  1. Me wonder, Aren't you a convert to the new LOD terrain? Either way, Thanks for the good reception!, good to know I am not just making this mod for myself. Small update: - Houses are now more scandinavian style, for as far as possible. - Less villages on the map. - Some little tweaks here and there.
  2. UPDATE ALERT ;) - textures tilemap and heightmap have been tweaked, lakes have been added.
  3. The snow cover is now more convincing. Same download location, you can find it in the 1st post.
  4. That is mostly true, but not entirely. It will only work if you use a merged install. because the SF2NA executable requires a dll that XP lacks. Download my terrain of you want a Iceland remake that works properly in XP.
  5. I did that before, and actually I can open any CAT fully. but TK wants it locked, so when I would share, TK will just lock it even more, which is the last thing I want....
  6. Want to announce that the terrain I planned to make is ready and working as intended (for me at least). Topic with download
  7. Worked on this one today, it is much improved. Snow cover has been added. In fact, I am satisfied with the terrain, even if it uses just two dozen textures. Maybe I will add the lakes I noticed further inland..
  8. The runways are fixed. The tiling is improved a bit. For me it works on Win XP with a merged install, but that is just based on my observation, no guarantee.
  9. http://www.gb-homepage.nl (Go to link above, then click on the Strike Fighters page) HFD/TFD ICELAND Terrain for Strike Fighters 2 North Atlantic ..or for any other game from the Strike Fighters Series. Remake of the Stock Direct-X 10 Lod based terrain, but in the classic HFD/TFD format. FEATURES: - A natural looking texture tileset, being a blend of ThirdWire's, gerwin/GB's and Stary's work. - Gives High framerates and requires only a short loading time. - Better low altitude radar evasion behaviour compared to the stock terrain. - Shorelines and Lakes. - Towns, millions of trees and even geysers (last two are made by Stary). - As the target locations are unchanged, the campaign remains 100% functional. - Seemingly windows XP compatible with a merged install. - Works with any Strike Fighters Game; Wings over Vietnam, Europe, Isreal etc. - Includes some toned-down textures for the SF2NA Iceland buildings and trees. Note: Since the introduction of brown/stone tiles this release is for now incompatible with Stary's high-res tileset on CombatAce. Though his artwork is by default integrated in this install, blended with the original tileset. INSTALLATION FOR SF2NA: Put the files in the proper Strike fighters mods folder. By default (for an English Windows) this would be the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic\Terrains\IcelandNA As it is configured now, it will replace the stock Iceland terrain in the game. ABOUT SF2NA UNDER WINDOWS XP: -SF2NA is officially not compatible with windows XP, as written in red letters in the store page. -SF2NA can seemingly be run on windows XP with a merged game, by starting another game from SF2 the series. StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic.exe itself gives a DLL error. Therefore the StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic mod folder remains unused in XP. Use another mod folder. -The SF2NA stock terrain will not render properly on Windows XP / DirectX 9. Use this terrain mod to work around that. SUGGESTED PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS XP USERS: Copy "StrikeFighters2.exe" and rename it "StrikeFighters2 NA XP.exe" in the same folder. Copy "StrikeFighters2.ini" and rename it "StrikeFighters2 NA XP.ini" in the same folder. Remove the 'read only' tag from "StrikeFighters2 NA XP.ini" and change this entry at the bottom: [Module] ModuleDataFile=ModuleNorthAtlantic.cat DefaultTerrainData=IcelandNA DefaultAircraft=F-14A The Module line enables the SF2NA menu backgrounds. Run StrikeFighters2 NA XP.exe, it will then automatically create the "StrikeFighters2 NA XP" mod folder. in which to put this terrain mod. INSTALLATION FOR SF2 OTHER THEN SF2NA: Put the files in the proper Strike fighters mods folder. By default (for an English Windows) this would be the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Terrains\ Copy the files from the 'standalone' folder to the main IcelandNA folder (The Naval forces from SF2NA will not be present) INSTALLATION FOR SF1: Put the IcelandNA folder in the game's 'Terrain' folder Copy the files from the 'standalone' folder to the main IcelandNA folder Remove ICELANDNA_DATA.INI, which is for SF2. then rename the file '- SF1 - ICELANDNA_DATA.INI' to ICELANDNA_DATA.INI. (The Naval forces from SF2NA will not be present)
  10. Uploaded a new version. I noticed the target locations on planningmaps of larger maps (above 2000x2000km) are off. This is now fixed. still v0.81.
  11. OK, glad it it works now. I don't want no bugs in my humble creation. Good luck with that terrain.
  12. Yes LOD based is what TK told us. I hope one can just replace the LOD with a classic HFD/TFD of the same size, whilst keeping the target locations intact. Edit: To me SF2NA has plenty value, even considering Iceland does not look nice in XP for now: All these new US and Soviet planes and ships. awesome!
  13. I tried it. First I thought it was working. Then I thought it never worked because I never saw DX10 stuff like the fading in of buildings. I removed it since. Again, I just need a cat extractor to open up icelandNA.cat, then make a TFD/HFD tilemap based replacement. should be easy. Right?
  14. Thanks for uploading the terrain. Somewhere along the way TFDtool took the maximum tile entry in theTFD as the last tile, I changed it so that in case the data ini has a higher entry, it will take that instead, as it should. Also I added a small Tile File info dialog, with the "I" key. I call it v0.81, you can download it with the link in post no. 1.
  15. The Strike fighters north atlantic executable gives this DLL error, But any other merged or semi merged march 2012 executable will run, and does allow you to play all aspects of north atlantic. Setting water to low shows blue water and green iceland, but not as intended. It does work however. If you also want the NA background you have to rename the original "Strike fighters 2 north atlantic" executable to "_Strike fighters 2 north atlantic" and rename "strike fighters 2 vietnam" or any of the other ones, to "Strike fighters 2 north atlantic" As soon as there is a working CAT extractor I will try to make a stand in Iceland terrain based on the old Tilemap system .
  16. Wrench, I did not read your post before. It suggests the problem is in the ini. If so, please send me an ini file with that problem.
  17. Maybe we could find out wheter (1) the entries in the ini are causing it, or (2) the actual texture files. In case of the latter: Are these BMP/TGA's ? what size. could u upload one of the textures so I can test it...
  18. The front cockpit framing of the cockpit belongs to the mesh "nose". This mesh includes the whole nose. So no way to remove it without removing the entire nose AFAIK.
  19. or 2562 if necessary. :) Also you can edit MiG-29A.ini, make the distance of LOD001 smaller. so it will use the Low detail LODs earlier.
  20. My guess is Monday 27 feb 2012. Funny contest.
  21. Not a chance, Lately I am wasting all my time on relocating and a work deadline.
  22. It is noted, actually I already thought of adding mouse coordinates before. I just have to add it in someday...
  23. I tried to increase it again, but things are starting to freak out!!!?? Compiler errors at 8000 tiles. Empty dialogs at 6000 tiles. 2000x2000 tiles and 4000x4000 tiles gave no such problems. So I don't know what to do yet...
