  1. Ok, the Radeon 9700 Pro AIW is installed and everything is working as advertised. Running Latest Bios, and drivers for the the mobo and card. Had a little trouble at first and thought I was gonna be dissapointed, but I stuck with it and read the forums and followed everyones instructions. My Framerates for Nascar with everything turned to full on and 43 cars reaches about 115Fps. I also rewired my PC to provide some extra cooling and I'm now at 33 Degrees C. I'm seriously looking into a water cooler (Koolance). Seen a system at CompUSA and realized....DAMN thats quite! I'm sure I still got some tweaking to do, but everything is running stable so far. (knock..knock) Can't Wait to benchtest against someone...just need the software to do that. SYSTEM: Antec SOHO 350 Case Asus A7V8X Mobo with SATA/RAID/USB2.0/1394/5.1 Sound/Broadcom 10/100 LAN AMD 2400 XP (not overclocked yet) 2.0Ghz Radeon 9700 Pro All-in-Wonder w/ Latest Catalyst 3.1 Drivers Kingston 512MB DDR 2700 RAM ThermalTake Volcano 9 Coolmod HSF Envision 19" Flat CRT Saitek X45 Hotas, Logitech Wingman RumblePad I should say that my ONLY dissapointment so far has been with the built on sound drivers. I'm not sure exactly where the issues lies, but Nascar 2003 forces my sound card to go into an Environmental Mode "Quarry". This means that everything that creates sound...ie..ICQ, RW, Game all have this reverb on...this is VERY annoying. I've since updated to the latest ASUS drivers and it seems that other applications from ATI have done the same thing intermitantly, while Nascar seems to have gotten worse. I have a SB 5.1 live card in my desk...I may just turn the onboard sound off and install it. Don't fret Beer...SFP1 sounds remain unharmed. Tested more tonite...NO probs with Enviro Mode "Quarry" except from Nascar2003....shot Papy off an email tonite.
  2. Go Seminoles!

    Nascar Fans!

Improvements: Joystick Axis available to pan the drivers eyes....this is great. I use a gamepad for play do far, put if you use a joystick, you could use the POV to pan the view and see who's low or high. The Graphics have definately been turned up a notch. I even noticed that my windshield existed after a few laps....rubber, bugs, etc all over it. The crowd, track, fences everything has been incredibly detailed. I think one of the biggest improvements in the game has been the fine detail that real drivers expereince. Every Track has it's subtle nuiances. Let's take the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for example. There is a YARD of bricks at the start finish line. The bricks act like a speed bump at 180 MPH....and this has been duplicated in the game. There are spots on every track that make a car act differently....these abnormalities have been reproduced to give the gamer a more realistic experience. Let's not forget the sound....wow! I think this is definately and improvment over the N2002. Although they do have some issues with the Craetive Labs 5.1 Live card (drivers) and I've found that I've got Problems with my Asus A7v8X mobo built on sound. My problem is that after exiting the game...I still find the sound set to "Quarry" which has the reverb turned up pretty far. Surfin tonite for a fix. I'm just now beginning to see the improvements. There have been others at ODB Motorsports that follow the game a little closer then myself. I'll try to foward any questions to them...

    Nascar Fans!

Ok everyone.... When I'm not pulling 9 virtual G's in my F4, I'm generally on the track pulling 3 G's in my 750HP Sunday ride. Indeed, Nascar Season has started and in realife has surpassed Baseball as America's favorite sport. (IMO) Yep...you won't see any drivers gettin paid 100 million a year for the next 5 years. Anyway, Sierra Publishing has released Nascar 2003 by Papyrus just in time for everyone to get their fix of online gaming before the start of the RL Daytona 500. This game has produced hundreds of Racing Leagues, many of which give out $1000.00 of Dollars in realife money to PC Gamers that compete each week for the championship. Well I got my copy, and ODB Motorsports will be back in action again very soon. Here's some screens for the interested: Hum....maybe need to change my sig soon too....hehe
  7. Hey Scr00ge....don't forget to check out Biohaz's Knowledge Base pages for present and future sims. http://www.biohazcentral.com/index.php?mod...rs:%20Project-1

    Paying for War

This was sent to me in an email today...thought I might share it. It appears that congress has commited to paying for all future war efforts by following the promotional business model of Nascar.
  9. Even in a world of technology and impersonal behavior can we still find humor. Great Read Dice! Cheers
  10. FOr all things dealing with Janes USAF....goto McFly's Website.... http://www.bobsyouruncle.net/mcflyhome.htm
  11. Somehow Snapple I find this to be a double negative. All the delays are because they are NOT trying to rush this game. As far as the original question, about the cobra manuever, no one can really answer that question better the Matt Wagner. My guess/opinion would be that it CAN be accomplished due to the fact that Matt and the DEV team are making a SIMULATION vs an Arcade style game. This means that they are trying to reproduce every aspect of real life (RL) conventionally possible. With the right hotas, configurations, and experience, you should probably be able to reproduce this manuever. The real question is, why would you want to? Flight Combat Simulation and RL Combat are almost always a factor of energy management. If your aircraft dissapates energy....well...you become a sitting duck (No Offense DuckFly) Maybe I'll try the manuever a few times to see if I can deliver dumb ordinance more accurately. Good Luck!
  12. Ok everyone ....This may not be the grandaddy of a vidcard that some were expecting the GeForce 5 to be....but...you gotta give some kudos to the marketing department for releasing it right when everyones tax checks start rollin in!!!! Here's the Comp_USA info: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_in...cmid=&pfp=srch1 Cheers!
  13. I'll have to agree with BP_Moscow! I also think that getting the Hyperlobby as a game launcher would be a great addition to you software....it's free. http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz/ Also...I've never used Track IR....but in my opinion...if your gonna mix it with the pizza and beer....you better get some towels and a barf bag. Just Kidding. Track IR is a great if you want to do more flying then dying... Cheers!
  14. Not to brag too much, but Consider Purdue University. Their Aeronautical Engineering School is the tops in the Country....just ask an astronaut. Their flight program is on par with Embry Riddle. I've known many ROTC students from each of the Armed Forces while I was there. Almost all went on to flight school in their respective branch. Although military life was not for me, the choice to attend Purdue Aero was one I'll never forget. Bachelors 1996. You can have a First Class Education as well as a great beer at Harry's Chocolate Shop. (GO UGLY EARLY!) HAIL PURDUE! Fates

  16. Those Carrier Pics are for CFS, not SFP1. As far as BETA testing, the pics are from CFS, I'm not sure where the beta testing was done for THAT version of the carrier (in CFS(2)). The post at SimHQ refers to the fact that the Carriers from CFS are in 3DsMAx format and COULD be imported...however, there still is the landing problem to be worked out. I can't explain all the SimHq post at this moment because SimHQ is down. Have Fun!!!
  17. To my knowledge, only the throtttle has an adjustment for tension. I have found that putting vaseline under the spring loaded disk will "smooth the action" so to speak...hehe...however I'm sure you could replace the spring under the joystick with a thicker guage. I don't think I'm gonna experiment that far yet. Maybe I can do some more experimenting if the Misses allows me to purchase a TM Cougar.

    Shuttle Accident

Please, everyone tune into CNN....a very sad thing has happened today. My sincere well wishes to those that support this modern science and to the family and crew.
  19. actually I worked on a few parts from the airframe that were used in the T33 as well as the basic engine model as used in the T33...much the same aircraft....belive the cockpit/canopy are the same as well as some of the gear and many of the accessories of the time. BTW...I'm not old enough to have worked on it in real life...no..sir..ree... There were 2 prototype and actual ANG T33's at the tech school i went to.
  20. I've worked on parts of this airframe and powerplant
  21. We got some time to try. Besides let see a show of hands that think LOMAC is gonna be flawless the first time around.
  22. OK, Here's the MOD....takes a couple of days downtime for everything to dry and cure but it's well worth it. Start with a stock stick: Then Double check that you have everything that's needed. Here's the List: Stick, automotive "blue tape", Sealant "PRC 1425 B1/2", sealant gun, knife, rubber gloves, lubricant, and Beer! I use the BLUE TAPE because it sticks well, peels off well, and contours well. I mask off the area that I want to add the sealant too: I will then mix the sealant...which is pretty easy, and put it into the gun to use. Put a good glob of it on the stick and this is where it all gets interesting. The Gloves and lubricant are not what you think they are for. They are used by putting on the gloves and lubing it up so you can form the rubber compound without having it stick to your fingers. I would suggest several gloves, and any lube will work...like WD40 or something. The B 1/2 Sealant take about a 1/2 hour to cure to the point where you can remove the tape and not damage the molding. And when you all done, let the stick set for 20-40 hours to cure. The rubber will smell a little at first, but that will eventually go away. After the cure time, I was able to use my stick with 16 hours, but it is a little greasy, and you will have to let the rubber cure more so you can remove the excess lube with a towell. When I was all done, I add 3/8" to the stick base to lift my hand higher onto the POV's and buttons. I also added comfort for those long hours of flight. Enjoy! Cheers!
  23. Here's my old one:
  24. Begin with X45...add duct tape, a cloths hanger and a trackball mouse....WOW.... That'll put Track IR outta business...hehe CHeers!
