      HISTORY (From wikipedia.org)

      Development

The Intruder was developed in response to a U.S. Navy specification for an all-weather carrier-based attack aircraft to serve as a replacement for the piston-powered, WWII-era A-1 Skyraider. Grumman was awarded the contract in 1957, and the resulting A2F-1 made its first flight on 19 April 1960. It was redesignated A-6A in the fall of 1962, and entered squadron service in February 1963.

The A-6 became the USN and USMC's principal medium attack aircraft from the mid-1960s through the 1990s. It served in combat in Vietnam and in later engagements in Lebanon and Libya. The Intruder saw further duty in the 1991 Gulf War, but it was phased out of service quickly in the mid-1990s. It was intended for replacement by the A-12 Avenger II, but following that troubled stealth aircraft's cancellation, the Intruder was left to soldier on for a few more years before retiring in favor of the F/A-18 Hornet.

The last Intruders were retired 19 December 1996. Some aircraft were used to form artificial reefs, but the majority are stored at AMARC against possible future need.

Although the Intruder could not match the F/A-18's speed or air-combat capability, the A-6's range and load-carrying ability are sorely missed.

      Variants

      A-6A
The initial version of the Intruder was built around the complex and advanced DIANE (Digital Integrated Attack/Navigation Equipment), intended to provide a high degree of bombing accuracy even at night and in poor weather. DIANE consisted of multiple radar systems: the Norden AN/APQ-92 search radar and a separate AN/APQ-112 for tracking, AN/APN-141 radar altimeter, and AN/APN-153 Doppler to provide position updates to the AN/ASN-31 inertial navigation system. An air-data computer and ballistics computer integrated the radar information for the bombardier/navigator (BN) in the right-hand seat. TACAN and ADF were also provided for navigational use. When it worked, DIANE was perhaps the most capable nav/attack system of its era, giving the Intruder the ability to fly and fight in even very poor conditions (particularly important over Vietnam and Thailand during the Vietnam War). It suffered numerous teething problems, though, and it was several years before its reliability was established.

Total A-6A production was 488, including six pre-production prototypes. Many of the surviving aircraft were converted to other variants.

      A-6B
To provide Navy squadrons with a SEAD aircraft to attack enemy air defense and SAM systems--a mission dubbed "Iron Hand" in Navy parlance--19 A-6As were converted to A-6B standard from 1967 to 1970. The A-6B had many of its standard attack systems removed in favor of special equipment to detect and track enemy radar sights and to guide AGM-45 Shrike and AGM-78 Standard anti-radiation missiles. Five were lost in combat, and the rest were later converted to A-6E standard in the late 1970s.

      A-6C
12 A-6As were converted in 1970 to A-6C standard for night attack missions against the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Vietnam. They were fitted with a TRIM (Trails/Roads Interdiction Multi-sensor) pod in the fuselage for FLIR and low-light TV cameras, as well as a "Black Crow" engine ignition detection system. One of these aircraft was lost in combat, the others were later converted to A-6E standard after the war.

      KA-6D
In the early 1970s some 78 A-6As and 12 A-6Es were converted for use as tanker aircraft, providing aerial refueling support to other strike aircraft. The DIANE system was removed and an internal refueling system was added, sometimes supplemented by a D-704 refueling pod on the centerline pylon. The KA-6D theoretically could be used in the day/visual bombing role, but it apparently never was, with the standard load-out being four fuel tanks. A few KA-6Ds went to sea with each Intruder squadron, and the retirement of the aircraft left a gap in USN and USMC refueling tanker capability that was only later remedied by the new F/A-18E Super Hornet, which can act as a tanker.

      A-6E
The definitive attack version of the Intruder, introduced in 1970, with its first deployment 9 December 1971, with vastly upgraded nav/attack systems. The original search and track radars of the A-6A were replaced by a single AN/APQ-148 multi-mode radar, and the onboard computers with a more sophisticated (and generally more reliable) solid-state electronic system. A new AN/ASN-92 inertial navigation system was added, along with the CAINS (Carrier Aircraft Intertial Navigation System), for greater navigation accuracy. Beginning in 1979 all A-6Es were fitted with the AN/AAS-33 TRAM (Target Recognition and Attack, Multi-Sensor system, a small, gyroscopically stabilized turret under the nose containing FLIR boresighted with a laser spot-tracker/designator. TRAM was matched with a new AN/APQ-156 radar. The BN could use both TRAM imagery and radar data for extremely accurate attacks, or use the TRAM sensors alone to attack without using the Intruder's radar (which might warn the target). TRAM also allowed the Intruder to autonomously designate and drop laser-guided bombs.

In the early 1990s some surviving A-6Es were upgraded under SWIP (Systems/Weapons Improvement Program) to enable them to use the latest precision-guided munitions, including AGM-65 Maverick, AGM-84 Harpoon, AGM-84E SLAM, and the AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missile. SWIP aircraft also received a GPS receiver and new INS and TACAN systems. After a series of wing-fatigue problems, about 85% of the fleet was fitted with new graphite/epoxy/titanium/aluminum composite wings.

A-6E models totaled 445 aircraft, about 240 of which were converted from earlier A-6A/B/C models.

      A-6F and A-6G

An advanced A-6F Intruder II was proposed in the mid-1980s that would have replaced the Intruder's elderly Pratt & Whitney J52 turbojets with non-afterburning versions of the General Electric F404 turbofan used in the F/A-18 Hornet, providing substantial improvements in both power and fuel economy. The A-6F would have had totally new avionics, including a Norden AN/APQ-173 synthetic aperture radar and multi-function cockpit displays--the APQ-173 would have given the Intruder air-to-air capacity with provision for the AIM-120 AMRAAM. Two additional wing pylons were added, for a total of seven stations.

Although five development aircraft were built, the Navy ultimately chose not to authorize the A-6F, preferring concentrate on the A-12 Avenger II. This left the service in a quandry when the A-12 was cancelled in 1991.

Grumman proposed a cheaper alternative in the A-6G, which had most of the A-6F's advanced electronics, but retained the existing engines. This, too, was cancelled.

      Electronic Warfare Versions

An electronic warfare/ECM version of the Intruder was developed early in the aircraft's life for the USMC, which needed a new ECM platform to replace its elderly F3D-2Q Skyknights. An EW version of the Intruder, initially designated A2F-1Q and subsequently redesignated EA-6A, first flew on 26 April 1963. It had a Bunker-Ramo AN/ALQ-86 ECM suite, with most electronics contained on the walnut-shaped pod atop the vertical fin. They were theoretically capable of firing the AGM-45 Shrike anti-radiation missile, although they were apparently not used in that role.

Only 28 EA-6As were built (two prototypes, 15 new-build, and 11 conversions from A-6As), serving with Marine Corps squadrons in Vietnam. It was phased out of front-line service in the mid-1970s, remaining in use in reserve units with the USMC and then the US Navy primarily for training purposes. The last had been retired completely by 1993.

A much more highly specialized derivative of the Intruder was the EA-6B Prowler, a 'stretched' airframe with two additional systems operators, and more comprehensive systems for the electronic warfare and SEAD roles. 170 were produced. The Prowler remains in service (see separate entry for more information).

      Combat Experience

A-6 Intruders first saw action during the Vietnam War, where the craft were used extensively against targets in Vietnam. The aircraft's long range and heavy payload coupled with its ability to fly in all weather made it invaluable during the war. However, its effectiveness in flying low and delivering its payload made it especially vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire and in the eight years the Intruder was used, the U.S. Navy and Marines lost 68 of the aircraft in combat.

Intruders saw action in strikes against the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon in 1983. One Intruder and one A-7 Corsair were lost during the Lebr. The BN could use both TRAM imagery and radar data for extremely accurate attacks, or use the TRAM sensors alone to attack without using the Intruder's radar (which might warn the target). TRAM also allowed the Intruder to autonomously designate and drop laser-guided bombs.

Intruders also saw action operating from the aircraft carriers America CV-66 and Coral Sea CV-41 during Operation "El Dorado Canyon"in April of 1986. The squadrons involved were VA-34 "Blue Blasters" from CV-66 USS America and VA-55 "Warhorses" from the CV-41 USS Coral Sea.

    5. A6M2 Sen Baku

A6M2 Sen Baku in the Battle of the Philippine Sea

      Ryan Toews from j-aircraft.com

The fighter-bomber version of the A6M2 is probably the least documented Zero variant. This article is an attempt to shed some light on some of the distinguishing details of this plane.

First, allow me to offer a few a words on the proper nomenclature. Most published sources call this Zero a “Bakusen”. However, in the last year Manabu Kawasaki wrote a new study entitled A New View of the Battle of Philippine Sea. This book points out that the official records term the Zero fighter-bomber the Sen Baku; this is also supported by the memories of a number of pilots. My thanks to Kenji Miyazaki for drawing this to my attention.

The A6M2 Sen Baku was introduced in early 1944. The D3A Val carrier-borne dive-bomber was recognized as becoming increasingly inadequate for front line use and the replacement IJN dive-bomber, the D4Y Judy, needed a longer take-off roll than could be accommodated on the light carriers comprising part of the First Mobile Fleet. Accordingly, a number of A6M2s were modified to carry a 250 kg bomb by replacing the drop tank so as to fit a centre-line bomb rack. These modified Zeros lacked dive brakes and bomb-throwing racks and so were restricted to less effective shallower bomb approaches, but it was thought that the flight decks of the American carriers could be damaged enough to render them incapable of aerial operations.

Concurrent with the introduction of the A6M2 Sen Baku was the rebuilding of the Japanese carrier force. Training for both the 601 Kokutai only began in February of 1944 and 652 Ku and 653 Ku began training a month later. Very likely then the Zero Sen Baku only began arriving from the factory sometime in the period from February to April.

Mitsubishi had stopped producing the A6M2 in mid-1942, so it can be safely assumed that all of the A6M2 Sen Bakus were built by Nakajima. Gakken 33 gives Nakajima’s monthly production numbers for both the A6M2 and the A6M5. Production of the latter was well underway in March 1944 and it was in full production by April. Yet production of the A6M2 only shut down gradually, with 111 aircraft still being built in April and May 1944. It may very well be that this drawn out production of the A6M2 during the time the A6M5 was being turned out in strength was due to the need for additional Sen Baku variants of the Zero. As will be explained below, the Zero fighter-bombers were not a simple conversion and were much more likely to have been given their necessary modifications on the assembly line.

The A6M2 Sen Baku also appears to have been the first Zero to make use of two wing drop-tanks. On page 82 of Aero Detail 7 is a small notation which states that a number of A6M5bs were modified to carry both a centre-line bomb load as well as wing tanks. This was done to maintain the same range performance as regularly equipped Zeros. A photo on pages 20-21 of the recently published Japanese Naval Air Force in Action shows several carrier-borne A6M2s equipped with wing mounted drop-tanks. (Image 1) The tail codes visible on several other aircraft in the foreground help identify the image as having been taken some time before the Battle of the Philippine Sea. Using the evidence from this photo, it can be argued that the bomb carrying A6M2s used during the Battle of the Philippine Sea were also equipped with wing drop-tanks. Further substantiation for this can be found in looking at the battle itself. The Japanese strategy was to use the advantage of their planes’ longer range to be able to attack before the Americans were within range themselves. And to maintain this longer range the A6M2 had to be able to use the additional fuel available in external drop-tanks.

      A6M2 Sen Baku Markings

Information on markings for the Battle of the Philippine Sea Sen Bakus is likewise very sparse, being limited to only one such aircraft. The picture below is form the USMC collection at NARA. It is identified as being taken on Guam in July of 1944. According to Jim Lansdale a second photo in the same series appears to show the same plane in the background of the image with the code of “323“ visible on the tail (Image 12)

It is assumed here that the “2” in the “247” part of the tail code identified the role of plane “47” as a bomber instead of a fighter, continuing a practice used previously by IJN carrier units. The tail code prefix of “323” serves to further identify the plane as belonging to the 3rd Carrier (Ryuho) of the 2nd Carrier Division. All of the aircraft of the 2nd Carrier Division were administratively assigned to the 652 Kokutai.

According to Hata and Izawa as well as Tillman the 652 Ku launched either 25 or 26 of its full complement of 26 A6M2 fighter-bombers as part of the second Japanese air strike on the 19th of July. This force came in from the north and had minimal contact with American forces. In spite of this, 4 A6M2 fighter-bombers were lost. It seems safe to assume that any of these 4 planes might have crashed on Guam.

From all of the above it may be possible to reconstruct the appearance of at least one of the rather elusive A6M2 Sen Baku that took such heavy losses in the Battle of the Philippine Sea. Bearing the tail code of “323-247” it was equipped with two wing mounted drop tanks as well as a flush-mounted bomb rack to carry a 250 Kg bomb.

Over the past months Dave Douglas has been allowing me to berate him with endless suggestions concerning his outstanding series of Zero profiles. He has been kind enough to take my contradictory notes and comments and create a profile of the Sen Baku which has been described above. (Image 13) Dave has also provided a drawing of the bomb rack used on the A6M2 Sen Baku. This illustration also provides a better look at the Type 99 #25 Model 1 Ordinary bomb and its markings. The bomb’s markings are of the earlier war pattern which were continued up to July 1944. (Image 14)

A6M2 Sen Baku Package: for SF/WoV/WoE WW2, PTO installs

This little modification creates a new aircraft based off ArmorDave's A6M5 "Zeke" IJN fighter and Wrench work. Included in this package are the skins, inis, and some various small and sundry bits. The aircraft LOD and cockpit folders are NOT included - you 'll be transfering them over from the stock A6M5. Therefore, it is NOT a complete aircraft package.

= You MUST have the latest Weapons Pak installed for the WW2 Weapons!!! =

Obviously, you must have AD's Zero's installed to use the package....

      ---------------------
      Install instructions:

Unzip, as I always reccomend, the "A6M2 Sen Baku.zip" to a temp folder somewhere that easy to find.

Create a new folder, "A6M2 Sen Baku" in your game's main /Aircraft folder.

Copy/paste all the new items; inis, skin folder, and the various and sundry bits I've supplied, into the new A6M5C folder.

From the original A6M5, transfer over (copy/paste) the following items:

      A6M5.LOD
      A6M5.OUT (usefull for decaling)

Cockpit folder -- the whole, entire folder :)

Copy/paste the "LavEngine.wav" into your sounds folder, if you don't have it already. This is from Hinchbooke, and was (duh!) designed for the Soviet Laggs and the LA-9 and 11. It has a nice raspy radial sound.

Hangar and Loading screens are included. They're my old one's for a way's back.

      That's pretty much it...go fly!

    10. AC-130A Gunship UPDATED

      --------------------------C-130A Spectre Gunship----------------------------------

Thanks for downloading! This is a little mod of the stock C-130A offering available in the Wings Over Europe game, and in Strike Fighters Project One/Gold. I simply added some guns, and a nice cockpit, and painted it. This was released a few years back, but the lineup of the weapons were all defunct. I went ahead and placed the proper guns, and added a new one......A freaking M102 Howitzer cannon! It is a makeshift upgrade I did, and I like the results. It is pretty devistating as well. You will need Del's C-130 cockpit to make this work, or alternately, you an use whatever cockpit you want. I supplied an enhanced avionics suite, and also moved the cockpit position.

The US Air Force uses the AC-130 gunships for close air support, air interdiction, and force protection. Close air support roles include supporting ground troops, escorting convoys, and flying urban operations. Air interdiction missions are conducted against planned targets and targets of opportunity. Force protection missions include defending air bases and other facilities. Stationed at Hurlburt Field in Northwest Florida, the gunship squadrons are part of the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), a component of Special Operations Command (SOCOM).

      INSTALL:
1.extract zip to root of your sim.

2.add weapon and gun data provided below

3.Copy/paste the cockpit folder from Del's C-130H ,J, or which ever one you have into your AC-130A folder.

      4.Blow stuff up.

      ////THANKS\\\\

I want to give a huge thank you to Dels,Combatace, and the original author of the AC-130 gunpod. Without you, none of this would be possible. Del's makes some nice C-130s, and be looking forward to my mod of his bird next. I am going to make an AC-130U Spooky out of it. Look for that here soon, hopefully!

      ///DATA
Here are the entries for the weapon editor for the 2 pods. Add them to your Weapondata.ini file. Replace the WeapondataXXXX with the next number in sequence. Then use the weapon editor, open the forementioned Weapondata.ini file with it. Save it, and close! You are done. If you have bunyaps weapon pack, or any others installed, do a quick search of your ini to make sure you do not have these already.

The guns are in the next section. Pretty much the same thing, but you open your GunData.ini file instead. After that, open the gun editor. Open the Gundata.ini file, then save. You are now ready to go kick some ass!

In the late 1980s, the Federal Erusian Navy issued a request
for the development of a new combat aircraft that could also
be used by the Air Force. Preliminary blueprints of the new jet,
named the "X-02A", were completed by late February 1987,
and its maiden flight took place in 1998. Production continued
until the start of the Usean Continental War; Erusea planned to
use the X-02s for the defending squadron of the Stonehenge
network, but controversy was sparked from opposition groups
questioning its superiority to conventional aircraft.

    14. AD-4 Skyraider, Version 2.0

AD-4 Skyraider, Korean War Era, Ver. 2

      for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE/WoI and possibly SF2 & SF2:V

Updated to Version 2, Uploaded 5/20/09

Modifications and reskins for MontyCZ's A-1H to create the eariler AD-4 Skyraider, as used during the Korean War.

This version is designed to TOTALLY replace the one I released in 2005; a LOT has been updated. It is also designed for use in a Korean War Era install -- although it's quite workable in any era up to 1956, when the US Navy changed the color scheme.
It is also redesigned for use in the post-08 patch environment of the above mentioned games. Instructions for back-dating to 06 levels are in the "Notes" section below.

There are 2 brand new skins, still representing VF-194 and VMA-121, during the Korean War, but based off new templates, with some enhancements from Royohboy's AdA Skyraiders, all new decals for modex and semi-historical BuNums. I say 'semi', as these ARE in fact, REAL BuNums as assigned by BuAer to AD-3/4s, but I was unable to ascertain exactly which were assigned to each squadron's aircraft. So, consider them as rather generic AD-3/4 BuNums, but accurate nonetheless.
NOTE: these skins are also designed to REPLACE any earlier versions!!!

The VF-194 skin is a redo of that from the original release, with all new decals. The VMA-121 skin bmps are new, and also gets all new decals. I believe the original skin/decal set was done by Volksjager.
For those that might be wondering, yes, there are 2 more skins in the works....

This is a full, complete add on aircraft mod, with all the goodies necessary. Along with the new skins and decals, there's a heavily modified/repainted/tweekificateded A-4E cockpit. (more below in "Notes" on an alternate for those that wish a more beautiful, functional and fantastic cockpit). My old 'artwork' style Korean AD Hangar Screen is included; all the artwork was done by the legendary R.G. Smith, who worked for Douglas, and was more or less the Official Company Artist.

Small data ini edits add a landing light, a few more running lights. Edits to the landing gear make this aircraft fully functional in the post-08 patch world. It should also function pretty well in SF2/SF2:V. This has not been tested by me however, as I don't have either of them yet. It's fully carrier rated, so mission and campaign builders can do their thing. Once we get the new Korea map....

Designed for use with any weapons pak, the 2 necessary addons, the AN/APS-4 radar pod and 300 gallon tank are included. What is NOT included, are the HVARs, 250, 500 and 1000 lb WW2 era bombs. You WILL need to have these available via one of the weapons paks. However, a "new" weapons has been added - the 260 lb AN-M81 Fragmentation Bomb as used by the Navy. Expeciallly usefull for those pesky CAS, Armed Recon and SEAD mission (and historically used by Panthers in the flak suppression roles)

As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions.

    15. AD-4N/NL Skyraider

      AD-4NL Skyraider, Korean War, VC-35

      UPDATED to Ver 2 for SF/SFG/WoV/WoE/WoI and SF2 & SF2:V, too

This version is designed to TOTALLY replace the one I released in 2005; a LOT has been updated.

This has a brand new skin, still representing VC-35 "Night Hecklers" during the Korean War, is based off new templates
from Royohboy's AdA Skyraiders, all new decals for modex and semi-historical BuNums. I saw 'semi', as these ARE in
fact, REAL BuNums as assigned by BuAer to AD-4NLs, but I was unable to ascertain exactly which were assigned to
VC-35's aircraft. So, consider them generic AD-4N BuNums.

This is a full, complete add on aircraft mod, with all the goodies necessary. Along with the new skin and decals, there's a
heavily modified/repainted/tweekified A-4E cockpit. (more below in "Notes" on an alternate).

Small data ini edits add a landing light, a few more running lights. Edits to the landing gear make this aircraft fully functional in the post-08 patch world. It should also function pretty well in SF2/SF2:V. This has been tested, and acts just the same in SF2 as is post-patch WoE. It's fully carrier rated, so mission and campaign builders can do their thing.

2 new -only available in this mod!!- carrier deck Hangar Screens are included. Both are the "WoE-style", but for the SF2
series, that one has the blackboard removed. Also, a new damage tga for the 'tail' section has been created.

Designed for use with any weapons pak, the 3 necessary addons, the APS-31 radar pod, AN/ALT-7 ECM pod, a small
50-ish gallon and 300 gallon tank are included. What is NOT included, are the HVARs, 250, 500 and 1000 lb WW2 era
bombs. You WILL need to have these available via one of the existing weapons paks!!!

As always, unzip this to a temp folder somwhere, and you'll have access to the rest of the readme for it's instructions.

As the real one this model can reach speed over the airframe limit , be careful with the afterburner.

    19. AERITALIA G.91YS

This is modification of great Aeritalia G.91Y Yankee by Enrico "erikgen" Gennari.

"The G.91YS is a variant of the -Y developed specially
for the Swiss Air Force requirement for a Hunter replacement.
Essentially an extra wing pylon has been fitted for
carrying Sidewinder missiles." FLIGHT International, 29 April 1971.

Unfortunately Swiss Air Force preferred the Northrop F-5 and G.91YS stayed on prototype only.

Pair of IRM (Sidewinders) increase actionability of this superb aircraft and evolve to multirole purpose.

There are two skins inside pack: Italian Prototipo - historical; & Swiss based on stock skin with Hunter decals - fictional (what if).

Instalation is same like Yankee (original readme included) + fakepilot method + extra pylon (G91ys_pylon).

      Credits goes to:

      - Enrico "erikgen" Gennari for 3d, skins, pit , blood and tears & awesome aircraft.

      - kreelin for FM

      - Spillone104 for the jet sound, photos and SFP1 conversion

      - Swiss skin decals by Muesli from his Alp-Hunters.

      - FakePilot method by FastCargo

-> Special Thanks to COCAS for made new pylon specially for this mod! <-

Rest: skins, ini works and other changes by me.

    21. Aermacchi MB-339A for SFP1/WOX

Aermacchi MB 339A Version 2.0 for SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI by ID(io)T Team

      Development and operational history

Aermacchi went on to perform an effective "facelift" on the MB-326 to create the "MB-339", a modernized derivative. The first of two "MB-339X" prototypes performed its initial flight on 12 August 1976, with the second following on 20 May 1977. The first of 107 production "MB-339A" trainers for the AMI performed its initial flight on 20 July 1978, with the type entering service in 1979.
The MB-339 retained substantial commonality with the MB-326, differing mainly in a new forward fuselage with a raised cockpit, and twin ventral fins plus a taller tailfin to compensate for the loss in yaw stability due to the new forward fuselage. The MB-339 also featured updated systems, particularly rocket-boosted SICAMB / Martin Baker Mark 1T-10F ejection seats with "zero zero" (zero speed zero altitude) capability. However, the MB-339 retained the Viper 632-43 engine; Aermacchi had seriously considered replacing it with a more modern and fuel-economical engine, but the Viper was cheap, reliable, and had good performance. The engine was license-built by Piaggio. The MB-339 retained the six stores pylons of the MB-326G. It did not have built-in cannon, but cannon pods, dumb bombs, and rocket launchers were qualified as stores for the light attack role. The MB-339 has been export in Argentina where ten "MB-339AA" were obtained by the Argentine Navy (ARA), with the type operating against the British during the Falklands War in 1982. Other MB-339A users included Dubai (seven), Ghana (four), Malaysia (thirteen MB-339AM), Nigeria (twelve MB-339AN), and Peru (sixteen MB-339AP).

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      The War Trial
Lt Guillermo Owen Crippa, a young Argentine Fleet Air Arm pilot, was tasked as No 2 of an armed patrol from Stanley airfield shortly after sun-up. The other Aermacchi jet trainer became unserviceable, so Crippa launched on his own. Near Jersey Point he spotted a Royal Navy Lynx helicopter, but as he pulled up to dive on it, he also sighted the ‘enemy’ invasion force anchored in San Carlos Water. Crippa broke off, reported his discovery of the British to his controller in Stanley – and then announced his intention to attack.
At low level and high speed he emerged from the radar shadow of Fanning Head, and fired all his podded Zuni rockets at HMS ARGONAUT. Crippa then engaged a RFA stores ship with his 30mm DEFA cannon, and before exiting the combat zone, took notes on the number and types of ship sheltering in San Carlos Water. He was subsequently awarded Argentina’s highest decoration for valour in combat. The British were also given a first taste of the courage and determination that characterizes Argentine military aviators.

BELL AH-1 COBRA OVER ... PACKAGE Ver 1.0

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a third party add on of the AH-1G Cobra using models and cockpits created by me.
The original flight model is standard as on many free to download helicopters.
I have just modified it a bit.

It is designed for and works in the SF1 and SF2 series.
However this pack is build on SF1 folder tree.
For SF2 You have to separete Decals folders.
There is a plenty of tutorials how to convert to SF2 series.
For now temporary i dont have posibility to convert and work on SF2 sim. Temporary.
      Sorry for that.

      Instalation:
Copy folders into specific folders in your game.
Add Nations.ini line (below) if you dont have US Army Aviation yet.

      I missed one thing. Pilots.
Use favorite pilots of your choice.

This addon works only with my WeaponPACK. All of weapon stations are made as specific station code and will work only with this weapon pack.
In Spanish AH-1G Z-14 model folder there is seperate folder with additional weapons made for Spanish model. It should be instaled same way as other weapons.
      WeaponPACK can be downloaded here:
      http://combatace.com/files/file/15215-ah-1g-weaponpack/

Standard commands for activating Cobra features:

AIRBRAKES - sun filter/shader on off - just for fun no airbrakes so empty animation slot for use.

ARRESTING HOOK - jump from pilot station to gunner station.

LANDING GEAR - belly light deploy/retract at any speed in late models
      - nose lights activate/deactivate in early model. Lights must on.

A2A mode - gunner station guncross for turret.

      A2Ground mode - pilot M73 cross.

      ANIMATION 7 - turret doors

ANIMATION 8 - ammo bay dooors

ANIMATION 9 - gunner door (ext and cockpit view)

ANIMATION 10 - pilot door (ext and cockpit view)

For take off: Around 75% of throttle vector (small needle on RPM clock in cockpit should be

like 65degree up) - (default ctrl + ) and then increase power to 70-85% (or more for quick

lift) and pull controll stick little and snake will take off. Then reduce throttle vector

as needed and reduce power to 69%. It should fly around 110kts now. 69% is good cruising

speed. Use vector throttle to control speed.

When on the ground you can see rotating blades for pitch and roll. Just additional and

unnecesary thing (not visible so much when flying) but it is possible so it is there. Not

working like i want but better then nothing.

There are two different pylons on inboard stations one for rocketpods one for gunpods. Just

to have a proper angle of fire with GP. It is not proper for real model but in my opinion

best what can be done for SF engine. Rocket pods are ok with correct angle on inboard stations.

I made all Mk40 FFAR rockets with different look of warhead. Two versions low poly with

colors in max and hi-detail with skins. But i just noticed that i did not pack hi-detailed
versions. I will upload it little later in weapon pack update.
I have redone all weapons - launchers M159,157,158,M200, and some navy LAUs. Gunpods M18
and navy SUU-11. XM118 smoke dispenser and also zuni LAU for future.
Guns are loaded as weaponstations so player got options.

    25. AH-1J Sea Cobra SF1

BELL AH-1J SEA COBRA Wings Over the Seven Seas * Ver 1.0 for SF1
For those who stil are stick to sf1 series.
This is a third party add on of the AH-1J Sea Cobra using models and cockpits created by me.
The original flight model is standard as on many free to download helicopters.
I have just modified it a bit.

It is designed for and works in the SF1.

WeaponPACK for this model is also included.

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This model is based on previous G model. Well with little modifications.
Plus new version of slow/fast rotor.

Also new cockpits included for both 69 and 80 versions.

This addon works only with included WeaponPACK. All of weapon stations are made as specific station code and will work only with this weapon pack.

Standard commands for activating Cobra features:

AIRBRAKES - jump from pilot station to gunner station.

ARRESTING HOOK - deploy arresting hook to land on aircraft carrier.

LANDING GEAR - belly light deploy/retract at any speed. Don't forget to fold before shooting.

A2A mode - gunner station guncross for turret.

      A2Ground mode - pilot M60 gunsight cross.

      ANIMATION 7 - turret doors

ANIMATION 8 - ammo bay dooors

ANIMATION 9 - gunner door (ext and cockpit view)

ANIMATION 10 - pilot door (ext and cockpit view)

For take off: Around 75% of throttle vector (small needle on RPM clock in cockpit should be like 65degree up) - (default ctrl + ) and then increase power to 70-85% (or more for quick lift) and pull controll stick little and snake will take off. Then reduce throttle vector as needed and reduce power to 69%. It should fly around 110kts now. 69% is about cruising speed.

When on the ground you can see rotating blades for pitch and roll. Just additional and unnecesary thing (not visible so much when flying) but it is possible so it is there. Not working like i want but better then nothing.

There are two different pylons on inboard stations one for rocketpods one for gunpods. Just to have a proper angle of fire with GP. It is not proper for real model but in my opinion best what can be done for SF engine. Rocket pods are ok with correct angle on inboard stations.

      To take off from ship.
      Increase throttle realase brake.
      Or.
Incrase throttle around 75% of throttle vector controll and then realase brake.
      Landing on ship.
Aproach. Reduce speed using throttle vector controll. Realase hook. Slowly aproach matching speed with vessel and reducing altitude to deck height. Hit deck. Needs practice but it is easy.

Catapult on deck are set 10cm higher than regular deck level. So aircraft is 'hovering' 10cm above deck. It must be this way since these vesseles are not supportin aircraft carrier operations. It is just fooling game engine.

      Skins:
      69 Model
      For Wings Over Vietnam
      HML-367 'Scareface' Marble Mountain 1971
HMA-369 'Marhukers' Operation MARHUK USS Cleveland, USS Denver

For Wings Over Europe North Atlantic/Mediterranean Sea and anywhere.
      HMM-263© Det.HMA-269 USS Guadalcanal 1975
HMM-162© Det.HMA-269 USS Guadalcanal 1976 (I am not sure if BuNos and modex are 100% correct here)
      HMH-362© Det.HMA-269 USS Guadalcanal 1976
HMM-262© Det.HMA-169 USS Tarawa 1979 (I am not sure if BuNos and modex are 100% correct here)

      80 Model
      For Operation Desert Storm
Last and only AH-1J combat units, Marine reserve squadrons.
HMA-773 'Sea Cobras' USS New Orleans 1991
HMA-775 'Coyotes' Camp Smith, Saudi Arabia 1991

For other secret operations during Cold War.
      HMA-169 'World Famous Vipers'
This unit used AH-1J until 1986. This skin is based on photos but serial numbers are not 100% correct. Those are real Sea Cobra numbers but fictional for this unit. However numbers started with 159 were present in this unit.

      Optional files:
Two navy ships LHA and LPD class. Converted to USMC service. So in single mission, player flight will start from ship. (Water map needed)
      Both with landing deck.
Experimental lights on deck of LPD class ship. Credits to Fubar for his carrier lights pack.

      Weapons:
Unlike the G model here on Sea Cobra gun is already part of airframe. This way is better for J model.
If you have downloaded G model plus weaponPACK before rocket pods and gun pods are working fine here.
For 80's model version there is folder with specific weapons. LAU-68/61 for MK66 Hydra plus AN/ALE 39 CMDs
Mk66 Hydra rockets with different warheads included.
LAU-10D/A launchers and MK71 Zunis. Also included in pack. However there is already existing great hi-poly hi-detailed version of LAU-10 and Zunis by Ravenclaw. If you wish you can use them by editing ini files. My Zuni rockets are little more FPS friendly.

One more thing. I am using mostly standard weapon effects.
Make sure to edit it your way if you decide to use this weapons.

During late 70 Marines tested scoop exhaust like on older G. There are just a few photos with this mod.
Here in game it will apear for a while in 1976-1978. It doesn't do anything. Since there is no IR suppresion in game. It is just for look and fun factor.

In 80's model there is ALQ-144 IR Jammer. Since ther is no IR Jamming in game it is just very weak jammer. you can turn it on but don't count on jamming.

      Pilots:
I am using usnpilots by OldDiego. Not included.
Some pilots models might be too big for this helo.

      Instalation:

Copy all files into specific folders.

      Sounds:
For M197gatling sound copy the lines from SOUNDLIST ADDON to your soundlist ini file.

      Squadrons:
Add specific entrys form Squadronlist addon to your squadron list.

      Enjoy.
      Edit your way.
