    Little Spad VII hop up Cockpit.ini and Spad7_180.ini Hanger Screen Widescreen and normal loading Screen Default tan textureset (replacement for stock if you wish) Escadrille 103 (Les Cigones) textureset and decals (Tan) Escadrille 31 (Hoplite Archer) textureset and decals (Tan) Escadrille 48 (Rooster) textureset and decals (Tan) Escadrille 65 (Dragon) textureset and decals (Tan) Escadrille 81 (Grayhound) textureset and decals (Camo) Escadrille 94 (Running Reaper) textureset and decals (Camo) Escadrille 3 (Les Cigones) textureset and decals (Tan) Escadrille 3 (Les Cigones) Alternative with Stripe textureset and decals (Tan) Escadrille 3 is skinned to a higher degree than the other Escadrille with personal markings and semi accurate paint jobs/numbers The French seemed to paint all their aircraft individually so many compromises were necessary The Folder structure is a little unusual (trying to save space) Straight under the SPAD7_180 folder there is a Decal folder (combined for all the new decals) and Folders for all the new Texturesets The main Tan Skins live straight in the SPAD7_180 folder as well so all the tan textureset’s can access then (some textureset folders have replacements depending on Escadrille) If you haven’t already done so you will need to extract the Spad XIII cockpit from the ObjectData.CAT into a separate cockpit folder under the SPAD7_180 folder if you wish to fly the SPAD7_180 (the two .ini’s provided point to a cockpit folder and make a few changes to the 13’s cockpit but they are not necessary if you have already done this) If you will need to use the provided SPAD7_180.ini if you wish to use the provided hanger and loading screen (or alter your own ini) There’s a wide screen version of loading screen in the folder “widescreen loading pic” just copy it over the existing pic or delete it depending on your needs I suggest you unzip this Download to a temp folder first and take what you need to the SPAD7_180 folder. Please remember to back up any files that may be overwritten in the SPAD7_180 folder first These Skins should work fine for the SPAD7_150 as well but the .ini files will be different Please feel free to use these skins and decals for your own work (non-profit only) Hope you enjoy them Vernon

  4. Glad you like it :-) Pretty sure you have the latest I just grabbed the closest to hand when i did the comparison So i mite have used an old one I cut it up in PS to so as to make a smaller pic (makes it look a little different)
  5. heres the Siemens-Schuckert D.III Data.ini compared to the stock Dr.1 and the 150 camel the D.III CD0(drag overall) does look a little high, (in comparison) the camel looks a little low to me (the Dr.1 has highish aspect wings and no wires so should be lowish) the D.III CDL(lift overall) looks low compared to the other two and CLa looks high (probably to compensate fop the low CDL) the other thing you can play with is the PropEfficiencyAdvanceRatioTableData under the [engine ] in the data ini Dr.1 is a touch higher and can have quite an affect on top speed good luck

It would be quite a big change to the engine i think Mesh deformation (twists) is very different to the move and rotate transforms possible at the moment (sorta like cloth dynamics i guess) From my (not so good) info on the subject warping only moved the tips approximately 100mm at max deflection so it doesn't seem a big loss to me And there's many other things that would be nicer to have IMHO Thats a very nice model lambda*sqrt(u*x), I hope someone (or you) converts it to FE I had a taube on my wish list of things to model but its along ways off (never never land) The MoS-N does warping animation (not the wings) by moving the wires/turnbuckles/pulleys/cranks at least it gives some visual feedback

A small suggestion There are a number of licenses specially set up to deal with Internet communities and creative control of released work, They are clean and in use by many artists and makers Personally I have always released on the Internet under one of the Creative commons licenses, Usually: No commercial use, and Share and share alike http://creativecommons.org/ These seem to me to give a modicum of legal control as well as ensuring maximum benefit of your work to a public domain based community Anything more restrictive (IMHO) leads to ill will and frustration all round Ultimately it comes down to the individual’s community spirit and their outlook on the public domain… (Both individual creators and end-users) But as Tailspin said, another hobby is probably more suitable if you have large issues revolving around control and ownership on the Internet

It’s a little complicated (I agree they could use a spice up tho) If you are just replacing sounds (i.e. your own wav with the same name overwriting an existing wav in the sound folder) its most likely a format problem.   15. I totally agree about changing to many of the "deep" files Its always made me hesitant about how i mod the game if i want to share it later... I guess its another reason to consider putting together a "super-mod" (there will always be arguments about what should go in tho) I think a continually upgraded mod that only scoped historical "accuracy" (loosely) and environmental factors would maybe not be to controversial (lol) I pmed Nicholas Bell about the squad editor a little while ago (it wasn't working for me either in the addon) he is checking it out (could easily have been operator error for me tho) Aces I have a few Q's for the community about them... 1.If people upload them are they any use... (hmm what format i guess i mean, full campaign mod, or pasteable snippets for other modders to use in future campaigns) 2.Where in their career do you put their scores? Ive seen a few posts with people struggling with 32bit TGA files and how to make them This is how I generally make decals; sometimes the details will change (don’t follow this slavishly ) and there’s many other ways to achieve it, this is just my way Its not really step by step but hopefully I haven’t forgotten anything important I use Photoshop, but roughly the same techniques work for The Gimp (open source), I don’t know about other imaging programs I’m afraid. I’m assuming a basic knowledge of PS (selecting layers, dragging them around, turning them on and off etc) But you should get a few hints from the pictures as well (I hope) The first step is drawing in a clean image of your decal, I use Illustrator to create a vector image from drawings and photos but creating it in photoshop works nearly as well I'm not going to go into the drawing I'm afraid I like to have a bit of the underlying skin bitmap as a temporary background while making decals; it helps for sizing and gives a better feel for the final image I always try to make the decal at least the same resolution as the underlying skin Here the red square is 256x256 pixels and that will be the final decal size in this case Here’s the image cropped to 256x256 pixels (3x zoomed) and I’m copying and pasting (ctrl+c and ctrl+v) from Illustrator my vector drawing as a smart object (allows rescaling with out losing any resolution) Once I’ve resized it and hit enter (smart object are still vectors though and can be reedited from the edit-transform menu) I then duplicate the layer and give it a name(to save a backup) and rasterize the new layer (menu-layer- rasterize -smartobject) Raterising a layer flattens it into a normal PS layer (bitmap) Recolouring of areas is done by using the lasso tool and then filling the marquee areas (menu-edit-fill) Use the preserve transparency checkbox to recolour just the painted areas I’m not Recolouring this so I deselect again (ctrl-d) Here I have filled the red background square with the final decal background colour RGB(85,85,85) the exact shade is not important but a shade that is neutral and somewhat close (in tone) to the underlying skins helps in later anti-aliasing Duplicate the stork layer (bitmap) again With the new stork layer selected use the magicwand tool to select the transparent areas(outside the stork), then inverse the selection (menu-select-inverse) and contract it by one pixel (menu-select-modify-contract), Delete the selection (delete key) and deselect (ctrl+d or menu-select-deselect) Selecting the transparent areas first and then inversing gives better anti-aliasing and lets you select multiple colours in one go This leaves a layer with a one pixel outline of the original stork layer, fill it with black (menu-edit-fill) using multiply at 50% (darkens the outline) Gaussian blur the outline layer (menu-filter-blur-Gaussian blur) with a setting of around 0.3 of a pixel, then set that layer to around 44% opacity and linear burn blend mode (softens and darkens the outline of the stork) Making the alpha channel (transparency) Duplicate that layer (the outline) and set the new layer to 100% opacity and normal blend, then fill it with white (menu-edit-fill) normal mode, 100% Duplicate the original (bitmap) stork layer and fill it with a mid grey (menu-edit-fill) normal mode, 100% This grey will be the opaque bit of the decal, With alpha channels white RGB(255, 255, 255) is 100% opaque and black RGB(0,0,0) 100% transparent and all the grey scales in-between varying mixes of this I use roughly RGB(150,150,150) for my “opaque” bits so the underlying skin shows through quite a lot, I usually bump up the colour saturation on my decal (the coloured stork) to compensate, but I still wouldn’t use pure colours especially pure black or white There’s lots of scope for making different parts of the decal different levels of transparency (to simulate over painting for example or paint being worn off) Just vary your levels of grey The white out line layer we made will do this, giving a slightly stronger edge to the decal Then create a new layer and fill it entirely with black and position it below the white line layer and the fully grey layer just from the last couple of steps Select the white line layer and drop its opacity down to 50% Shift select all three alpha layers (the last three made) and merge them down (ctrl+e) Go to the channels tab and from the channels options arrow create a new spot channel, call it alpha1 Go back to the layers tab and with the merged layers selected select all (ctrl+a or menu-selection-select all) and copy it (ctrl+c) Go back to the channels tab select alpha1 and paste the copied layer into it (ctrl+v) Turn alpha1 off and the other channels on when finished(if necessary) Go back to layers and turn off the alpha layer (the blackish-whitish one), and turn on the underlying 3 layers (grey background, coloured decal, dark outline) and save it as a 32 bit tga save another copy as a psd if you want to come back and edit the decal later All done (clear as mud) Please if this is unintelligible garbage let me know and I can try to elaborate heres the psd to look atstork.rar hope this helps someone :)

  24. thanks :) problem with that I think is that it would mean repainting the underlying fabric (hard especially on lozenge or fokk streaks) to remove the "flares" But I'm only guessing that they wouldn't/couldn't want to repaint the Fabric guess its why some have a big white box instead of a rim...

I had a quick play with this today and I'm not sure its possible to change the decal with the date more than once :( maybe a Q for TK just in case its useful anyway heres a insignia replacement to play with insignia.rar You might find it a bit transparent on some skins (not extensively tested) let me know if its not what you hand in mind... on a side note I'm not really sure how those profile artist's think the transitional cross could be so thin... I'm probably missing something but the iron cross is awfully thick at the ends when you consider the white border as well... have fun
