  1. Hi :) I like the F-4J, and decided to add the green/orange/red approach lights used by the LSO during a landing on the carrier. I guess the real device works only if you see only one light at a time (something like that) but it's just for the fun to add those lights. In fact, they're totally useless in the game! :D SystemName[XXX]=NoseLight SystemName[XXX]=ApproachGreenLight SystemName[XXX]=ApproachOrangeLight SystemName[XXX]=ApproachRedLight [NoseLight] SystemType=LIGHT Position=0.044,7.71,-1.26 LightSrcOffset=2.6046,49.0560,3.50 Color=0.66,0.66,0.6 Brightness=0.075 LightSrcRange=150 LightRange=45.0 CanFlash=FALSE IsLandingLight=TRUE [ApproachGreenLight] SystemType=LIGHT Position=-0.044,7.70,-1.20 LightSrcOffset=0.00,0.0,-1.50 Color=0.25,0.88,0.25 Brightness=0.025 LightSrcRange=0.03 CanFlash=FALSE IsLandingLight=TRUE [ApproachOrangeLight] SystemType=LIGHT Position=-0.044,7.70,-1.265 LightSrcOffset=0.00,0.0,-1.50 Color=0.88,0.66,0.25 Brightness=0.025 LightSrcRange=0.03 CanFlash=FALSE IsLandingLight=TRUE [ApproachRedLight] SystemType=LIGHT Position=-0.044,7.70,-1.33 LightSrcOffset=0.00,0.0,-1.50 Color=0.98,0.25,0.25 Brightness=0.025 LightSrcRange=0.03 CanFlash=FALSE IsLandingLight=TRUE One more thing : it won't work with all the skins, the approach lights "must" appear on the door trap. If not, use Paint ;) Enjoy Cliff
  2. Hey welcome here Rob! :D I guess that the first DID campaign is often a short one... You have the choice : an "easy" campaign to push real hard or a difficult one to try to survive. My current pilot is my best so far and I'm waiting for spare time to continue the missions. I don't want to fail with this one. Good luck!
  3. I can't believe that... I'll never forget
  4. Wszystkiego dobrego z okazji urodzin! :)
  5. :/ one mission per month... 13th mission Capt Sean Rosewood 87th FIS, Wiesbaden-Erbenheim – F-106A Delta Dart 11/13/68 Take off : 13.51 – Landing : 14.53 Target : Osnabrück, CAP 1 MiG-19, 1 IL-28 Ford 11 : Capt Sean Rosewood Ford 12 : 2Lt Kelly Wells Ford 13 : Capt Rolland Kullman Ford 14 : 1Lt Gordon Smallwood Report : Back to Osnabrück, for a patrol. We were asked to fly without the droptanks. I thought it was a bad idea. The fact is the “Six” was more agile and we climbed fast at level 15. Passing the IP, I saw two spots on my scope which seemed to be the target we needed. We went down and closed to the Bogeys. They were Il-28s and I fired my SuperFalcon as soon as I was in range. The AIM-26B went right to the target and the Beagle blown out. I launched my AIM-4Fs but didn’t managed to get a correct lock. Both went to the ground. Then it was harder to get the bomber 6, to lock-on it and to avoid to fire at my wingman who was chasing too. Both my AIM-4Gs went wide. The Il-28 was flying steady, my number 2 in its 6 and number 3 and 4 following. We went till Hannover like that, without a single launch! To prevent fuel issue, I decided that was enough and called the others to form up, RTB. As usual, the landing pattern was awful and my number 2 had to do his approach several times. I was mad! The debriefing revealed that we followed two Il-28s for at least five minutes and neither number 2 and 4 launched a single missile… I don’t think these two guys will appear on the mission roster very often… In fact, Billy Pickett is back amongst us and in a pretty good shape. Capt Kullman downed a MiG-19.
  6. Impossible to make the A1 version with the current He177 Lod because there's a big hole in the fuselage when I remove the back turret. A3, A5 and A6 in progress... Anyone to make the A6 rear turret LOD? (Anyway it works ok without) Or the Hs293?
  7. It's a "long road" but I found out new things. The "safe" version I'm doing will allow 99% throttle (the original one will stay the safest of course!). I'll try to make a "dangerous" version, the A-1, 95% throttle is too much and I think that will need some extensive tests. Here's a screen shot :) _
  8. I'm editing the files to make the A-3 and A-1 variant. It seems that the original one is a A-5. I'd like to ask few things : Is it possible to have 2 differents "Gunner_Station" aiming in the same direction at the same time? (just by file editing) The point is to have the observer turret and the front turret kind of "linked". To make the A-1, I tried to have the engines over heating but it doesn't work. ( that's stupid...) What figures to use to fill the following lines? GasTempMaxRPM= GasTempIdleRPM= GasTempChangeRate= OverheatTemp= DamageTempDelta= @Torno : do you allow me to rework your skins to create new ones? If you like the moving parts : [LeftElevator] SystemType=CONTROL_SURFACE InputName=PITCH_CONTROL MaxDeflection= 18.0 MinDeflection=-18.0 CLiftdc=0.1498 CDdc= 0.0089 Cmdc=-0.3179 ControlRate=2.5 MaxControlSpeed=180 ModelNodeName=Elevator_L <-----------here ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE [RightElevator] SystemType=CONTROL_SURFACE InputName=PITCH_CONTROL MaxDeflection= 18.0 MinDeflection=-18.0 CLiftdc=0.1498 CDdc= 0.0089 Cmdc=-0.3179 ControlRate=2.5 MaxControlSpeed=180 ModelNodeName=Elevator_R <-----------here ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE thx :)
  9. Very cool plane!!! ...but it needs its floats, in which there are the fuel tanks and radiators for oil cooling. About the propellers in cockpit view, the cockpit is too high (imho) set : Position=0.0,-0.500,0.500 in the cockpit file, and you'll see the propellers Have some fun but don't run out of fuel ;)
  10. Hi Please UNLOCK SHIFT KEY, we wear our glasses and we had the message... Open the skin folder (FAU or FAU_2) and open the "decals" files : Rename "Decal013" and "Decal014" by "DecalXXX". Rename "Decal015" --> "Decal020" by "Decal013" --> "Decal018" The little number decals will not show anymore, but if there more than 6 decals on the same mesh, the mesh won't show the way it should (if I'm right...) Hope it'll work!
  11. I have to finish that :) 12th mission Capt Sean Rosewood 87th FIS, Wiesbaden-Erbenheim – F-106A Delta Dart 11/12/68 Take off : 13.06 – Landing : 13.50 Target : Osnabrück, Sweep 1 MiG-19, 2 IL-28 Ford 11 : Capt Sean Rosewood Ford 12 : 2Lt Norman Howerton Ford 13 : Capt Rolland Kullman Ford 14 : 1Lt Edward Thomas Report : I was nervous for this one. I don’t know why, maybe a bad feeling or something. Sweep over Osnabrück, we must protect the area from enemy strikes. The flight was rather short and we were right on time. The problem was I didn’t know which spot on the scope was the most important target to deal with. I chose the furthest and a tactical controller radioed me to engage the closest. As a matter of fact we were in range to launch the weaponry! I launched my SuperFalcon and made a 180 turn to shot the bandit from the rear. I thought that my wingmen didn’t have the time to place themselves in his 6 and there was no probability for a friendly fire, so I fired an AIM-4G and the bandit exploded. It was an IL-28 and I saw one of the crew who did eject successfully floating under his chute. I made another wide 180 turn to go back to the fight and I locked on another bandit. We were coming head to head so I didn’t try to launch a missile and after another turn I was behind the other IL-28. He was low and was trying to escape. My second AIM-4G went to the ground, but the last AIM-4F did the job. I called for my wingmen to rejoin, one of them had increased his score. Back to Wiesbaden, there were 8 F-100s in there landing pattern, so we had to be a little patient. Norman overtook me and landed first and I touched the ground a bit too close to the edge of the runway on the right side to avoid a mishap with Kullman. I can’t believe it! I didn’t reported the incident because my own approach was terrible but there were loud words during the debrief. Maybe some of us need some days off. Anyway, Capt Kullman took out a MiG-19 and with my two IL-28s, I had a citation for the DFC.
  12. At last, back in the cockpit! 11th mission 1Lt Sean Rosewood 87th FIS, Wiesbaden-Erbenheim – F-106A Delta Dart 11/11/68 Take off : 12.06 – Landing : 13.17 Target : Milowice, Escort Ford flight (4 F-4D) 1 MiG-17 Lion 11 : 1Lt Sean Rosewood Lion 12 : 2Lt Billy Pickett Lion 13 : Capt Rolland Kullman Lion 14 : 1Lt Edward Thomas Report : Today is the memorial day of the end of WWI, 50 years. We’re going over Czechoslovakia, escorting a F-4 flight. We took off and I decided to fly slower and lower than the flight plan, to save fuel and to protect from SAM launches. Of course we were late but Ford flight never reached their target ; they just RTBed before they attacked. We didn’t know that and while over Praha we engaged a MiG-17 which was marauding near a pair of SEAD F-4. I fired an AIM-4F but the missile didn’t climb enough to hit the MIG. I started a dogfight with that MiG-17 (how silly!) and asked Billy to help me. I stalled several times but I refused to give up. I was thinking how bad was the situation when the MiG reached my six o’clock and fired at me. I decided to break up but I stalled once again and after recovering I called to form up and leave the area. The MiG was still there but I was behind him. I launched an AIM-4G and the MiG turned to avoid it. I launched a second AIM-4F that shot him down. Lion 13 and 14 were engaging another MiG, but they stopped their fight and each opponent turned back. Where is Billy? Capt Kullman and Ed Thomas didn’t saw anything. On the way back, we met another MiG but we stayed each on his side, for I didn’t want to run out of fuel. We landed and it was obvious that 2Lt Billy Pickett had been shot down over Praha. Later in the evening, we had good news : Billy had been rescued, wounded but still with us! I got promoted to Captain grade, I was 1Lt for only 5 days. I didn’t even change my rank in my previous reports…
  13. Hi, Please, disregard my previous post and somebody delete it because about the landing wheel, it's all bullsh*t... I'm sorry, the real fix is to change the "WheelNodeName001=" entry of the "Right main gear2". [RightMainGear2] SystemType=LANDING_GEAR Retractable=TRUE DeployTime=6.0 DragArea=1.200 AnimationID=1 HideGearNode=TRUE ModelNodeName=Gear_R2 InsideNodeName= ShockNodeName=RightGearDumper ShockTravelAxis=Z-AXIS ShockStroke=0.2 SpringFactor=1.0 DampingFactor=1.0 WheelNodeName001=RTire_R2 <-- change to : WheelNodeName001=Tire_R2 RotationAxis=x-Axis RollingRadius=0.75 CastoringWheel=FALSE HasBrakes=TRUE BrakingCoefficient=0.75 RollingCoefficient=0.05 MaxDeploySpeed=115.75 The "Right main gear1" is ok. Sorry if you have modified your data.ini after my first post, sometimes it's better when no-one listen to you :) Btw, I've done editing with that model, and the 3D model being a real piece of art, I wonder if anyone wants to try my version... (?) (Fuel cells, engines, turrets, lights...) Very fun with the FX 1400 guided bomb! Is the Hs 293A available somwhere?
  14. This is the 10th mission of my current pilot, my best till then. 10th mission 2Lt Sean Rosewood 87th FIS, Wiesbaden-Erbenheim – F-106A Delta Dart 11/10/68 Take off : 11.06 – Landing : 13.05 Target : Parchim, CAP 1 MiG-19 Hammer 11 : 2Lt Sean Rosewood Hammer 12 : 2Lt Gerald Day Hammer 13 : Capt Rolland Kullman Hammer 14 : 2Lt Jerry Watson Report : We performed a combat air patrol over Parchim. As promised, Jerry Watson was on duty for this mission, my number 2 was Gerald and Capt Kullman was number 3, a very good team! I decided to fly lower than the flight plan required to avoid difficult situation if we were targeted by SAMs. We needed the protection of the ground, so 5000ft was high enough. Reaching way point 4, tactical control called to warn us about bandit on our 11. We headed for an interception course and I locked on them. Exactly when we had the “engage” call, I launched my AIM-26B at one of them and took him out. We were closing to the remaining bandit when I realize he was on a landing pattern, it was a MiG-19. He was slow and low and I overtook him twice without being able to have a good lock launching my AIM-4Gs without success. Gerald got a lock and launched his SuperFalcon, but the missile missed the MiG and hit the runway. The MiG has landed and the triple A was becoming dense, so I called for my wingies and we turned back home. During the debriefing, I was disappointed when Kullman and Jerry told me they didn’t have a single opportunity to shoot at that lucky MiG-19.
  15. Sorry for your pilot Lt. It seems that the IL-28 gunners had at least 2 DiD pilots on their hunting table.
  16. Canberra? Yes, available at Combatace : http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=9423 It's designed for SF2 but it works well on my 1st gen install. And it's cool!
  17. ...then call it what you will.
  18. I like the idea, it would be cool! I've spend many bombing mission switching between pilot and bomber seats in a Canberra. Imho, the twin cockpit of the Mirage 2000D is really great and make the flying more fun, same for the P-2H Neptune. The T-38 cockpit is great too, and you have to choose, front or rear, like in real life. I think it would be awesome to have more 2 seater planes with such cockpit, but I know it's a huge work to achieve.
  19. Slartibartfast, I think about a F-111 myself but there will not be A2A mission. If you run ODS, what about a F-14 or a FA-18, I mean the US Navy! Lt., funny idea about David Depaul. I was thinking about the son of Pete Raczesky :)
  20. (: Why not? ...as long as you don't call it "vichy" french :l And there's also the Jaguar and the Super Etendard to add.
  21. I had the Mk-4 Mod 0 downloading the WoV expansion pack by eburger, running a 1st gen install. The OV-10 is getting improved these days, thanks all! Cliff
  22. 9th mission 2Lt Sean Rosewood 87th FIS, Wiesbaden-Erbenheim – F-106A Delta Dart 11/08/68 Take off : 13.23 – Landing : 14.34 Target : Wittstock, Sweep 1 MiG-17, 1 An-12 Buick 11 : 2Lt Sean Rosewood Buick 12 : Capt Clifton Massen Report : What a mission! This time, just a couple of fighters to perform a sweep over Wittstock. It was a long range flight over the enemy lines, and I don’t feel comfortable with that, so just a 2 planes flight is all right for me. 2Lt Watson was to be my wingman, but I told him that I will take Capt Massen with me and Jerry said “Ok, but the next time I come with you”. I’d like Capt Clifton Massen would shot down his 5th bandit, so he would made ace and maybe stop taking too much risks, involving his wingman through free hunting while I ask them to join up formation… The weather was sunny today and it would be a very important thing for what to be next. Take off and entering the sweep area, we were told to RTB. What to do? I said to Capt Massen “there’s spots ahead, we go for one and only pass and we bugger off, okay?” Sure… I locked on the bandit right ahead of me, thinking that Massen would launch his missiles before me, and it would be perfect. But Massen called “SAM launched!”. Ok, I see the SAM and it’s not coming toward us, no big deal… “F…, it’s turning, it’s locked on us”. “Two break! Break!” and I went to a tight turn, blinding me and almost stalling the plane. I recovered my Six diving to the ground and decided to give up the hunt. But Massen didn’t want to runaway like that and stayed near Wittstock to search for a target. I thought he was right and asked to Tactical Control for a target on the way back home. And there was one. “Buick lead, Control, there might be a transport, to the east”. Okay, I made a 120° turn and set a course to intercept this interesting target, keeping in mind that Massen should take it out. The plane was easy to see, it was drawing a black smoke trail, it was already damaged. The problem was that Massen was too far to shoot at him so I decided to do that myself, because I realized that there were fighters on their landing approach. (Damaged cargo and landing fighters, I felt like shooting at eggs in the nest.) Launching a missile to shoot down the slow cargo wasn’t that easy and I overtook him twice, it was an Antonov-12 Cub, and the second time I noticed that the tail gunner was shooting at me, “no good Sean, be wise!” I noticed too that a MiG-17 was closing to me and asked Massen to shoot him down. “No joy” he answered me. WTF!!! I finally hit the Antonov with my two last missiles and Massen engaged a MiG, at last! As I was staring at others SAM launches, I heard Massen “I got him! I got him!” What a relief… We went southbound, flying low to avoid SAMs and landed safely. It was my first encounter with SAMs and I must say that it scared the s… out of me! Capt Clifton Massen made ace and I feel proud to serve with such fighter pilots. _
