Two-Seater Tuesdays
Flanker562 replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
This is a topic without comments man. It's great to reminisce and such, but keep it to screenshots only. -
Took a quick unarmed flight around a free flight mission, and found it more maneuverable than the stock TW birds. you can actually maneuver around and it feels natural. It looks good too in the cockpit, didn't pick up that much of an issue, and the framerates were good (I mean it was just me flying around too).

Okay what you do is go to the upper right of the Mission Editor screen, and click on the ship icon. If you have SF2:NA or the complete, you should find the NImitz Aircraft Carrier. That's a takeoffable and landable aircraft carrier that the game comes stock with. After you select that place it in the water using the crosshair in the middle of the map (that's where you place objects with). Once you do that, open the menu for your aircraft, and select the carrier name, and you'll be able to take of and land on that carrier. As for the Range: -

You can try putting a carrier in the lake, but that's the only real water area there is. And it's not that big relative for a carrier to move in (it might end up on the land areas), at least I don't think so. Best thing to do is create a free flight mission (Air Defense Suppression mission but no enemy and no AAA/SAMs), but you have to have the Mission Editor DLC or the SF2 Complete to do that. -

You should download The Range map so you can practice strike missions at least. I don't remember if you can do SEAD (I doubt it) , but it's an enemy free map where you can practice to your heart's content. -
You might want to post a link to your channel as a word search didn't turn up anything. Anyway okay, got it.

You don't have to use Print Screen for your screenshots, you can assign a valid key to make it work. Like I used to have my Right ALT key as the screenshot button, and worked as supposed to. Maybe your print screen button is going out.

Okay I see. Well No. 3 is working, I'm able to load on a carrier and fly, just having graphics issues with the planes so far, and object textures. Sometimes they show up, sometimes they don't for now, and figure that's a graphics card issue, because I can't select my AMD chip. Anyway I'll see with each addition you make, so things out to settle down once more iterations are available. EDIT: I managed to switch it to the AMD chip, and it has no problems showing the textures and the like, but I'm unable to record a session to show off the terrain, but I'll find something.

Okay there's something up with the carriers and water as I started from a land base, and it worked fine more or less (Loaded fine, though it seemed to hang), but I didn't fly the mission because I wanted to see if I could load into the mission. So I can if I start from a land base. One thing I noted that the game for this terrain automatically places a CBG on the map, so you can take off from it. There's something going on with the water or something, because NAVALMAP=FALSE for my install. I mean I could have flown the mission starting from the base, but you havc to select a plane that automatically starts on a normal airbase, and not a carrier based plane.
