  1. If they are working on it its a part time project for the team from what you can gather from recent posts - so I wont be expecting much anytime soon. But yes agree that the next sim would have to reuse a lot of the code (which I think was C++ from old posts years back) so hopefully it should be possible to put changes to this together with a new/reworked graphics engine - and voila! I would have a wish list of 1 new terrain to be added, another flyable to go with the F-16s (F-18E/Fs maybe), with clickable single 3D pits, and the new range of weapons, works on multicore, Win 7, DX9/10
  2. The pilots have a skill level that goes up over time if they survive missions - you will see this on a campaign roster and the skill level does seem to make a difference I have found. This must be true of the enemy because some are pants - some are better - and some are aces. If you are playing single missions the pilot skill is probably random - even though you have settings stuck on hard - You may just be coming up against better trained AI pilots - they follow you up in the vertical and generally do annoying things like trail you back to base. Whether TK has got the AI learning based on what the Human pilot does - well only he would know. Certainly the AI started getting a lot better when First Eagles came about - and has improved a lot since then.Of course any AI tactical improvements would only be relevant to the series time period.
  3. What version of the game were the flight models done for? . A lot has been changed over the years by TK regarding flight dynamics in the game so it could be likely that they handle nothing like they did when they were first created if you are using a recent version. Other data has also been added to the data.ini file over the years too. As for the cobra - im not sure that was a unique Su-27 thing and Ive only seen the seen the latest OVT MiG-29/35 perform a version on video - although Ive read that certain US jets like the F-14 could perform it anyway - but cant back that up at the mo.
  4. What system specs are you running - you need to install patch 2008 if your PC can handle it - you can run it in vista straight away then without changing inis etc.
  5. What that means is it used to be a lot easier - and also I havn't touched SF2V for a while - the MiG training seems to be generally lower in that so you might be right.
  6. There was C3PO and ED_1 who used to go on the boards - C3PO defo has nothing to do with them - But ED_1 still posts now and then and tells us the next verion is stilll being worked on. Then this pops up http://www.graphsim.com/ F4:AF for MacOSX 19th Mar 2010 (although bottom of page says 2005!)- its just AF ported over over apparently so nothing new - but maybe a fundraiser perhaps?
  7. Think its part of the Suez add on for WOI and SF2I
  8. I always thought it was designed as a low level nuclear bomber from the get go - and often wondered how it even got the F designation. It killed about 27.5 Migs over vietnam with AIM-9Bs (a lot missed) but mostly its M61A1 Gun - according to Ospreys books. Quite a tally - something you cant create too well in this sim now the AI always sees you and breaks. Its fast speed was of huge benefit like other US jets and could be employed successfully if used the right way (as they obviously managed to) Still - nearly 400 were apparentley still lost over Vietnam despite this.
  9. Quite like the late 50s to late 70s jets - good mix of guns with rubbish missiles - makes things challenging - especially now the AI is at a much better level. As said above thats the strongest period for this series IMO
  10. Someone who likes torture?? - Win 7 64 aint that brisk on an i7 quad core 3.5Ghz with 6GB of RAM - ever considered Win XP :) If you have installed it as above - what Direct X pack did you reinstall exactly - the one given in the patch read mes? Do you change the advanced settings for wov in the Nvidia advanced settings - could something there be the issue? Other than that it could be maybe something in the registry - interestingly I haven't fully installed any of the first gen games on here - they are just copies of the game folder from my last PC - thats First Eagles 2008, ODS(WOE 2008), YAP1 & 2 (WOV 2006) Have you got a backed up copy of the wov folder you could just stick on and try??
  11. 1. There are Nukes in the SF2 ordnance packs in the SF2 download section - stick it on your desktop and have a browse through the weapons folder - then just copy what you want into the game. 2. Check the naming of the skins bmp files - and compare the layout to the ones already on the jet
  12. What date does the mission take place?
  13. Im Afraid its looking like support for AF has now finished - it was released in 2005. However any patch would not change anything in regards to what you are asking because only the F-16s were supported flyable jets. Sticking in a dodgy hack to fly the others - well you get what you get - and you have to live with any bugs. cue posts about FF/OF etc blah
  14. What patch are you on? I get clouds and effects in Win 7 64 (Feb 2010) just fine. Does your graphics card actually support DX10?
  15. Yes make sure you are patched to the latest version Oct 2008 I think Dont install it in program files or program files x86 Right click on icon and tick the run as administrator box and set the compatibility mode to Win XP - see if that improves anything.
  16. Hahaha
  17. Again not that I know of - it didn't make it past the prototype, let alone the A version
  18. Interesting - The wiki gives it a fair account - where as everything else just says it was pants. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boulton_Paul_Defiant Has there ever been a 3D one though? Good work on the model though V2k
  19. From what I have read we have it easy - with the real AIM-4 once you had set the coolant running - which took about 4.5 seconds to cool the seeker - you then had to launch it before the coolant ran out....
  20. It was real but never put into production http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_F-107
  21. Not sure myself - but it sounds like an acronym for a mod from many many years ago for the original Falcon 4.0
  22. That looks totally fantastic even at that stage! congratulations
