    F-4N on CVN-66

    From the album: MBs Album

  2. Had seen the story previously - I think the same text even. Suspect some were over there at the time - but you could question what parts of the TG training they helped with
  3. I've got the Paul Brickhill book - was surprised when reading it that the raid was only about the first 3rd of the book

  5. Maybe? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22542663
  6. Yes I do see it - far more noticeable on the ground - not a card issue - more to do with how those objects are rendered. The TGA it uses looks correct - well to me
  7. First Ever British Pilot To Attend Prestigious Naval 'Top Gun' School
  8. http://combatace.com...ay-indications/ http://combatace.com...sf2-for-sf2-kb/ Worth searching for old topics I would say as well TEWS from Thirdwire: The ALR-69 RWR display can identify radar type and display different symbols. The symbols you're likely to encounter in the game are: 2 = SA-2 6 = SA-6 8 = SA-8 Z = ZSU-23-4 AAA 21 = MIG-21 23 = MIG-23 15 = F-15 F4 = F-4 F0 = F-104/F-105 M3 = Mirage III U = Unknown S = Search radar V = M163 Vulcan AAA (hopefully these are pretty self-explanatory) Radars guiding missiles have flashing circle around them. Priority threat (the tracking radar with highest signal) will have a diamond displayed around it. Keep in mind that this can only identify radar type, and not the exact aircraft type. For example, MIG-23MS, which is an export model with MIG-21 radar, will show up as "21", not "23". Most add-on planes will not be identified (show up as "U") unless additional data is added - --- Also, even aircraft with older RWR "vector" display has slightly new feature. On aircraft with up front RHAW control panel, it'll light up different SAM button (LO/MID/HI band light) depending on radar frequency, so you can roughly determine the type of SAM radar tracking you. Eary and late SA-2 (SA-2 B and SA-2 F) will indicate LO freqnecy band light Mid-year SA-2 (SA-2 C and SA-2 E) will indicate MID freqnecy band light SA-6 will light MID freqnecy band light while its searching/tracking, but moves to HI frequency band when guiding missile. But this missile guidance may not be detectable on some RWR (its using CW type radar for guidance). SA-8 will light HI freqnecy band light
  9. Generally - how its moddeled in some sims is the RWR sometimes picks up the missile when it goes active............................. I don't know if you need to add frequencies to the AIM-54 itself to get this effect - or whether that even works without testing it
  10. Might be intentional - sounds like its been implemented like an active missile - which the AIM-54 kind of is - (like the AIM-120) The AI may detect all missiles based on programmed behavior as opposed to whats detectable on a RWR
  11. Amazing video - next up DCS:F-8D.....eta 2025 Looked like an A-1 getting hit at the end - I was expecting to see the Giant Claw appear for some reason
  12. You must be unlocking all the MiGs and Vampires etc now
  13. So it is just the F-22 and MiG-29 for now Level 76! - blimey - hope you have a lot of time on your hands
  14. Yep - this came from another aviation forum regarding the 5th Jan 99 engagement (Other was 9th Sept) From someone who was in during that time and is still in navy aviation... VF-213 was intent on getting AIM-54 kills if a situation presented itself on that cruise. They practiced AIM-54 shots up to taking Southern Watch. The only problem was, a new AO (ordnanceman) had checked onboard recently with no Tomcat experience. (I don't have any either BTW, navy sent me elsewhere). He loaded the arming shoe? for all 4 AIM-54s on that flight backwards, so that when they were fired, the rocket arming pins sheered instead of being pulled. Each F-14 fired one, but once they dropped like Mk-54s vice firing off like AIM-54s, they cancelled the intercept. The Mig-25s were in the heart of the AIM-54 envelope and most definitely would have resulted in 2 high speed kills.
  15. To clarify - this applies to one of the F-14Ds in OSW (1999) - the ordy put the arming shoe or whatever on backwards it has been said Unfortunately - the above is not proof that the ECCM was not downgraded - because these is no evidence to suggest the ECM pods etc in use by the Iraqis were functioning or could use the correct modes, frequencies to jam the missile properly etc - basically even downgraded AIM-54s could still have been good enough for the job. Iranian F-14As never got the IRST because they wanted to wait for the TCS - but they never received it because of the revolution etc
  16. Does that not work anymore? SpecificStationCode=AIM4 Would assume you get the F-14 dll avionics and models - so yes a big part of SF2NA
  17. MigBuster

    Outerra

I would say - unlikely without a bit of coding by TK But hey we got a new terrain with SF2NA and that was just as good.....
  18. Is the photo to scale? What nationality is that F-5E - I seem to be seeing long noses in most photos

    Outerra

Maybe the next DLC for SF2 no.... http://www.outerra.com/wgallery.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJgPOQOx0J8&feature=player_embedded
  20. Hmmm - even if they dont their conventional stuff would do immense damage to Seoul and the civi populous etc - probably the reason we stick up with them.
  21. RIP - lucky there weren't more casualties
  22. ha ha ha - sounds like its a pretty real simulator - got to give em credit for that - I never thought flying them was easy. Now in choppers dont you have a collective and a cyclic or something..................
  23. Ark Royal (91) was a unique ship - nothing like the post war one - the best model to use is the old Eagle Straight deck model from the carrier pack which has model men on the deck - I probably wont get round to doing the korean war and WW2 era for a while yet.
