If the dev's ever do manage to get the Ai to the point where everyone is happy with AI performance they will either be kidnapped by the military and never heard from again,,or they will end up working for NASA... -
was looking at the pilots planet,,(pretty cool idea btw)...and noticed wf2 wasnt in NH,,,and then realised she has not posted in a really long time.....she out on tour again? at any rate,,stick her in the middle of NH,,thats close enough...

been doing lousy in campaings latly,,,so went to do some pratice,,both in qc (se5 vrs allb) and rerunning the last mission by myself.. got behind this named ace,,and shot off one lower wing ...so disengaged with him, and went off looking for another plane to shoot... While im engaged with another plane,,this moron manages to get behind me and starts shooting me,,,so i had to disengage,,turn around and finish him off.. but,,,ai should not be able to fly like this plane did with one wing missing.. -

Have to agree with van baur to some extent. It appears that improvments to dm's are coming out at a pretty fast clip, and if we try and keep up with them in mp we are going to be having the same problems over and over. And while i dont particularly like saying to ppl this is what you have to have in order to play, unfortunatly its out of our control....we all have to be the same. As far as " enough posts already", i agree with that too. Definatley gotta get rid of some redundant stickies. But these posts are not for pilots that already know what needs to be done. These are for pilots just entering mp, and pilots that have not played for a while and are getting back into a game. and have to find an easy place where pilots can find out at minimum, the latest patch, dm, and whatever to avoid mismatches. but ax was the only one that gave any answer to my original question...("half hour is too much") can we agree on a format that determines when we start scheduled games.... If we can,,the host wont have to feel bad about starting when pilots are not ready, and pilots left out will (or should) understand that this is the format, and when they get squared away, they can always join a game in progress. I think i made my position clear sunday, i would prefer to see everyone get into the game, but its only my position, and i admitt its unrealistic...the delays are just getting too long. Dont want to get this off on a tangent, but BigJim did have one valid point,,,we where getting hammered sunday by the ai...anyones thoughts on maybe toning down the skill level of the ai? This is just a question.......not a suggestion.. -
From what i understand,,its when some systems are running in the high fps that the game suffers,,,stutters,,,scenerey filling in, etc. By setting your resolution higher, it cuts down on your fps, and overall game performance increases. When i say game performance, belive what it means is how the game looks visually.

sorry,,my bad,,,should have said that even thou these are for cfs3, they apply to bhah also,, its the post at Feb 2 3:47 am,,,configuring cfs3 and here is the thread with homeboys (or rabu's to be more accurate) settings.... http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=44430 as everyones systems is different, what works for some will not work with others,,,so play around with them,,,and see what works for you.

sundays game got off to a tardy start, which considering we are trying some new things out, is in itself is not a problem. Just wanted to get everyones thoughts on finding a compromise between two equally important items,,,Getting the games up timely, and accomodating pilots who want to play. We have all shown in the past our willingness to wait for pilots who need files,,,need to reboot, etc etc, and I feel comfortable saying none of want to tell anyone we cant wait any longer, we have to start the game. And im sure pilots who run into problems feel just as bad, and would rather they do not hold up the rest of us. So, maybe we can develope a standard,,or whatever you want to call it, that determines when a scheduled game goes up. In addition to reducing delays, it will take any "personal" factor out of a decision to start without pilots... I have also added a section to the mp tuturial. It lists the currnt files that the majority of mp pilots are playing with. While probably not the best place for this info, might be a good idea to figure out a convient place where pilots wanting to join a game can verify they have the latest patch, damage model, madmats installer, and anything else needed.

sorry,,,but i was the one hosting........and as such, guess it was my responsiblity to post that fact in the forum.. maybe we shouldnt get so far away from posting this info in the forums like we used to....... People who dont have teamspeak set up yet are going to still need it if they want to join mp games... And as introducing new players to mp is alway a prority, if we dont start posting some of these casual, unannouced games, they will not know they are up. -
I was pretty lousy with rockets so i went into qc and did some practice... kept my altitude around 1200 ft ( or yards,,if that is what the hud is measured in),,,, when distance to target was around 2000ft (or yards again,,never been able to figure out what that distance a label shows to target is measured in),,,,would go into about a 45 degree dive,,pick a reference point in my field of view,,,and put the target in the center of that reference point....when the target was around 1000ft...would shoot rockets,,,and depending on where they hit,,would adjust the reference point either up or down.. Eventually, you find a reference point that at that altitude,,,and that dive,,,and that distance from target, will give pretty good results... then you try it from farther away,,,higher,,etc etc,,and jot down if the reference point has to be raised or lowered to adjust.

Boring??? going to repost some links to videos that rabu started...(and btw,,thanks rabu for bringing that video to our attention) Cant for the life of me understand how someone can watch these,,,and then make the comment this game is boring... Jim, you spent ONE day in multiplayer, (and admittedly we had some problems getting up and running)...but don't think its fair that from that one session you can bash mulitplayer in the manner like you did. I could go on,,,(after all,,im dying to see what color those "warning" boxes are when they get lit up....),,,but ill leave it at that.. -
settings for cfs3 are set by the cfs3confg.exe in your cfs3 install...settings for bhah are set by the cfs3config.exe in your obd software install....neither one has any impact on the other... seen alot of posts that have said when you change video cards you will have to redo your cfs3config settings. So if you get a message that says cfs3config is out of date,,or corrupt,,on anything like that,,,,all you have to do is rerun cfs3config,,and redo all your settings..

ok,,that seems to be everything,,,,(in missions folder) was looking at the error message you said you got... if your still gtting it,,and can post it exactly as it appears,,,,might be a help.. never run across the error message your posting..

lol..we all started somewhere... sliders (and other settings)...going to post this link,,but there is another thread in the forum that has some settings that are different,,and alot of pilots have said they like them alot...(belive its by homeboy) but the ones here will work.. //www.com-central.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=118 scroll down till you get to the cfs3config setting....remeber we are talking the cfs3config in obd,,,not in cfs3 once the game is up,,,escape brings down the hanger drop down,,,select controls, and this is where you can assign keyboard commands to your joystick. Unlike cfs3,,you cannot save the profile to something with another name,,,there is only one profile, and its called MINE..... you can change pilot settings in workshop so they never die,,,,,, and,,not sure how your getting into qc, but from off manager,,,dont selct the qc there,,,go to workshop,,and select cfsqc on that screen,,,when the next window pops up,,,dont select planes,,,just go to field,,,you should then get a quick combat medal,,and you can make all your game changes from that... also in workshop,,make sure spawn contol is set to campaign,,(the recommended one),,,that should make a new set of enemy planes appear after the last on crashes.. cant help you too much with views,,,when i started,,i mapped f4 (toggle views) and f3 (toggle cockpit) to a joystick button,,so if i was loosing sight of a plane, i could swith to an outside view really quick.....everyone uses trackir now,,,so external views are not so important,,(but i still us them) hope that helps

i think whenever you get that message,,all you have to do is rerun your cfs3config.exe, and redo all your settings,,,then it rebuilds the files it needs... -

If i remeber right,,,i got the same message last time i had to reinstall cfs3. The way i think it went, when i did the patch it asked me if i wanted to make a backup of my existing files that it was going to replace...and I said yes,,,and then i got that error message,,,(this is all from memory,,so could be wrong about how it went,,but the solution i do remeber.).. I looked in my cfs3 directory,,and found a file with a .bkp extension (backup),,(example....database.xml was changed to database.xml.bkp).....so i remove the .bkp extension, and reran the patch,,,and it updated fine. now,,cant say im completly happy with my bhah install after that. even though im completly happy with how the game plays,,its reporting frame rates that are way too low....they get down to 8fps some times.. so,,,if my problem is the same as yours....i would highly recommend removing cfs3,,,reinstalling,,and when you install the patch,,,when it ask if you want to make a backup file,,say no....and i think that will solve the error message problem,,,,, going to assume the cfs3 you installed is not already patched to 3.1 (some newer versions are i guess) hope this is all of some help -
exactly what are the folders that you have in c:\obdsoftware\cfsww1 overflanders fields\missions folder? and what are the files in the missions folder (not the historical folder, training folder etc),,,just the missions folder... just in case you screwed up your missions folder,,,i am attaching mine.....missions.rar it goes into the cfsww1 overflanders fields folder,,,,rename or copy yours to another place if you want to try it..

long as we are talking about bad graphics,,,was alwasy wondering about this one... when i enter a cloud,,i start to get this... as i get further into the cloud,,it turns into this... used to have clouds on 4 or 5,,,set them down to 2 and didnt change a thing,,, i dont have any of the cockpit fog or cockpit clouds disables,,(maybe i should.....) ati4870/3.16 dc,,plenty of ram... any ideas -

cj...sorry about all that... going to assume that other drive did not even show up in bios? If it does,,i would add it into the sytem as a slave,,,and try and recover any data you may have on it that you need (pics,,etc) Didnt test the 80gb drive thourouly,,(wouldnt know how if i wanted to....),,,but it came out of a working system...really dont think its the drive,,, how does cfs3 play? -
cant say for sure crossbones,,,,,ive got trackir,,,,and the fov was never an issue for me,,,,,gotta feeling you just increase or decrease the values in the box depending if you want your fov to get bigger,,or smaller,,,,,,,and,,you have to kinda make sure whatever change you make to verticle,,,you make the same percentage change to horizontal...or else you gonna get a slightly streched or compressed view.. that make any sense?

Cant see how any of pd's missions would have caused you to have to reinstall,,,,even if you put them in a wrong folder.... but, the missions that pd put up that are for phase 3 (BHAH) are prefixed PH-3...or something close to that.. missions are just xml files,,,and imho best place to put them is in missions\training folder,,,,then they seem to show up in all the mission drop downs... curious to know....what did you copy and paste,,,,,and what was the condition of your bhah install that was so bad it needed a reinstall?
