  1. Great shots! I do like the ruins very much. If you want to add much realism to the map, you can add such ruins a few kilometers east of Khoms (Leptis Magna site), on the coast of Zuwarah (Sabrata site) and Cyrene (near Sahhat irl, but regarding our map, as Sahhat is obviously too small to be on it, let's say it is somewhere between Al Bayda and Susah. There are a lot more in Libya, especially in the eastern part of the country, but these 3 sites are "Unesco world heritage site", and, off topic speaking, they are really worth the trip.
  2. Actually, British jaguar had that pylons built in. I have a book on "modern air combat" which dates back to 1980, and british jaguar clearly had it.
  3. Great and glorious men, from great and glorious countries.
  4. Flight Simulator 4 had it. Yeah, the combat sim was not very good, that's why I did not counted it as a first combat sim experience.
  5. Yeah, I'm quite used to Libyan politics, as I worked there during a year in diplomacy. I remember that the N°2 of the embassy had in her office a big map of Libya as claimed by Libya, dating back to the 80's: well, those claimed borders were heavily crossing the neighbours borders. As for good old Muhammar seeking troubles in Tunisia with some revolutionnaries, I'm not that surprised. I did not remember of that, but he was quite fond of that sort of things.
  6. Flight simulator 4. I have memories of my father playing with the 3, but at that time he did not let me touch the comp'. :) My first air victory on a sim was in Red Baron, I got a dynamix pack with A10 tank killer, Red Baron, Aces of the pacific and Aces over Europe. Played it until very recently! I got then a few titles, the more I played were Red Baron II and Fighters Anthology. I then quit the sims for a few years, until I found SFP1 and fell in love with a so open game!
  7. No, they did not. They tried to get northern Tchad during the early 80'zs, that's not the same.
  8. Yeah. BTW, would be great if OTC was to be updated to post WOI standart.
  9. According to wiki, there has been a few syrian aces. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_flyin...ab-Israeli_wars ?? 6 Middle East Egypt Ali Wajai? 5 Middle East Egypt ?? 5 Middle East Egypt ?? 5 Middle East Egypt ?? 5 Middle East Egypt Majid Zugbi 6 Middle East Syria Jur Abid Adib 5 Middle East Syria Majdat Halabi 5 Middle East Syria According to this site http://www.csd.uwo.ca/Elevon/aces.html
  10. Yes, Polack tiles are definitely way too green to represent libya. The few times I flew above it, it was not that green, even in the more green area of the eastern libya. I have the impression that stock tiles are more realistic. It's the same for polack's sand that I find way too white. Tripoli lies quite in the center of the image, under the smog.
  11. Ghadamis should be slightly western. It's just across tunisian border, almost on the point where tunisian, algerian and Great Jamahiriya borders are colliding in a sort of big Y. BTW, where I'd go there, I saw the strip from a point on the road (well, with discretion, those libyan security guys are somewhat easy-trigger and paranoid) and it seems that the airport si no more used, apart for a two-three helicopters that were under blankets. They were Hind. Al azizya should be right into Tripoli. It's an important spot since Gaddafi's is supposed to live there (actually, no one knows where he actually lives, he's constantly on the move), but not a town per se. It's just a district of Tripoli. Tripoli internation airport is way too far from Tripoli, too close to Garyan (wich shall be set slightly western too). In car, from downtown to Tripoli Airport, you take something like 20-30 minutes (depends on traffic). No more than 40 km from the city. As for ex-wheelus, it's integrated to the city too. The only separation between the airbase and the sea is an highway. Both intl airport and Wheelus seems to assume military duties, but intl airport now seems to only holds transport planes. Regarding Benina, well, an eye who knows what to find will see some SAM sites from his plane window during approach dans landing. ;)that is sort of clues that it's not only civilian nowadays;) In my memories, it is slightly north-estern from Benghazi. These are only sort of first impressions from my memories there, but I might be wrong!
  12. I love the "fighter anthology" like menu!
  13. Looking very interesting!
  14. What has been broken by that patch?
  15. As for the national markings, what i've often imaginated was this roundel, but with inverted colours (red instead of blue, blue instead of red) ad some CSA St Andrew cross on the tail (in a similar fashion as the one spanish planes are bearing, but with CSA ish colours).
  16. Ziker gave the best advices you can get: fly low! But there, beware of the AAA... In the 1982 campaign, ECM pods and chaff/flares do help a lot to increase survability, but in 1973, it's the only solution.
  17. Yeah, I know about industrialisation. BTW, one can assume that given their survival, the CSA would have stressed on industrialization, and while being unable to reach the level of the Union, may have reduced the gap. As I'm actually more interested in a jet era campaign than in WW2, I would see either French or British design amon CSAF. Confederates mirages, mysteres or Lightning (huh... given the size of the theatre and their short legs...) But hell, a Confederate F4 would be handsome!
  18. What do their CSA insignia looks like? I guessed that the greatest issue would be the lack of any suitable terrain... As for scenario, given the fact that making a campaign with the CSA is an uchrony, we are quite free. I've thought of a timeline (sort of) and tried to find a cause for war in the 50's -60's - 70's or early 80's (our favorite sim time frame, in other words). I found ideas centered about some cuban issues, but other way can be explorated too. As for the aircraft, I do not know quite well american aircraft builders, especially their history, but maybe were historically some compagnies born in the South, and other in the North? Let's say for instance that historicaly Mc Donnel Douglas was founded in Alabama, then CSA shall get F-4. If it is not the case, one can also use arbitrary choices ;) And don't forget that in most uchrony, CSA, France and UK seems to share close bonds, then the option of giving CSA french and british equipement might be considered too. Except from story line and some ideas, I can't do any "hard core" modding (map, skins etc) so if someone is interested, feel free! Actually, I had this idea washing my dishes and thought "hey, I have to post it on combatace to see if someone can be interested". :)
  19. Hi guys. While being belgian and french, I'm profoundly fond of US Civil War. I know that there are some North American terrains here and there. Do they cover Dixie and the neighbouring northern states? What would you think of a what if campaign whose thema could be a conflict in the Wings over X time frame between CSA that had survived and the USA? As I have absolutely no modding abilities, that's only a suggestion... But I'd rather love flying CSA F-16 against some yankees planes, or the contrary...
  20. Use carefully throttle of the F-105 and do not let AI fly it. F-105 tends to sucks heavily the fuel as soon as you get above 35-40% throttle.
  21. Are you sure of this? I have much memories of fuel tanks or hangars destroyed in missions, and appearing destroyed during next missions. It may be true for the runway, but I'm not that sure for other targets.
  22. No, you can't! That file is for OTC 1.0. For OTC 2.0, it won't work.
  23. Happy B-bday, gentleman!
