  1. Check to see that CAStary's .tod and tga files are in your new terrain install. If they are, then it's an alpha-object issue, which could range in diificulty from simply editing the terraindata.ini, to an actual glitch somewhere in the core game .dlls.
  2. This is cool. It's overheads of known SAM sites around the world and their positions. It works with (and requires) Google Earth. Webpage: http://geimint.blogspot.com/2008/06/worldw...e-overview.html File Download: http://imintandanalysis.googlepages.com/SAMSiteOverview.kmz Remember to save it in "My Places" when you close Google Earth.
  3. Ranges , distances, and altitudes are all in meters. Speeds are in meters per second.
  4. Don and I were talking about you just the other day.....nothing good, either.... LOL... Welcome back, KB
  5. Oh Gawd....I made that mistake last week. There's a White Castle less than 4 miles from my house, and I felt "the crave" at midnight. 1/2 dozen sliders and a sack of fries after midnight = pain the following day. I'd been better off downing a fifth of Scotch, as my stomach would have felt the same either way, but at least the Scotch is more fun.
  6. The old standard: PB & J
  7. I wish that he'd get rid of those annoying "I'm going to DIE!!!!!" radio calls. We need an R-rated comms mod
  8. The two apps I mentioned in my previous post are available as free downloads.
  9. They're all TGAs, so you'll need a suitable program that allows you to work with tga files and alpha layers (GIMP, Paint.net, etc.). You'll have to also change the shore tiles to match....they're a pain. Also, we've found that dark, solid colors work best, if you plan on using water shaders, as the shader effects are rendered as a clear, animated "mask", and look best against the aforementioned dark tiles.
  10. Turning off shader effects will make absolutely no difference in FPS on an 8800GT. Shadows, however, are CPU-intensive.
  11. This series is very CPU intensive, and even more so now with SP5. I'm running a Wolfdale E8400 overclocked to 3600 mHZ, and I still set my horizon distance to "normal".
  12. Infantry is treated as an object. So, if it were there, you would have been able to select it as a target when you were close enough. I'll bet it was a few randomly placed AAA sites, probably ZU23-2s or 14.7s.
  13. Nope....its object role has nothing to do with its seeming invulnerability. That trait is due to it having a flight deck. If you remove that (trait), it will no longer be able to serve as a carrier.
  14. You're obviously not going to see a weapon with an in-service date of 1991 or later, in a mission flown before then.
  15. S!
  16. I've got a hunch. The answer to your dilema may have nothing to do with the "why" of it, but rather, the "when". What date are you attemptimg to equip aircraft with AMRAAMS?
  17. Had two WDs go Tango Uniform on me back in late 1998 (a 4.2 GB and a 6.4 GB), and none since then. I've replaced 6 or 7 Maxtors since the late 90s, due to failures. Never had a Seagate fail.
  18. One good turn deserves another.....Lookee what I got!!!!!! (I can just hear C5 groaning all the way up here )
  19. Another website, with a few pics: http://www.nikemissile.org/sandyhook.htm
  20. Nike Ajax....$3500 at an Army/Navy surplus store. The expressions on your neighbor's faces: priceless.... http://www.roadsideamerica.com/news/5796
  21. That's right...it's off. A constant acceleration at 0.077 G's for 3600 seconds equates to a distance travled of 4894797.6 meters , or 4894.7976 kilometers. Oh, wait, it said 4900 km. It's off by a stunning 5 klicks....lol Do you realize that if you were able to maintain a constant 1 G acceleration, in less than 3 years time, you'd be traveling at almost the speed of light? lol

  23. What's wrong with that? Like the song says "rust never sleeps"
