Hey Carlo
Brain32 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I will just drop a note here hopefully it will pass NHF lol Anyway I use the ol' F4F/ICE I found on colum5's site A LOT, that baby did come with already nice paintjob but I wouldn't mind if somebody would go nuts with it and make a new one lol -
WoV Weapons Pack Emergency
Brain32 replied to Anthony W.'s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That pack will not work with new game versions (Oct2008) you need to either: a) run all weapons through new weapon editor(as fun as shaving your intimate areas with a rusty chainsaw) b) download the "2.52 community weapons pack" which is a fully functional beta and once you install it you are good to go EDIT: for WoV I run default wepons, it has a pretty good coverage of what you will need in standard Vietnam war scenarios ;) -
Favorite Mods, Aircraft of 2008
Brain32 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well Dave to tell you the truth I had no clue about what was exactly released in 2008, I had to look at DL section dates to check some stuff. About only one item hmmm I would probably go with the Gripen....or EF2000...maybe F-35? Hmmm F-22 is also 2008...hmmm We need more choices! :D If you really consider plane of the year voting/contest, I suggest a list of planes released in 2008 and 5 options to choose, comments forbidden, only designations - does that sound too harsh? lol -
Poor FPS

Nope that explains everything. -
Poor FPS
Brain32 replied to DamonSchumi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
OK but how come then regardless of AI units and objects in the air, I get FPS improvement by lowering graphics options? Simple example on of the F-15 quick missions in WoI, all maxed out I get like 9-20fps, I lower horizon, mirrors, reflections, shadows which are all graphics options and that same mission with same amount of objects as before runs at like 30-40fps on average lol -
Poor FPS
Brain32 replied to DamonSchumi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
well I have mirrors off, canopy reflections off, horizon near-medium, shadows medium everything else maxed out on 1024 4xaa/16xAF and get 25-80fps, I guess around 40 average - I'm quite happy with that for now :) -

You have ATI we could have ATI HD85200063589436115 GTX TWIN TURBO, we would still have 25 or lower, why? Ask TK I have no clue... Set horizon to medium or even near and if that does not help then drop the mirrors and canopy reflections... Yeah if you own an ATI card, no matter how super-powerfull it is, you really have to like this game to run it lol -
Gun jam
Brain32 replied to New Guy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
What excatly is the difference between guns that jam(e.g. 50cal on a Sabre) and guns that don't jam(e.g. Vulcan)? -
I just came home from a NY party at my friends, I'm typing this becuase I find those 6ft I need to cross to my bed an uneasy task, hopefully I will eventually decide to go... Oh and one more thing: Amen to that! All the best in 2009 to all!

Ok Here Is the Big Question.
Brain32 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well my problem with this is basically in which situation, is this reffereing about mods I "can't live" without or more based around my current setup? If it's about mods I can't live without then... 1. WoeOct2008 2. F-16,MiG-29,Su-27(with WoE's F-15A this can give me a nice USAF vs VVS kick off) 3. my WoE higher res job(Stary's trees are included ;)))) ), my customized TMF WoE/WoV Feb2008 wep pack 4. probably Korea In the end I will just add that this would be too cruel, and that I agree with column5's inital comment lol -
You have "arcade" mode on, when this thing is on it shows the trajectory of bullets and shrapnels after impact with your and enemy planes. To turn it off, open your "conf.ini" search for "arcade" -without qutation marks and change the value back to 0

****Hi res replacement tiles for DBS terrain v0.99b**** This is a simple repaint of tiles for DBS terrain, the reasons this is not v1.00 are following - I am not happy with the transition from "SeaIce" to "Sea" area and need to make transition tiles to smooth it up, for that I will need original texturelist of the first DBS terrain... - As you will notice theese tiles are done in 1024x1024, I have been making such tiles on all my recent work anyway then downsizing them to 512, after a few days if there will be enough intrest in this I will post a poll on CA to see if anybody actually notices significant enough visual improvement for me to continue with 1024 tiles, yes I need test bunnies lol INSTALLATION: Simply unzip into DBS terrain folder and overwrite when asked, I recommend backing it up in case you want to revert to the old ones. NOTES ON PERFORMANCE: I didn't expirience any performance loss even with higher resolution tiles(2048) however, mission loading times will probably increase! -

Possible to erase the labels?
Brain32 replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You have something set to "easy" nit sure what, I do believe however it's the HUD option, if you set it to "NORMAL" the labels are gone, but target box remains... Oh and guys do bother to read around before posting ;)
