  1. I JDAM costs approx 100.000$. 70 * 100.000 = 7 million. Nice price for a firework.

  3. My vote is for Fokker Dr.1.
  4. The weapon editor you must run in compatibly mode for Windows95. The it will work
  5. I use only Firefox and i have no problems too.
  6. Ups, then i should rename the bird into MiG-21bisD1-3.
  7. Exactly. The delivery of weapons was not as important, thats true. But the delivery of food, ammo, fuel and trucks was essential. A T-34 was superior to the Sherman, the Schpagin 41 MPi was much better then the M-1 Garant, but without food you cant fight, without ammo you cant shoot and without fuel you cant drive. And this "soft" powers were the important help from the USA.
  8. According to Yefim Gordons book and other sources the Ye-8 had a curve radius which was nearly the half of the MiG-21PF. At high altitudes the 21 was able to turn with 2.5g the Ye-8 with 4.3g. One of the main problems with tight turning a MiG-21 was not the design of the wings, but the air intake. Under certain circumstances (low speed turn for instance) the airflow was to small and i came to pompage and later zu engine stall. Without this problem the 21 would have been able to curve much better. The Ye-8 had a much bigger air intake, so it was able to use the full capacity of the wing. Back to the 23. Operating the 23 is a complex thing. Its expensive in comparison to the 21. And there are the problems with the swing wing base. Cracks in this area are a common thing and this is dangerous. Toryu, i will try to find the source of my statement of acceleration tests between the 23ML and F-16A. You must take in account, that the F-16 is designed as dogfighter. The air intake is not moveable, so the engine get problems at higher speed and cant give the full power. The 23 is designed as interceptor, for fast intercept missions without dogfight. Its optimized for it. So it has a very low drag, while the bubble canopy and the big air intake of the F-16 generates a bigger drag.

This mod is written for WoX (a SF2 version will follow later) +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ II. History: In January 1991 the Bundesverteidigungsministerium (ministery of defence of the Federal Republic Germany) decided to phase out all MiG-21 which were handed over after the reunification of Germany and scrap them. Two mounth later ingenieurs of the german DASA company (became later part of EADS) wrote a letter of memorandum to the chairmen of their company. In their memo they stated, that an updateprogram for the MiG-21 would be a profitable cashcow for the DASA company. As reasons for their statement they gave some points: 1. Repair and updatefacilities are already existing with the Flugzeugwerft Dresden 2. Skilled personal is available 3. Good connections to eastern Europe contries are given, because a lot of WP MiG's were repaired and overhauled in Dresden in the past. 4. The eastern european states are attempting to leave the zone of influence of the Sovietunion and will try to become closer to the western alliance. 5. The economic situation of the former WP states is so weak, that it is unlikely, that they will be able to purchase modern western equipment in the next decade. What means, that they will use the weapons they already have for a while. 6. The backbone of the fighter fleet of states like Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Romania is still the MiG-21. Its an easy and cheap to operate plane and it is believed, that this plane will held in operational status till the year 2000. Conclusion: For states which are willing to become members of the NATO and still operating the MiG-21 is an offer of a german made MiG-21 update program a welcome gift. It brings the MiG-21 to NATO standard and helps the economic weak states to operate a significant fighter fleet. To support our selling attempts is is neccessary, that the Luftwaffe must operate the updated MiG-21 in significant numbers over a periode of 5 years minimum. In March 1991 the chairmen of the DASA decided to start a MiG-21 update program. Close informal connections to the Bundeskanzleramt and the MOD changed the fate of the MiG-21 in german service. The former east german Jagdgeschwader 8, based in Preschen, was relaunched under the new name "Erprobungsgeschwader 8". As operating aircraft only the MiG-21bis was choosen. In April 1991, the DASA offered 3 update levels for the MiG-21 with the task to improve the combat capabilities of the plane by minimal changes in original design. The project name was MiG-21bisD. The D stands for Deutschland, the german name for Germany. MiG-21bisD1, electronic update. It consist of the replacement of the RP-22 radar with the italian Grifo-7M, the implementation of an avionics container at the tailfin root, which contains an internal jammer SPS-142, a chaff - flare dispenser and parts of the NATO compatible radio equipment. The weapon system was modified to operate Sidewinder missiles, side by side with soviet made weapons. Only the R-3R missile was withdrawn, because the radar was unable to guide this weapon. The first MiG-21bisD1 was ready in November 1991 and entered the german service in spring 1992. In August 1992 the first MiG-21bisD1 was sold to Poland. MiG-21bisD2, agility update. With this update the MiG-21bis got a pair of canards to improve the agility of the plane, an inflight refuel probe, new NATO compatible radio and a new french made IFF system. The radar RP-22 was slightly improved by better computers, so that the range was increased by 10% and the target quisition time reduced by 50%. The weapon system changes consist only of the Sidewinder implementation. The first D2 was completed in December 1991 and entered german service in summer 1992. First costumer was the Czech Republic in spring 1993, followed by Hungary in summer 1993. MiG-21bisD3, full NATO compatibility. This modification included the MiG-21bisD1 avionic update and the D2 agility update. Additionally the plane plane got a new engine. The old R-25-300 was replaced by the RB-199 Mk.105 which was developed for the Tornado ECR. It was ~ 5% stronger than the R-25 and a good piece shorter. The now existing space was used for a bigger internal fuel volume. In Spring 1992 the first MiG-21bisD3 started for maiden flight, but the program came to a temporary stop, when the british company GEC Marconi Avionics offered their Blue Hawk and Blue Vixen radars to the program. In summer 1992 the implementation of the Blue Vixen was finished and in spring 1993 the plane became able to operate the new american AIM-120A AMRAAM missile. The first MiG-21bisD3 entered the german service in November 1993. It proofed as a reliable, capable and cheap to operate aircraft. In 1993 the "Erprobungsgeschwader 8" was renamed in JG75 "Erich Hartmann". It operated the MiG-21bisD3 and a later D4 update till it was replaced by the first Eurofighter Typhoon in 2004. Poland got the D3 in 1995, Romania in 1996. India showed an increased interesse for a licence production of the D3, but when the USA denied the AMRAAM capability India retreated from program and purchased the MiG-21BISON from Russia. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ III. 10. A WoX version of all 3 MiG-21bisD versions is uploaded. Needs only the Okay from admin. For a SF2 version i will need a week to be ready. Unfortunatly i cant include the nice splinter camo into the pack, because i was unable to contact the guy who made it and he had not signed the freeware agreement.
  11. Since a couple of years the place of the russian president is not anymore on the tribune of the Lenin mausoleum. But i dont know, wheter Putin had broken with the communist tradition of standing on the Lenin mausoleum .or wheter it was Yelzin already.

  13. Hab ich es nicht gesagt, Deutschland versagt. Eine echte Gruselveranstaltung mit einem Sieger bei dem sich meine Perestaltik rückwärts bewegt.
  14. Ehm, not all points are correct. The F-16A had had no built in ECM capability. You had to hang on an external jammer and this option was not used during Lebanon war in 1982. The F-16A was not faster and could also not accelerate as fast as a MiG-23. This was tested by the Israelis with this syrian MiG-23ML. It was astonishing for the Israelis, that the ML was able to outrun a F-16.
  15. The MiG-23 was a failure because the much better Ye-8 development was canceled in favor for the swing wing design. With the Ye-8 the soviets had had a fighter with a agility of the F-16 ten years before the F-16 development was started, but the strong believe was, that the time of dogfight was over and thatswhy outstanding dogfight capabilities would be not neccessary anymore. Between the single MiG-23 versions are a lot of differences, while the M or MF was so agile like the F-4E, the ML was much more agile, especially, when the pilot used the "non existing" wing position of 30°. East german MiG-23 pilots wrote, that for dogfight this position was used instead the usual 45° or 16°. And at 30° the ML was astonishing fast trough a curve. The MLD with the aditionally dogtooth at the wingroot was again a bit more agile. But it was never a match for a F-16, F-18 or F-15 in close combat. The combat manuals said, that close combat was to avoid by all means. Hit and run tactics was the only way to fight. That the US pilots stated, that the MiG-23 was an unforgiving plane is partly correct. The MiG-23 was flown with constant autopilot support. This point the egyptians not told to the US when they sold some MiG-23, so the US pilots flew a long time without autopilot support and under this condition the MiG-23 is deadly for the own pilot. On the other hand, the early autopilot was not reliable. Even with autopilot support it is tricky to fly, especially at very low altitudes. The LSK lost some MiG-23BN which had had the old autopilot sytem due failures of this system. With the autopilot of the MF or ML the failures were history and the plane was also handable by an average skilled pilot.
  16. Shit happens if you underestimate the enemy. And the french underestimated the Viet Minh by all means. Nobody in french and american staffs were able to believe that the vietnamese side would be capable to send large numbers of artillery into the Dien Bien Phu area. Nobody fortified Dien Bien Phu in that way, that it could be able to withstand arty fire. Because it was unthinkable that the "little yellow bastards" will be able to bring arty into place. And when uncle Hos troops oppend the fire, the battle was lost for the french from first day. Wrong place, wrong strategy, wrong tactics, wrong fortification, wrong supplylines. The whole Vietnam quagmire could have been avoideable for the USA. Ho Chi Minh worked together with the OSS in fight against Japan. US officers trained Ho's soldiers, US troops supplied Ho's troops in fight against the Tenno. The independence parade of the VietMinh was held in front of US officers. The vietnamese declaration of independence is word by word the same as the USA declaration of independence. When the french invaded Indochine in 1945 to regain their old colony Ho Chi Minh send a couple of calls of help to Washington and he was ignored. So he was forced to get support by China and the USSR. A big failure of US diplomacy, which costs 55.000 US soldiers some years later.
  17. May 9. 1945. Victory day. In all former states of the Soviet Union the highest celebration day. Has nothing to do with the Ukraine thing. Of course it was a propaganda show, but other military parades are similar. On July 14. the french celebrate their annual big parade.
  18. The 2014 Moscow Victory Parade (russian language) Interesting points: some marching units had new mods of AK-74M guns leading motorized formations showed the flag of the Crimea and Sevastopol vehicles had St Georgs bagde stripes all T-90A with welded turret a lot of mobile SAM Buk-M,Kub-M2, Pantsir, S-300, Chrysantema helicopters Mi-26, Mi-8, Ka-52, Mi-28, Mi-35 planes AN-22, AN-124, A-50 Mainstay, IL-76, MiG-29SMT, MiG-31, Su-24M, Su-34, IL-78 and Tu-160 air refuel sim, Tu-95, Tu-22M3, Su-27, MiG-29, Su-25 motorized vehicles starts at 50:10 aviation parade starts at 1:02:35
  19. First costumer of the MiG-21bisD1 update was Poland. First MiG-21bisD2 was sold to Czech Republic. In front an experimental splinter camo in background the pale NATO gray camo.
  20. All values in WoX and SF2 are given in metric system. What means meters and centimeters instead inch and feet. For the weights it is kg instead lbs.
  21. The 3d job is made by Alejandro. So it could be possible to create a D4 version without canards. But at the moment i'm not working on such a version. My german MiG-21bis update program consist of 3 steps. At the first i plan to make the MiG-21bisD1 as electronic update program with new western Radar (Grifo-M), jammer, chaff and flare. The MiG-21bisD2 will be a agility update program with canards and inflight refuel probe, but without improved avionics. The MiG-21bisD3 will recieve the D1 electronics update, plus D2 canards and refuel probe, new RB199 Mk.105 engine and slightly increased fuel capacity. Perhaps i will give her an other western Radar (Blue Vixen) with AMRAAM capability, must check first, wheter a Blue Vixen would fit into the nosecone of the MiG-21bis. Logans air intake is designed for the place, where i put the avionics container. I could only use it in the D2 version, but the old R25 engine does not need an aditional airflow. The IR seeker, i think, would not fit in the design philosophy of a westerized modprogram of the early 90th. But for a russian style update it is a good idea. Perhaps i should start a rework of my old MiG-21BISON mod. But first will come the german bisD. The 2 weeks timeframe is not the usuals joke. I think if all mod work will run fine, i could release the bisD series in mid May.

    Never Again!

This statement is only correct for the east jewish community (Poland, Russia etc). In western or central Europe the jewish people lived mostly among the other people. Side by side, flat by flat, house by house. The children went into the same schools, the adults worked togheter. Today we would say, they were completly integrated. Nevertheless the jewish people were used as "whipping boys". If something went wrong, who was fault: the jews. Its a simple political methode. And it is used up today. Perhaps you will know some of the "whipping boys"like: the liberals, the foreigners, the conservatives, Europe, the capitalists, the global warming, the industry, the blacks, the whites, the latinos and and and. Faulty are always the others. And in Nazi Germany it hit the jews and this with german efficency and organisation talent. That was devasting. But the hate on jews grew not alone in Germany. Do you have asked yourself, how the Nazigermans were able to find so many jewish people in the occupied contries? How many native supporters they must have had? And the more supporters, the more jews were captured. The fewest support gave the danish people, they rescued a lot of their jewish neighbors. The most support was in Poland, Whiterussia and the Westukraine. There were massacres made by polish, whiterussian and ukrainian people, who killed their neighbors, so that the SS had nothing to do. This is no excuse for the german crimes of the Shoa and the industrial style genocide.
  23. Backgroud for my question is the soviet engine R-25. It has a mil thrust of 40.2 kN and a full AB thrust of 69.6kN. But for a short time it is possible to boost the engine to phenomenal 97.1 kN. But only for 3 minutes, because the engine overheats and only for altitudes below 4.000 meters. Is there a way to implement this feature in game?
  24. You must use the correct close routine when using the Weapon Editor. After changing the entries you must save the file and then press the "CLOSE" button, not the "x" button.
