  3. Well, well.....another lost soul returns to the fold....welcome back Well, the SF1 series was last updated in 2008....so.....Most of us have moved onto SF2, as it offers better avionics, better graphics (DX10), and it's coded for multi-threading so as to take advantage of multi-core processors. The last two features make for better average frame rates. Should I mention better terrains, bump and specular mapped models, and a built in mission editor (available as a standalone download, or as part of expansion pack 2)? Just read through the threads.
  4. The only way to do it, is to edit the shader in order to extend the distance that normal maps visible from the players POV. But, unless you edit the number of normal maps per water tile, you wind up with oversized, fake-looking waves. This is what it I have it set to look like from 400 feet:
  5. Gawd.....I wouldn't compare JASF with even the lightest of the "lite" sims. JASF does have it place, though..... in an upright cabinet where one would feed it one quarter at a time.
  6. Unfortunately, specular maps in SF2 are called out in the .lod file, the same way textures and bump maps are. So unless one has the source file (or the .lod already has call-outs for them), they're out of luck.
  7. Open up any and every .ini in your effects folder that has an *afterburner* in it's name, scroll down to the material statement, and make sure that the first line under the material header is: EffectShaderName=effectFire.fx And that's all that's required
  8. Sound FX from an actual Mustang (at ground idle), Stary's environment mod with a few tweaks, Stary's WW2 tracers, JSF_Aggie's desert terrain tiles...and Gregory P's P-51D FM, again with a few tweaks to bring it up to Nov '11 standards.
  9. Check the SF2 knowledge base regarding adding material shader statements.
  10. Yes he is....the P-51D is just one example. Notice the difference in reflectivity between the aluminum "skin" and the anti-glare panel on the top of the nose? That's not in the 3d model, that's actually defined in it's specular map....just check the cat files
  11. We've had specular maps going back at least several patch levels.
  12. Another hint: High-cruise setting....
  13. Notice anything different?
  14. Could be worse, I imagine....could have been painted "Dead Fellow Yellow"
  15. You cannot be serious...right? One of the results of 30 seconds spent on Google while on the phone with Wrench..... http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww3/f/59/33/0#2

  17. A-6As during the 1960s, though there could be some debate as to what is, and what isn't considered "lockable". The BN in the A-6 located and selected a target, placed a cursor on its radar return, and then, the DIANE system provided steering and release point data to the pilot.
  18. I blame Dave, and his out-of-control Equine fetish, for getting us into this mess.
  19. Dawn patrol:
  20. Perhaps it will feature something completely unexpected:
  21. After he denies that ThirdWire has a Facebook page....
  22. It looks great so far Take your time, no one's rushing you.
