  1. What view were you using for the MiG? If it was the target to player view, then the MiG would be flying away. Rogue, I've been hit by a MiG-21's Atolls more than once. They definately use 'em. You just have to remember, the Atoll is worse than an AIM-9B, so its pretty easy to spoof it. Even easy jinking can put you out of the launch parameters, so I don't think I need to mention what heavy dogfighting will do, :D.
  2. Dihedral effect on the F-104 I can understand. On the A-1 though? That has positive dihedral, which would keep it from rolling.
  3. Man, Operation Flashpoint rox. Its funny, no one says anything about the AI in F-15 or F/A-18. They had pretty good wingmen AI, but I never had any problems wasting the OPFOR. I guess thats realistic though, :). Just cuz the Iranians have F-14 doesn't mean they know how to use them.
  4. The problems might just be related to the flight models. All of the lighter aircraft have a bad tendency to roll at high AOA, so the rudder could just be another thing that sets it off. Have you tried using combined rudder and ailerons? Like, rudder to the right, ailerons to the left to counteract the roll?
  5. Now, if only they'd redo the game... and add in all the surface and air warfare too.
  6. And a pair of SUU23's would fit great under the top wings
  7. Hahaha, Pasko, its certainly a surprise. As to rotating the gunsight... I think you're gonna have to learn how to make cockpits, and manually design a nice left sight.
  8. Yeah, Fast Eagle's not gonna recieve much support from me! Il-2 is the absolute top of the line WWII sim, and currently, it might be the best sim out period. I am ticking off the days till Forgotten Battles. That dynamic campaign is going to take Il-2 through the roof. I've already got my absentee notes for school written out. "Mrs. Hoover, our son Sam was unable to come to school the last week because, of... um... amebic dyssentary, yeah, thats it."
  9. Definately use Plane-Maker! Thats what sold me on the sim. Its great not to be limited in the number of aircraft available. I can't wait for the combat version to be released either, but frankly I think it will be a major disappointment. Its just too hard for one man to make a realistic military flight simulation, or at least on that can compete with other sims out at the moment.
  10. 1.4 Athlon 512 PC-2100 DDR Radeon 8500 SB X-Gamer 5.1 I installed DX9 beta, vast improvements. Went to DX9 full, and it seemed like something was lost in the translation. Still better than 8 though.
  11. And I hope they can do it quick. I sent an email to the original designer, so hopefully he can help.
  12. Chief, those inflight deployement problems were do to the fact that the bomb was ejected directly into the turbulence caused by the engines. The bomb would ride back there in the jetwash, and it was impossible to predict when it would 'decide' to fall out of it. They were afraid the bomb could potentially fly back into the aircraft, or do something else equally damaging, not to mention that you completely lost any accuracy you might have had. Not too much of a problem with a nuke, but with normal weapons, thats quite a factor. I hate to basically advertise for another sim here, but if you would really like to design a new Vigilante with an updated layout, and actually see how it would fly, try X-Plane, www.x-plane.com. It actually mathematically derives the flight model, meaning the aircraft will fly in the sim just like it would in the real world.
  13. My God. Don't ever do that in real life. The recoil from the pods is like twice that of the engine thrust, and the shear weight of the pods will keep you from flying long.
  14. OK, heres the address: D:Strike FightersObjectsAircraftA-1H All the files from the application are straight in there, including the paintscheme folder. I just can't find any place to choose the plane in SF.
  15. Its now hosted here. Check the front page. I can't get it to work either, Chief. I installed all the files from the *.exe into a new 'A-1h' folder in my objects/aircraft folder just like the website said to, but nowhere in SF can I find a menu that lists it as flyable. Disappointing, this is one of the aircraft I wanted to fly the most.
  16. Its been released. Look for it on the Skunkworks forums. You need to do some file work, but it looks OK. I am currently downloading it.
  17. Well, wasn't the B model Vig meant to be an interceptor or long range fighter? They planned to remove the bomb bay and add a third engine, right?
  18. Dude, Todd, welcome to my world. Every time my physics teacher mentions anything about flight, its like the entire class groans and says, "Talk to Sam. He knows about planes and stuff." The same thing happens in JROTC, sadly.
  19. Thanks, I'm gonna take a look at it right now. Maj., Sorry I didn't see the link in the Radar Mission topic. Can't wait to do some A2A in the O-1E, :D.
  20. So, there isn't a publicly available mission creator yet?
  21. Where can I find this mission generator of yours? I've looked, but evidently not hard enough.
  22. God, Snakeyes are great. Toobad they're missing from SF :D .
  23. I think it was me, but I was talking about all the clouds EXCEPT the overcast ones. I meant that the broken and scattered cloud cover was impossible to fly through. They are just kinda 'painted' onto the background. At least, they are no where near the level of Il-2 (My current benchmark for all things flight sim). Nobody get in a huff or anything, :), I like SF, and I don't mind the clouds. I just wish the scattered and broken were 'real' so that you had to fly above them and do ground attack through holes in the cover.
  24. Mission editor? Can somebody point me to the link?
  25. If you don't want to go messing around with *.ini files, you can download most of the MiG's directly from Marco's site. For the other aircraft, though, you will have to do a little work.
