Got mine at christmas, still looking for even a temp job to see me through to entering the Navy. Have pretty much come to the conclussion that the "advisors" at the Job centre are a waste of space, every two weeks I need to meet them to discuss what I've been doing to find work.... and every time their advice is to try what I've already been doing since November (saw what way the wind was blowing before we went bust). Fact is there is very little to be had and my "new car fund" is taking a beating through living costs... :( Craig

Cool, always a fan of What If FAA projects. Actually did a naval Tornado myself a few months ago though nothing as in depth as this, just ini edits and decal edits in much the same way as Spinners works his magic. Also had an FAA Jag M more or less ready to release if anyone wants it, kinda hopping someone does a Jaguar IM so I can do one with a radome. Craig

F-108!

Like Gunrunner said its the Vought submission for the VFX cmopetition, the model V-507 :) Craig -
Perhaps set the Bear as hostile and mission type to intercept but include a moddified data ini for the Bear with the gun entries deleted or the ammo count reduced to nil? I think thats what was done in the Gulf of Sidra mission set, two scenarios from either side, one historically acurate where they engage and one where the Cats esscort the toothless MiGs away from the CVBG. Hey just flew a couple of missions, noticed a couple of minor things but no major problems getting it running. Everyone is using "showtime" as their callsign which gets a little confusing. The wake for the carrier dosnt show although it does for the esscorts. All missions appear to be set as strikes so on say an intercept (Bear) you can't be successful. Finally I might have used the wrong Bear though it was the only one I've found, had to edit TU-95M-something back to TU-95M for it to show. Anyway thanks for these, great fun flying a modern navy jet... even if I am a tomcat fan lol Craig

Typhoon
fallenphoenix1986 replied to Romflyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I could be wrong but didnt you have to also go into the config ini and change the following "AvionicsDLL=Avionics70.dll" to "AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll". Craig -
I wouldnt bet on it, the OCU was clossed last year and 56 Sqn amalgamated into 43 Sqn now leaving only 43 and 111 operating the type. IIRC both are slatted for Typhoon conversion. Even if there was the desire within the RAF to retain the type in limited numbers given the premature retirement of the Sea Harrier FA.2 and Jaguar I doubt the gov would be willing to hold onto what is potentially yet another cost cutting measure.... If it is accurate that the pilots on the squadron were aware of the maintenance condition of this jet yet continued to fly it anyway then he may be liable for criminal negligence, ie. a potentially catostrophic fuel system problem was left uncorected for months. 146 flights in an aircraft that is known to have a crippling flaw is utterly unforgivable. As to not looking at checklists maybey we can put this down to being a highly stressed rookie however, SOP in the event of an engine failure is land as soon as possible and that is drummed into you before you are allowed in the jet. So there isn't really any excuse that I can see for passing up North Island, even more so for the fact that it is an overwater approach. Craig

Ok, landing on a certain carrier I have a problem if I roll out to far, as soon as I cross onto the overhang I fall into the sea. I tried editing the flight deck width from 31.8 to 35.8 however this was a guess and has had no effect in game. I tried a search for a fix but came up empty handed, so is there anything I can do to remedy this without having access to the model? [Deck] SystemType=FLIGHT_DECK FlightDeckHeight=16.6081 ;15.19 FlightDeckLenght=267.04 FlightDeckWidth=35.80 LandDeckAngle=-8.0 CollisionMesh=Flight_Deck Craig

I have started the application process to become an RAAF pilot

Try to remain calm, some of the tests are inate skills that you either have or don't and as a reult can't prepare for, ie spacial awareness, hand eye coordination and multi tasking. What you can brush up on is mental arithmatic and asuming they follow the same format as the RAF/FAA current affairs. Also like most have already said a good nights sleep can't hurt either. Good luck mate. Craig -
I've recently installed the Arromanches (looks great btw) however when I go around or any time I've tried to do a rolling take off after having landed I spontaneously explode as soon as I reach the deck edge. I had a look at the ini's of both the ship and aircraft and I dont see anything jumping out at me, any ideas guys? TMF F4U-7 SFP1 Oct08 Craig

The F-84, Can I Get the Real Story?
fallenphoenix1986 replied to Anthony W.'s topic in Military and General Aviation
It certainly had its place however the joke at the time was: "Lord don't give me an F-84. That b!tch is a ground loving wh**e. She'll pitch and she'll roll. Then she'll dig a big hole. Lord don't give me an F-84" Probably penned by a Sabre jokey having a dig but it stuck. I also recall an artical I read a few years back about the nuclear armed birds stationed in either the UK or Germany and with one bomb and drop tanks she would take every last inch of the runway to get up... and on one or two occasions was known to fail to rotate and subsequently plough whatever was at the end of the base. Craig -
these guys I think: http://avhistory.org/communityserver/default.aspx thought they were only concerned with MS products however if they are moving to TK's sims then theyre welcome, they used to have some really awesome birds back when I was still involved with CFS2 Craig

I really wouldnt worry about your english, su inglés es mucho mejor que mi español lol. No he utilizado mi español por tres años o tan. Interesting little bird youve got there, kinda looks like the result of a romantic night in the hangar between an F-18 and an F-22 lol Craig
