  1. I think it would be great to have the Aircraft Add-ons(models) section organized like the calendars....or the squad links pages in which you have each model represented by a graphic.... I have almost all the new and upcoming models as graphics in 160x120 size....just say the word and I'll zip them and send them to ya. Actually, if it were done like the Squad LInks sections you would have more room to list details about the author...etc...etc... Just my 12 cents....but I'm a dime short. Fates
  2. Here is the DECAL tutorial Direct from TK himself....hosted by McFly. http://www.bobsyouruncle.net/SFdownloads/D...%2011-12-02.zip
  3. Hehe...I used to do the BBS thing all the time back when I got my first Hayes 1200 Smartmodem. As I recall, I think I stumbled onto that site a month or so back. Man, most my Bulletin Board System tinkering was searching for files or downloading games...yeah..the original Napster. hehe. Al Gore created a great internet for us all to use. (sorry...just couldn't resist) Fates
  4. 180 Knots is standard on almost all aircraft.....from a Learjet to a 747. Although the gear may be able to handle higher airspeeds, it's the spar that it's attached to that doesn't need the radial stress loads over time. There are also things like gear doors that are not manufactured aerodynamically or structurally to take the stress at higher airspeeds. Besides....the real question is "Why do you need them at higher speeds".. and the answer is "you don't". Flaps are the same way the are used for landing...not making a tighter turn. If you want to make a tighter turn...slow down. Air combat is all about who has the most energy. Flaps deplete that energy incredibly quick. They are generally not designed to take the structural loads either. Remember that at 200 Kts, your exerting hundreds of pounds per square inch on the control surface, which is hinged and when that force gets multiplied by x-factor at the fulcrum (hinge bolts), I would just hate to have my flaps depart the aircraft and destroy a more important control surface..."Elevator" Cheers Fates "I am not a military pilot....but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night."

And a big Thank You and Your Welcome to MJ for using the the new Banner and creating such a great place for us sim fans to communicate. Cheers! Fates

  11. Many at LOMAC Central have stated over and over that the release will not be moddable to great extent. Skins and Decals will be allowed to be edited as stated by Matt Wagner. It has also been stated by the Ranking members of LOMAC that there are plans to have post release mods coming straight from Ubisoft depending on how well the sim does. However, lets focus on getting the game out in a stable form first. Like MJ says, "Mods do not a sim make". I'm sure that with enough money and time, there will be mods to the game, just not end user mods. All of this however will be entirely proportional to the support the sim gets.
  12. I spent my Weekend with the real thing Dave! This is DustDevilODB at the Pima Air Museum in Tuscon....with "BIG SAL" I'll have more pics of the Museum as well as a review soon <C> Fates

  14. Ok Everyone...... Weasy aint lured me into America's Army yet....and neither has a certain Beta tester I know. I have however become 100% entwined in BF1942. There is so much great work goin on for the "GAME OF THE YEAR". There are mods galore and, from what I've seen, they all are Multiplayer Friendly. There are mods like Desert Combat .03, which is so popular that it is entended to be the next Official Add-on. The Future addons include a Mechwarrior style game, a Star Wars game, a PIMP wars game...etc....etc....it's just endless. BF1942 has announced "Secret Weapons" in which the addon will include many new flyables, shootables, and drivables.... ] Keep me up to date on what goin on here....I just can't get enough!!!
  15. Thanks for the Info Jeff.....I have this sim somewhere....gonna have to dust the CD off, but can't wait to throw it back in and try.... Is there any known probs with WinXP? and/or Radeon?
  16. Well....I for one know where your coming from. I've been in several full motion commercial flight simulators, as well as helped in maintaining a 707 and 727 sim. I sorta sit on the hardware side more then the software side, but your correct when you say "full flight simulators that are used in commercial and military use do not model reality 100%" I'm also a extrememly low time pilot and and I believe I can agree to some point that any simulator is not about being 100% accurate as it is about being 100% believable. Keeping that in mind.....as computers can become more advanced to make the average gamer "perceive" reality...then the word "simulation" will take on a different light.
  17. Congrats ArgonV, I've never played a WWI flight sim, but I've worked on some actual aircraft from those early times. They Include the PT19a and the Curtiss Jn-4D Jenny. I would just love to get back to the basics of recovering cloth aircraft, or rebuilding one of them "Round" engines...hehe Cheers!
  18. I've been to that site a few times....and from what I've seen....simply marvelous!

    Humor Me Caption

OK everyone.....lets keep this more of a humor section and not steer off the road in bashing the French...(been there..done that). I was havin some fun over at the ODB Board, and thought I might bring some of the fun here. Just post what CAPTION you would put in the bubble.... Personal Favorites so far: PosionODB: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman..." CorvetteODB: "The last time Condaleeza and I were naked....." Enjoy!
  20. Well.....here's the 3DMark2001 scores: This is not OC'd....but it's at 8x....the Radeon card, to my understanding, forces the Asus Bios to 8x and does not allow the owner to change the AGP setting. This was addressed to Radeon by their consumers becuase it does it to more then just ASUS boards. My understanding was that the latest Catalyst Drivers....well..I have the latest and apparently it does not.

  22. I'll have to vote campaign+map as well.... I've seen so much of the great work being done on TC...keep up the great work.
  23. Ranger...exactly what do you mean by "BETTER" results?
  24. Ok... Like Jeff has said, a joke is one thing, but aiming it at a particular belief, country, person can only open up more mud throwing. Just ask the many factions of the world. The mud throwing is fine...everyone is entitled to their opinion but without civility the mud turns into stones and the stones turn into swords and the swords turn into bombs. Their reaches a point in almost all political threads where each side gets more and more offended, and eventually it just needs to be locked before the first stone is cast... So it shall be done Cheers!
  25. I was able to download them...but at 1.6Kb/sec xfer rate...thought something was wrong with my Cable....You may be able to submit them as attachments for MJ's approval
