The Curious Tale of the Lightning and the U-2
This simple mission pack allows me to share with you some interesting experiences I've had carrying out ultra high-level interceptions with the English Electric Lightning F.6 and the Lockheed U2-A. From my observations, using Wings Over Vietnam as a base game engine, the behaviour of both aircraft seems very close to what was experienced in real life – a testament perhaps to the quality of the Thirdwire platform and the flight models of the test aircraft.
Choose from two mission profiles: Fmk6-U2@60k IC or Fmk6-U2@70k IC for Lightning intercept missions at 60,000ft or 70,000ft respectively.
This download consists of the original illustrated article that I posted at SimHQ and the mission files. Installation instructions and prerequisites are included.
Released under CombatAce Fair-Use terms (See here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=26131)

Mod for the F-4E-35 with long gun muzzle (MIDAS IV mod) from 1971-72:
This is a small mod to the F-4E-35 Phantom II (available for download here at CombatAce:
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=1020
This version is correct for a Vietnam-era unslatted F-4E model and is a must-have, whereas the F-4E as presented in Wings Over Vietnam has slatted wings (a post-Vietnam modification).
During 1971-72 the USAF F-4Es in Southeast Asia were modified with the MIDAS IV extended muzzle for the plane's M61 20mm Vulcan cannon. This presumably helped the issue of ingesting muzzle gases into the engines during the firing of the weapon.
I have enclosed the stock F-4E-35 data.ini modified to include the enclosed long gun part. (In my own install I duplicated the entire F-4E-35 by renaming the folder, aircraft.ini and data.ini files all to "F-4E-35LG" and in the F-4E-35LG.ini I renamed the AircraftFullName= to "F-4E long gun").
Drop the .LOD file loose into your aircraft folder.
My thanks to Dave and the rest of the team which brought you the original F-4E-35 package, and for allowing me to release their original data.ini file with the text entries to allow the long gun to appear.

Introduction
========
this pack contains pilotmodels for VF-32 . VF-32 operated the F-14 Tomcat untill 2005 before transitioning to the F/A-18F Super Hornet
Skinlist
=====
VF32_pilot: pilot for VF-32 (with the sword painted on his helmet)
VF32___rio: rio for VF-32 (with squadron badge on his helmet)
Installation
=======
These pilotskins are based on the models designed by AmokFloo.
Unzip, if you wish, into a temporary folder. This works best. All the files in the zip are seperate zips. This allows you to select which or how many pilots you wish to add.
Place your selections in the /Objects/Aircraft folder --do NOT place the files in specific aircraft folder!!
If you haven't extracted the data.ini for the aircraft you wish to modify, do so.
If already extracted, open up the **data.ini for your aircraft of choice. In the example below, we are using the F-100D:
Find the section marked crew, as below
// Crew ---------------------------------------------------------
[Pilot]
SystemType=PILOT_COCKPIT
PilotModelName= <-- (left blank in this example)
Position=0.00,4.15,0.88
SeatModelName=seat_f-100
SeatPosition=0.00,3.98,0.45
MinExtentPosition=-0.25,3.52,-0.30
MaxExtentPosition= 0.25,4.83, 1.09
CanopyNodeName=canopy_frame_rear_outer
If your data ini does not have the line:
PilotModelName=
You =MUST= add it.
Then, you can add the pilot figure of choice. Remember, it is case sensitive, so if it's "PILOTAF" you must use all capitals. If it's "PilotCH", you must use the upper and lower case lettering. Adding ".lod" is NOT required.
Acknowledgments
============
My work is based upon that of AmokFloo. His work served as a foundation and inspiration to create these pilots.
If you want to learn yourself how to create/mod pilot skins, I wrote a tutorial at combatace (http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=25987)
I am a signatory to the Freeware Licensing Agreement (http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=26131) so you may use my work on these conditions:
1. The work may not be used in payware projects or in projects that will not be freely distributed under these same terms.
2. You must give proper credit in your readme file.
3. If feasible, include the original readme along with your new mod.
Now install those skins and start flying.

Screen Set for WoI: Plane Jane Screens for Generic Usage:
This is a rather generic set of screens for WoI. They are designed for use in a WW2 type of install, but can be use for any other Version of Wing Over Isreal. Excpeting maybe the main screen and loadinscreen1. Those are WW2 flavored.
Included in this package are the following screens:
Debriefscreen.bmp
Loadingscreen1.bmp
LoadoutScreen.bmp
Mainscreen.bmp
OptionsScreen.bmp
PlanningMapScreen.bmp
SingleMissionScreen.bmp
They've had the IDF backgrounds removed, and use various cloudy sky backgrounds, excepting for the Mainscreen and LoadingScreen1. The Loadinscreen1 uses various and sundry WW2 theatre maps and will be seen where aircraft have no specific Loading Screen called out in their inis. The Mainscreen is a Mercator projection world globe over a Hubble telescope deep space picture.
These are just a quick and diry fix for those experimentating with WW2 installs, or for those that want a more generic type screen. They are totally based off the stock originals, so need no ini adjustments. All the 'hot spots' for the buttons remain in their usual positions.
Relatively simple, easy to follow instructions are in the enclosed readme...so, give it a read!
Have Fun!!!
