Can someone tell me this MiG-21MF Unit?
Gepard replied to liamp51's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yes, its a very nice skin. But had not had the czech "NATO"-rized MiG-21MF a small black antenna an the back? I think this was the MiG-21MFN. But perhaps this bird was not brought to the MFN standard. Here an other interesting czech camo sceme: Made by Michael Urban You see the black antenna i mentioned short before the tail. -
The best point of TK is, that he is listening to his costumers. So a lot of small improvements were included in the games. Of course this need patience and time and steady asking from our side. I can remember that in the first versions all data were only displayed in imperial system, miles, knots etc. I had a lot of problems to work with this system, and a lot of other people had it too, and after lots of asks TK made it possible to switch from imperial to the metric system. I think every step forward is good. If TK sells his F-14 as DLC, then i will buy it. It would be the very first "must have" DLC, the others are only mods, i could do myself or that i have done already long ago. if he decided to sell the F-14 as EXP3 pack, then its okay too. If he includes a better carrier management it would be great. I agree, that we have the TMF F-14's and that they are great planes, really great mods. But i think that TK's flightmodel would be very different from the existing one. It would fit better to the other stock planes of the SF world, then our flight model guesses. Thatswhy i would like to see a F-5 or MirageF1 from TK. Not because the TMF models are bad, in contrary, but to become flightmodels of this birds that would fit to the stock SF world.

Upgraded Indian AF MiG-29B - First Pic!
Gepard replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Long time ago the MiG-29 was a nice bird, but with this humpback it looks ugly. -
What the hell the Marines are doing in Afghanistan? Wont it be better if they would rush the buildings of the hedge fonds and arrest the gambling people there!

Here a picture from the other side of the iron curtain. A Su-22M4 of the LSK (east german air force) in less than 10 meters over the runway.

OilRig beta.rar

Young Octobrist? No Octoberchildren they were called. It were the first class in school. Later they were called Lenin pioniers, than, when became 13 or 14 years they got members of the Komsomol. What is called here in the forum as Political Youth Camp is simply a holiday camp made by a political party for children of members of this party or for members of the youth organisation of that party. It has nothing to do with political indoctrination. You can compare it with a Pathfinder Camp or with holiday camps a church is made for their youth. To come back to the main topic of our forum, the aviation. Its very astonishing, that the norwegian police was unable to find a helicopter to bring the SWAT team to the island to protect the children. If the own police helicopters were all in action and buzy with the bomb explosion in Olso, why they have not called an military helicopter or a civilian one?

I think he used a corrupted weapondata.ini. Or a version which does not fit to his basic game, perhaps a non patched WOE and a weapon pack which is made for october08 Patch.

Campaign Success trigger?
Gepard replied to gerwin's topic in Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
The game engine need ground units to decide wheter victory or not. Victory is only achieved when the enemy base area is captured. -
Norway is part of the anti Ghadaffi coalition, doesnt it? Maybe an act of revenge ...? Ghadaffi had threatened the west that he would do terror acts if the NATO doesnt stop the bombing.

Perhaps they will store the blueprints of the Shuttle correctly. The blueprints of the Saturn V are gone with the wind. -
The main difference between europe and america of this timeframe was the quality of the soldier. In america the north fought with 90 days volunteers with no real military training, while the southern army had a strong militia character. The officers corps was in its mass amateurs, also not better then the 90 days volunteers, what does not mean, that there were no some skilled officers, generals and in the mass brave fighting soldiers. In the contrary had the european greatpowers well trained armies which based on the compulsory military service, what means, that nearly all men of a people (french, german, austrian, russian etc) had had a military training. The officers corps and even more the generals were in the mass profis. The war planning was high professional at all sides, the mobilization system was outstanding for Prussia and acceptable for France and Austria. This was the strong side of the european armies in the mid/late 19th century while it was the weakpoint of the US Aamy in this timeframe. The US american military was more directed to fight rather colonial or indian wars than to fight a modern army. Its a big difference between slauthering an indian village or fight a "big" battle like Little Big Horn in the strength of a regiment and the mass battles between thousands of combatants. This had had the american military leaders to learn. Captain Vengeur, deciding was the skill of the leadership. The skill of the prussian staff of generals was outstanding. The defeat of Austria in a short campaign, the victory of Königgrätz (Sadova for the French, because they could not speak the word Königgrätz )and more the great victory at Sedan 1870 over Napoleon III, were masterpieces of military leadership. Up today Sedan is topic of all military academies, beside of Cannae and Stalingrad. If the american generals north or south would have had only a fraction of the strategic skills of Moltke and Co the civile war would have been not so long and bloody. Thatywhy i call this war a bungling.

Primary/ seconadary guns, or gun groups
Gepard replied to Capitaine Vengeur's topic in General Discussion
I tested it. Seems to be thats there is no way to make the AI using both gungroups. -
To be honest, it was the bloodiest war in Ameria thats true, but compared with the european wars of this area it was a stupid game of violent children. The prussian/austrian-danish war of 1865, the prussian-austrian war of 1866 or the german-french war of 1870/71 are examples of modern warfare of this periode of time. Fought much more skilled and much more modern than the american bungling between 1861 and -65. I know, that my words will not be loved by our american friends. But they are the truth.

Yes its sad. But not because the program has finished, but because there is nothing which comes after the Shuttles. Personally i would like to see a new small Shuttle.Perhaps a bigger version of the X-37B vehicle. 10 tons weight, 1 - 2 astronauts as crew and a loading bay which could be filled with a lot of modules. One module for passenger transfer with docking port for the ISS, one for freight transport to the ISS, one module with roboarm for repair missions, one module for .... Its only a dream. -

Of course the quality of pilot training is very important. An unexperienced pilot in the most modern plane can be shot down by an excellent pilot in an outdated bird. Had happend often enough in history. The fact that i not mentioned the F-14 was, that they were not really part of the european flying circus. The USN played their own games as far as i know, they never played at Decci.
-
Yes, Japan was the big surprise of the championship. They played an excellent football. I think it was the best team indeed. Of course the lacked the fighting power of the american or german girls. But they never gave up and never lost their nerves. And finally they won. Congratulations, Japan!

In Decci (Decciomomannu located in Italy at Sardinia island) is situated the european air combat training centre of the NATO. Here all types of fighter planes which are used in Europe are flying. So it was too in the 90th when the MiG-29 appeared. Here the german MiG's fought against spanish F-18, french Mirages of all fighter types, british Tornados, european and american F-16, US F-15, and of course the good old Phantom. By using it phemomenal agility of the plane, the Shlem helmet targeting device and the outstanding R-73 missile the MiG-29 proofed superior to all foes at short distances. When talking to german MiG-29 drivers, they told me that the F-18 was the western plane which was the hardest opponent in close combat. One sentencece i will never forget: "The americans win their dogfights in the debriefings with their mouth, we win in the air." MiGBuster, you mention the actual combat, which is dominated by BVR combat. The german MiG-29 were late 80th models. This was the time before AMRAAM and its russian counterpart R-77 (AA-12 Adder). Of course is a plane armed with a active radar guided missile superior to a plane with only SAHM missiles. So a F-16C is superior to a MiG-29A in BVR. And only such engagements were made in the last decade. If you have to face a MiG-29S with a F-16C you will have no BVR superiority. Then all depends on the ability of the groundcontrolers or AWACS.
