Downloads - old file announcements & links to files
By BUFF,
Our whole downloads area is being revised as part of the re-organisation/update since the hacks.
As a result of this links to files in File Announcements pre-dating the re-organisation may not work & just throw you back to the forums.
However, if you just go into the downloads section & look for what you want you should be able to find it OK.
Back to work
By Fates,
CombatAce.com is back up with some minor limtiations at the moment.
We are limited to forums and YES...the downloads sections are fully functionable.
There is more to come as we work on the frontpage and other aspects of the site. This maintenance may be ongoing over the next few weeks, but the core of the site is back up for everyone to enjoy. I apologize for the temporary loss of service, but the updates that we are performing will be well worth the discomfort.

Half a Million Served
By Erik,
Just thought I'd share that as of yesterday we've served over a half a million files to the sim community. I'd like to thank all the great mod'ers and supporters of this site. Each of them truely understand why it's here and what service they provide to our community. Thank You! I hope you each have the opportunity to say thanks to these great few while you're enjoying the great mod's and community they provide.
Until the next update.

Site cookie causes chaos
By Erik,
An update after the site move:
A browser problem has come up after we moved the site that has to do with cookies that we set in your browser. These cookies are part of normal day to day browser activity and they do things like remember your username / password and whether you wish to remain logged in on subsequent returns to our site. This cookie once resident on your machine stays active and will not expire. The below information will help you resolve this issue.
SYMPTOM:
Our main site (http://www.combatace.com) will not open or gives page display, can't be displayed errors.
CAUSE:
This is being caused by a resident cookie we set when the "remember me" box was ticked.
FIX:
- Close all browser windows.
- Delete stored cookies from our domain. These cookies are stored in your browser cache directory. You can search for any cookie that has combatace.com in it and delete it.
- Clear your browser cache (stored pages).
- Re-open a new browser window to the site.
*Note - If you have multiple browsers you'll need to remove the cookies stored for each browser you use. (They are stored in different places)
Should you have any other concerns or need more indepth help please feel free to reply to this message.
Take care;
Erik Thompson

Site Move
By Fates,
We're moving the sites to a newer and better equipped data center. After the last round of upgrades they put us through, without warning, and the subsequent answers we've received from them about all that was broken or lost, this move is the best thing for our membership. A new data center and cluster has been secured at a state of the art facility with some really great and knowledgeable staff. We will end up with faster connectivity, new machines, and hopefully no down time because of the data center staff in the future.
So to that note we plan on making the move this weekend and we will try to minimize the downtime. However, we will need to populate our DNS with the internet again which could take 24 to 48 hours depending on local internet service providers. We will have a fully functional and complete site ready and operational before we migrate the DNS so downtime should be very minimal, but there may some short outage.
