  1. If its not in Program files or x86 then thats pretty weird behaviour - have not seen that before - can you make a copy of the whole folder , stick it on the desktop and run it from there and see if there is any change? Have you set it to run as admin in its shortcut? might be worth changing the compat mode too.
  2. It doesnt look like it Im afraid - besides you actually need to use the mouse to click on the buttons in the 2D cockpit. For a flight simulator like this you should be using a joystick only, using the keys are a poor secondary - and I cant see how controlling it with a mouse would be any use at all. When you move a joystick - for example to pitch up (pull back) you dont just move it from one position to another - it has many positions in between that determine how much or how little the flight surface moves.
  3. in the decal.ini check decal level - needs to be 2 i think also - slashes in path should be \
  4. If thats true - it makes no sense to me - like a lot of things in this conflict. Why would Pakistan fight them with the Army but help them via other ways? - this doesnt help them in any way!
  5. If its any use - this is from former senior F-16 Test Pilot Joe Bill Dryden: This negative static margin provides one reason the F-16 turns as well as it does. What you may recall from Aero 101 no longer applies when you try to evaluate the F-16. I’ve seen articles in Air Progress that show how the F-15 will turn so much better than the F-16 because the F-15’s wing loading is lower. But this is where people get in trouble, because you can no longer apply wing loading to come up with a prediction as to how the airplane will turn. Let me explain this. Since the F-16 is negatively stable, the tail is lifting in order to control the AOA (while you’re subsonic). And while the center of pressure shift is such that the F-16 6 is positively stable when you’re supersonic, the amount of down force necessary to keep the aircraft trimmed to a given AOA is less than conventional fighters. As a result, the total lift acting on the airplane is more for a given AOA; therefore, the resultant induced or trim drag is reduced. Less drag of any kind means better sustained turn and cruise performance. Also, the F-16 has been designed to take advantage of the vortex lift generated by the strakes. This vortex is what you see trailing back on both sides of the F-16 when you turn it hard in moist conditions. They are not there just for more oooohhs and aaaahhs at air shows. As a result of this vortex lift, there are areas in the flight envelope where as much as thirty percent of total lift is coming off the fuselage. If you fall into the same trap that Air Progress did and take the gross weight of the aircraft divided by the projected wing area, you’ll come up with a wing loading of about sixty-five pounds per square foot. But (and this is a very big but), when you add in all the contributions of both tail and fuselage lift, you’ll come up with a wing loading of about forty pounds per square foot. Now you’re talking late World War II wing loadings. Can you now understand why you keep hearing, "I never thought you’d be able to make that corner!" Heard that in some of your debriefings? Ah haaaa! Then maybe there is some method in their madness. So it’s really a combination of these two things that gives the F-16 the different characteristics we have to account for when beginning to fly this multirole fighter. The negatively stable aero and the rate command flight control system both go to make up a fighter that’ll perform like no other!
  6. pah You got the luck - thanks to Robert flippin Green!
  7. It was close - the US did well and held in there - and got some help from our keeper too
  8. Good luck tommorow - youre gonna need it
  9. Thats a great video - had no idea there were so many left flying
  10. Basically keep your speed up in the battle - drop the speed for long (in SF2/E/I) and you will be hit - there are probably good tips on older threads - worth searching
  11. What patch is your WOE? Oct 2008 When was the Widesky mod put up there? - if it puts in older ini files that might be the cause of the problem at a guess. Assume it only happened after putting widesky on?
  12. Yeah with gen 1 games you need to upgrade to Oct 2008 - or change a few shaders if sticking with old versions on Vista/7 - as per the KB
  13. A lot of AI pilot will get into a slow turning fight regardless of jet :)
  14. Good luck - hope its goes well
  15. What year are you flying in? - is this single missions?
  16. some have probably just given jets lots more thrust in the data ini. To do it without that you need to zoom climb - fly straight as fast as you can go before climbing - you may need to do this several times - the need for a pressure suit is not programmed into the sim.
  17. Probably viewlist.ini - this is the file to edit if you use a trackIR also.
  18. No - my advice is leave dlls well alone. aircraftobject.ini is in the object.cat
  19. Without AWACs you are pretty much blind without some hard work on the radar - even a MiG-21 can sneak up on you if you dont use labels. Sometimes AWACs dont get scheduled - this is where you need to take your first step at managing the campaign and making sure an awacs (E-3 or E-2) is not only airborne - but in range. What to do is in the AF manual - its right clicking on the map basically - and yes you can set up your own packages, fly to your own targets, set up other packages of jets, move ground units - but dont worry too much about that - you can still win by just flying and winning. For example - if you think not enough CAPs are being put up you can set up available Jets to fly them. For Janhas - you need to go to the AF section - most skins on there are for Open Falcon I think. Installing them requires a LOD editor. If you go this route I did include the editor with the F/A-18F skin in the AF download section on this site. The Gamers tools - you need to create an account it sounds like - then you get a link to download all those skins you see on there - with those skins you will need to download and install the skinpack installer - easier than the LOD editor - but depends on your computing knowledge really. The aeyes pits and hitiles are just simple double click .exe installers
  20. The mod folders are here C:\Users\<yourName>\Saved Games\ThirdWire\FirstEagles2 You need to create any folders not there Read section 1 here - its the same thing for SF2 http://combatace.com/topic/44026-converting-older-planes-to-work-in-sf2-a-basic-guide-by-migbuster/
  21. 1. Have you run through the training missions? they are the most important things - you need to learn to use the radar and its modes, and how to move the antenna up and down so you get get bandits above or below your radar sweep. Have only played with everything set to realistic - so would advise you to switch to realistic avionics to stop you wasting time with the easy stuff. WHen you see a blip on the radar - put the cursor over it and get AWACs to "declare" it - make sure it IDs the target as hostile before firing. Your radar in STT mode will ID a target when you have it locked (NCTR) - this may work at a certain range - but I hardly use it IFF is not simulated in AF for whatever reason - I understand in RL you would need an IFF Electronic ID, and an AWACs declare before shooting Some ways round this - 2. Lock the target up - if you hear "Buddy Spike" on the radio you have locked up a friendly. - 2. ask your wingy to attack a target - it will refuse if its friendly. 2. Hi Tiles is a must for AF http://www.hitiles.com/screenshots.htm There are widescreen pits for the various versions at Aeyes site http://www.cockpits.nl/ There are skins you can change - some at thegamerstools.com others at www.JanHas.net - Free Falcon and Open Falcon are two free large mods created by Falcon enthusiasts - they have never been that stable compared to AF but provide better graphics and more detailed avionics. The Free Falcons were large add ons for the Original Falcon 4.0 - I think however FF5.5 is now a standalone install for what I have read. Dont think it works on Win 7 though. Any way dont confuse your self with that go with one game install for now - because if you start another you need to re learn certain things.
  22. Hahaha - nice story! Worrying that the teachers fell for it though
