Got the solution to this one chaps, its the 32bitzbuffer, I set it to false in the options and now i'm back to a steady 60fps, can anyone else with the problem confirm this resolves the issue. I now believe there is a conflict between the 32bit zbuffer and the avionics60.dll. Change this, [GraphicsOptions] DisplayDeviceID=0 DisplayWidth=1920 DisplayHeight=1080 DisplayDepth=32 AspectRatio=1.777778 AntiAliasing=4 ForceDX9=FALSE ForceVSyncOff=FALSE Use32BitZBuffer=FALSE <---change from TRUE to FALSE LensFlare=0 DetailLevel=2 ObjectDetail=2 ObjectTexture=2 CockpitTexture=2 CockpitMirrors=1 CockpitReflection=1 EffectsDetail=2 TerrainDetail=2 TerrainTexture=2 HorizonDistance=2 GroundObjectDensity=2 WaterDetail=2 CloudsDetail=2 Shadow=2 ObjectsFade=TRUE SORRY GUYS, scratch that one, must have been a fluke, it seemed to work but now the blip is back. The HUDDATA.ini trick hasn't worked for me aswell. This ones doing my head in!

Hi Guys, I've noticed in all my titles that any aircraft using avionics60.dll. When the radar is turned on I get a stutter. Dont get it with avionics 7o.dll aircraft. This is using vanilla installs from origional SF2 upto SF2/NA all titles merged. Can anyone else confirm the problem please. My system is very high end and always maintains 60fps using vsync. Cheers

Isn't it these entries being wrong in the avionics.ini [TVDisplayData] UseRadarTexture=TRUE DisplayLimitLeft=2 <----- DisplayLimitRight=254 <------ DisplayLimitTop=2 <------ DisplayLimitBottom=254 <----- ApplyFilter=TRUE FilterMaterial=DTVFilterMaterial OverlayTexture= I had the same problem with the A-7 in SF2V so I simply removed these entries. It was a while ago, but i'm 99% sure this fixed it. -
Hi, My mate has offered me a couple of EVGA GTX 480's for an absolute bargain, but I wanted to ask if anyone here has one and if there are any driver issues with SF2. I had an Asus GTX 480 last year but it was faulty and after a mess of an rma, I changed sides and got an ati 6950. Problem is I like to use vsync with all my games and the ati drivers dont force it with some games, where as nvidia drivers do. I had also heard that the nvidia fermi drivers have had their kinks ironed out since last year. If anyone can confirm this card works ok with SF2 usinf vsync i'd appreciate before I part with my cash. Cheers

To be fair a gtx 580 is one hell of a card but with pci3-3.0 on the horizon this year I wouldnt pump my money into one. I would hang back and see what the upcoming next generation of nvidia gpu's have to offer. However if you are desperate Ati's 7 series gpu's as skatezilla has stated are serious pieces of kit and are proving to have excellent performance better than a gtx 580 and are already pcie 3.0. This is just my two cents of coarse if you really want one go ahead. Asus, Zotac, Gainward and EVGA offer excellent versions of the card as far as I am aware.

A Little Contest

Basically what Baltika said, The TE for thirdwire games is not as hard as it seems once you get your head around it. Its very tricky and riddled with bugs that you will need to learn about. If you have patience and dont expect to get it right straight away then you can learn how to use it. Approach it with trial and error and after a couple of weeks of practise you should get the hang of it. Just dont expect too much too soon, there is a knack to the TE that you can only learn from using it, take your time and learn from your mistakes. The good news is once you get the knack, then your only limited by your imagination.

Low-FPS issues
Bossco82 replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I've built a few systems for people I know who have wanted to run Strike Fighters. So far i've found based on a fully merged install including EXP2 (as this gives multi core support). Something like a quad core phenom 2 in a decent motherboard with 4gb ddr3 ram will run a lightly modified game upto resolutions of 1920x1080 @ 60fps. However I have a very heavily modified game and i've just got my system to maintain 60fps in any given situation on unlimited settings, thats using a Intel 2700k cpu overclocked to 5.2ghz in a high end P67 motherboard. I'm still suprised how much cpu usage it takes to get smooth framerates in modified installs with heavily populated terrains, -

Need Some Help...
Bossco82 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I suspect this is a problem since a patch. In SF2V, I had a random 30% crash that mostly happened when I was altering loadouts. One very strange thing was I found some conflicts in the terrain types list. A couple of the same models had different target types, ie warhouse/powerplant etc. When I was bug hunting this problem I never thought of it as it seemed unrelated. However seemed to reduce my issue with this. Still happens every now and then though. -
I have to say I agree with the others, move upto SF2 it delivers far superior framerates over SF1. On the other hand if your willing to stretch to a major upgrade then get an i5-2500k cpu, (or an i7-2600k) and midrange P67 motherboard like the Asus P67 pro or the Gigabyte P67 UD3 and overclock it to 4.6ghz. Your gpu will be fine with these. I have similar to that now and I can fly in SF2V using the expansion pack dropping an lgb over hanoi in linbacker 2 while B52's are dropping bombs nearby and maintain 60fps on high/unlimited settings. Thats pretty much the most demanding scenario in SF2 you will come across. I tried this with several cpu/mobo/gpu combinations and a P67 mobo with an unlocked i5/i7 sandybridge cpu is the best i've found.

Statics
Bossco82 replied to serg900232005's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Like wrench said you can't turn an aircraft into a ground object to use as a static. I tried what you have done when I built some FAC airfields. However you can trick the game into using normal aircraft. For instance in the airfield.ini for parking there is an entry called "maxspan=" I only wanted FAC aircraft to park at my FAC airfields. So I found the aircraft with the smallest wingspan, (refer to aircrafts data.ini its the entry referencespan=). The smallest was the A-4's for me at 8.something. So I made an airfield.ini for my FAC airfields and set parking "maxspan=7.9" then I copied my FAC aircraft and called them for example, "O-2A_Static" then I removed the cockpit folder and in the aircrafts data.ini I removed the AI controls, Engine and flight control entries. I then set the "referencespan=" to match the parking "maxspan=" in whichever airfield.ini I wanted to aircraft to appear at. If you need any further help PM me and i'll send you an example. Cheers -
SF2V expansion graphic problem
Bossco82 replied to pyro's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
As eric said that isn't the expansion vietnam terrain. You are either missing terrain tiles in either .bmp or .tga formats. Or your are using the incorrect vietnamsea_data.ini, or possibly both. Check part 2 of the vietnamsea expansion pack, and compare it to the vietnamsea terrain folder in your mod folder. Everything you need for the terrains to work is in part 2. Finally there has been a few updates to that expansion pack, check these too as the terrains were updated. If I can be of any further help just pm me. Cheers -

You can open the .tga for the canopy in something like photoshop and lighten the shade or increase its opacity.
