  1. It's one effect, that is, you cannot specify separate coords, which is what I believe he is asking.
  2. Flight sims aren't first person shooters, where your reaction speed is dependent on your frame rate. If you can average 30-40 FPS with all the eye candy on, you're doing fine.
  3. Hummingbirds are extremely territorial, and often go for the eyes of rival Hummingbirds.
  4. Ship wakes aren't showing because of a z-buffering issue. Edit the ship wake emitters (there are two, one for the bow wake, and one for the "stern" wake) in the particle system.ini , as follows: ZBufferOffset=1.000000 <-----adjust value as necessary I plan to release a shader-driven wake effect, sometime in the future....if I ever find the time, that is
  5. The USS Intrepid is set to return to its berth in Manhattan, where further renovations are planned. It is scheduled to reopen to the public on November 8. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/10/u...ack_to_hud.html
  6. Simple answer: You reached the limits of the terrain map.
  7. Adding "intercept" to an aircraft's role will not enable it, as that mision type is not coded into WoV, to begin with. As WoV is essentially a "historic" sim, and was originally written to be flown only on the allied side, intercept as a mission type was omitted. AFAIK, the only way to enable that sort of mission, is to create a merged install by adding WoE, and choosing the merged install option when prompted.
  8. That would be nice. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Some models were fairly accurate to begin with, and simply require minor adjustments in CG and Landing Gear values. Many more need a revamping of their lift and drag values, and the remainder have to be completely re-written from scratch.
  9. Perhaps they're busy invading Nigeria, or something along those lines....
  10. Further reading; This webpage just touches on the basics of the F-4's handling charecteristics, though the author mistakenly used degrees of AoA, when in truth, those values are in Units of AoA: http://www.geocities.com/cap17.geo/FlightPerformance.html
  11. Again, look at the rudder on the F-4. It is canted at an angle. When you push on the rudder pedal(s), and induce a movement, the rudder's base on that bird swings out and downward. As the airflow strikes it, it does not do so perpendicularly. The bulk of the airflow is traveling upwards from the bottom of that control surface. This effect increases with AoA, so that only the upper portion of that control surface is rendered effective. That being the case, the majority of the air flow that's diverted by the rudder is well above the roll center of the aircraft. Guess what happens then?
  12. Most likely an old FM that needs to be updated.
  13. "Su-per tweet, su-per tweet.....the fastest way to turn jet fuel, into noise that ain't neat!"
  14. The ailerons (spoilers) on an F-4 are essentially useless above 15-18 units of AoA. They are, in fact, more likely to induce adverse yaw at that point, than would the rudder. Once you see 15 units on the gage, you must roll that beast with the rudder. FYI, I've corresponded with two former Phantom drivers, including one that has a MiG-19 kill to his credit.
  15. Don't feel bad, dwc. I live within 25 miles of Geo & Veltro2K, and I've never met either of them.
  16. I often get overflown by KC-10s out of McGuire AFB, and see the occasional F-16 out of AC 'intl. I was on the on the phone with Dave one evening, when a '16 flew by my place, close enough for Dave to hear it over the phone. He ID'd it from the sound, asking "Was that an F-16?" I'm also on the glide path to a small executive airport, so I often get to see old warbirds dropping in for fuel while enroute bewteen their homes and airshows. So far, I've seen a P-51, a brace of Texans, and a Corsair.
  17. Honey Barge?
  18. That issue exits because that mod is attempting to use one cloud layer tile, whereas by default, the game uses multiple tiles. Stick will attest to that, right, Stick?
  19. You use the rudder to roll the F-4. Think of how a rudder on an aircraft like the F-4 is hinged (obviously, on an angle), and picture what the airflow does as it strikes it, and you'll begin to understand why there's a roll component to a rudder input on some aircraft.
  20. Kreelin, I'm going to hide the keys from you, if you insist on leaving the Fulcrum outside every time you take it up for a spin.... the rest of the VIDEO
  21. Oh Column5 Beeg Pants, I marvel before your skills in bringing the great TomcatB sexplane to life, for the benefit of we, your minions at CA. It must have been quite exhausting! Watch Exhuasting Sexplane Video!
  22. Yes, I recall that being a point of contention when IL-2 first came out, tail gunners being able to "track" you through the clouds, as if they were imbued with some sort of super IR-vision
