the trainer, consider them 'generic' in nature. This mod uses (almost) all stock weapons. I've included the Mk.44 LWASW Torpedo, modifying it's service dates and exportation (after researching, of course). They work very well on Anti-shipping missions. All other weapons use stock 3W items. A new engine sound is also supplied (see "Notes" for install instructions) I've used the Standard Animation Keystrokes (tm), Shift/9 will fold the wings. Shift/0 (zero) will open the starboard side crew door. The MAD boom and belly radome extend automatically with landing gear retraction. It is fully Carrier Qualified, having been tested on USN, RAN, Argentine and Brazilian Navy CVs. On the Aircraft selection Dropdown on the Main Screen, you'll see: S2F-3S (S-2E) Tracker This will, of course, keep it differentiated from any other Stoofs that might be flying around. As is always recommended, unzip to a temp folder or your desktop to give easy access to the rest of this readme for it's install instructions. PLEASE read them, before installing!!! You will be adding a sound to your SoundList.ini, as SF2 has some weirdness with engine sounds (expecially in Win10/11). Please read the Notes section for other useless information, and (hopefully) full credits. Please also take note of changes in the Standard Disclaimer in the "Legal BS" section at the bottom. Unfortunately, no. Like I said above it's from 2003. The model maker has long since left the community. If we had the MAX file, that would be great. To be able to fix the mapping, map the unmapped sections (the roof of the island and antenna farm), add box launchers and guns, etc. Even if we can't get a (easily) working VLS, I'd settle for having them "pop out of the deck" at nearly any angle! -

Hmmm.... wonder what the armor value is for pykrete?? (nah, lets just leave it as steel) That deck should be big enough for AF medium bombers, too. And Hercs! Even without arresting gear, and would need a different yoke for the cat shot. Or a rolling take off? JATO shot? depending on the overall weight, I suppose (re: World War Z) -

Thanks! Wait till you the actual SIZE!!! -
Most of you all, even the Old Hands (tm) have probably never seen the ship depicted below. It comes from "The Factory Place" circa 2003. Yeah, THAT old!! Amongst all the various buildings we're still using is this Monster of Seas (tm). I actually got it working as a full use carrier, as you can see it's repainted, and yes those are standard game generated Hornets parked on the deck. Gives you an idea of the size. I call them (there's 5 named) the Goliath Class CVBN carriers. The birds take off and land pretty good, actually. I used bits and pieces from the 3W Nimitz class data ini, and rearranged locations to fit the enormous amount of available real estate. I know the forward cats could be shortened (moved forward), and that's an easy repaint and ini edit. That would also (possibly) add more parking spaces. There's 18 right now. What I need to figure out is, for one, the damn ship number deck decal(s) and ship name on the stern aren't showing up in game. They do in the LOD viewer, but not in 'real life'. The other is trying to get the air defense Sea Sparrows (also borrowed from the Nimitz) to be VLS(ish). Because, as every one can see, there's no box launchers in the corners. Same can be said for possibly added CWIS. "Fake Weapons" have been used in the past, so it should just be a matter of locating them. So, I'm looking for volenteer(s) to give this a shot. Respond here, and/or PM me if interested. The LOD itself has many issues, but they are ignorable. T Also, if anyone is interested, I expanded the names list for the CVN-68 (Nimitz), now including the full class. BTW, 3W gave us 99 hull number (USNCVnum) decals, and the new listing show up nicely. Will give them a lifespan well beyond 2055 (or so). thanks!

Moved to the correct Forum -
Is this in the right Forum?? Is the question related to 1stGens??? Just wondering, 'cause if its for SF2, I'll be glad to move to The Right Place (tm). =========== To answer the question; No. Like Gepard said, the game assigns ONLY one target per mission. Now, OTH, it don't mean you can't bomb the shit everything around it. As for The Range, there's nothing like practicing The Craft of Putting Iron On Target withOUT all the Bad Guys shooting at you. They why we built those terrains. And upgraded them innumerable times (NOW!! With Water Features for your Anti-Shipping needs)
