  1. Look in the down load section, I think Stary and a few others did effects packages a while back and posted them there. I know that I have a few if not all installed and they look better than the default settings. At least I can see the flash of the warhead when I use an A2A missile and it hits the target. If those aren't what you want, yes you can do changes yourself, just find the appropriate tutorials and ask questions in the right board.
  2. I got that when it first came out and got pissed when I found out it was for FSX. I installed it once I got X and had no trouble getting it started, you have read the manual. I also don't have any patches and it runs fine. I did make a copy of the manual for use as a checklist. If you want I can zip up the manual and checklist and send them to you. It is really a good bird but it is manual and checklist driven.
  3. And the camels you rode in on you bedsheet wearing, backstabbing, Bedouin Bastards!
  4. Today I saw the names of several Shipmates on the Navy Chief Selectee List, that list is a two edge sword for me. On the one edge, the month after I put in my retirement papers I found that I had passed the Chief's exam on the first try but I will never know if I could have been a good Chief. On the flip side, the young Sailors that I trained over the years as a First or Second Class PO now wear the Fouled Anchor of a CPO. If there was ever a measure of a man's success, I think that this would be it, my young troops are now the backbone of the Navy. Congrats to all of this years new CPO's, may you all have at least one evil, mean, and nasty Bastard PO1 to keep you out of trouble and keep your troops in top form. Remember, a good Chief trusts his First and Second classes, gives his Third Class Petty Officers the chances and support they need to prove themselves and makes sure his E-3 and below are properly groomed for their Crows. A good Chief also knows when to leave shop discipline to the shop and never, ever, ask where something came from. Trust me, you don't want to know. BRAVO ZULU to you all
  5. The horror, the horror, what ever happened to the Back Street Boys?
  6. The thing is no body ever want's to know what I use to poke the fire buttons
  7. Went ahead and installed FSX the other day. I have to say, it runs better than my FS9 install. My only gripe is a lack of good freeware helos. Most of the payware I have installed were ones bundled with an FS9 purchase. So far the only thing I bought for X is an FSUIP registration, I can't live without a fully functioning copy. My big worry about frame rates being s**t were false, found the right mix of scenery and traffic settings to make the world interesting. As of now I'm slowly building up my scenery and aircraft files, this time only things I am really going to fly and fly to.
  8. Subscribed in April but I'll try to kick some dough to the server in a couple of paydays, had to kick cash to the FS Top Gun server this month. As I am an admin there I have to do my part to keep it running, after seeing your post for your subscription I now know that I'm not the only server admin that helps keep the doors open somewhere.
  9. Angeleno's as a rule have the collective IQ of 100 gym teachers, at least that's what one of my buds in the LAPD says. I'm just pissed that the Helicopter fly in at Hansen Dam got canc'd.
  10. Here's an update from the Carmagedon Hot Line http://soundcloud.com/kroq/carmaggedon-hotline Thanks to KROQ

  13. Is this what they mean by gorilla warfare?
  14. Congrats, I've had this series for almost as long as it's been out and never finished a campaign, short attention span. I prefer single mission as I have more say on where I'm going and what I'm going to carry. That said this is the only air combat sim that I will put any time into, CFS was a joke and if I wanted to read a manual that could choke a horse I would have stayed in the Navy, so no LOMAC and no Falcon 4. Third Wire Games, Come for the campaigns, stay for the dogfights!
  15. A cousin of mine has several, an early 1941 Jeep, an M3 Halftrack and a Weasel. When I get the chance I'll get some pics, I always wanted to drive a halftrack.
  16. You can assign a secondary gun group through your controls menu, as for firing through the secondary button, you need to select the pods through the A2G switch just as you would selecting the right bomb and you should be good to go.
  17. I don't give a damn 'Bout my reputation I've never been afraid of any deviation An' I don't really care If ya think I'm strange I ain't gonna change An' I'm never gonna care 'Bout my bad reputation

  19. I concur with the lock tone files, they are a world of difference in the game. As for the 'winders, anything up to the Lima and Mike models were crap in real life. If you want success in the game they are best used at from dusk to dawn, at those times the seeker heads won't be confused by the sun of it's reflection off of ground water. As for guns in a Phantom, the SUU pods are good for strafing and last ditch in a dogfight. Having mounted a couple long time ago they are a beast to boresight and we never were quite sure if they were dead on. Stick with missiles, the AIM-7E and F's can be your friend. Just lock them up in your radar, fire your Sparrow and hold the target in your radar until impact. The AIM-7 gives you a wider engagement envelope and a little longer reach. And the WoV free expansion that is available here is a good challenge after you get tired of the stock install.
