650404 F-100D Probable MiG Kill
By streakeagle
Four F-100Ds of the 416th TFS, call sign Robin, were tasked with RESCAP on April 4, 1965.
The flight had just started orbiting when they crossed paths with two MiG-17s almost head-on.
During the resulting dogfight, one of the MiGs was fired upon repeatedly by Robin 02.
Capt Donald Kilgus could see hits on the tail, but lost sight of the MiG in the clouds.
The gun camera had failed and no one was able to see what happened to the MiG.
So, the USAF only awarded a probable kill.
After the war, the VPAF admitted to losing three MiG-17s in air-to-air combat that day.
This was the first and last time F-100s tangled with MiGs in Vietnam.
Most likely, this was the first United States air-to-air victory of the Vietnam War.
Robin flight was on RESCAP and had just started orbiting .

/*****Design*******************************************************************/
After extensive testing, this mission uses the following design decisions:
Written for a stock SF2V install, no mods required.
The stock environment does not permit multiple levels and types of clouds/haze.
So the only the haze and cirrus layer are modeled.
The lead F-100D and second pair are on a SWEEP over the Thanh Hoa area.
The player is tasked as an ESCORT for the lead.
The initial aircraft positions reflect WSEG Report 116 Event III-2.
The F-100s are in an orbit at the Objective over water, south of Than Hoa.
The mission starts when the lead MiG is first detected by the F-100s.
The player and the other pair of F-100s are modeled as a separate flights with the same callsign.
This permits historical positioning of the aircraft and differing missions.
The player is flying as Capt Don Kilgus, Robin 02 (Rambler 01 of the 2nd Rambler flight in the game).
The MiG-17s have been broken up into two flights.
This permits historical starting positions and target objectives.
Outcomes are typically close to historical results, but depend greatly on how the player flies.
The MiGs tend to run away when being tailed.
However, if not pursued, they will get a good firing position and score kills.
/*****Playing Tips*************************************************************/
The mission begins with the enemy nearly head-on at 12:30 o'clock and closing fast.
The first thing the player should do is jettison all ordnance and break into the threat.
The F-100D has less power and is less maneuverable than the MiG-17.
Do everything you can to keep your speed as high as possible.
Do the following to make this mission challenging and realistic:
ONLY USE THE NORMAL IN-COCKPIT VIEWS: <F1>, <F2>, and <F3>
Do not use map <M>, target <T>, padlock <F4>, or any view target <F8> keys.
Doing so provides the player with exceptional situational awareness.
The player unrealistically always knows everyone's location.
This extra knowledge allows a skilled player to possibly kill both MiG-17s.
Be proficient with the POV hat, look up <NUM 5> key, and zoom view controls.
Due to the way the game renders distant targets, spotting MiGs is very hard.
MiGs that are not very close cannot be seen at all when zoomed out.
Learn to zoom in and scan the horizon for small moving dots.
This will be frustrating and the spotting distances may seem unrealistic.
The end results are exceptionally realistic.
The player may frequently get lost or disoriented.
Like real pilots, level out and/or use check turns to find your way back.
It will take skill and luck to spot MiGs.
It requires even more skill and luck to get one or more kills.
Of course, TrackIR makes this whole process much easier and realistic.
Play the mission several times following these restrictions.
Once used to it, the player will learn two skills critical to real pilots:
1) Visual scanning discipline to focus and pick out distant contacts.
2) Situational awareness to mentally track planes not within view.
Good luck!

Flottilj 22 Dhimar
By JonathanRL
Dhimar, 1959.
The Swedish Goverment, buying most of their oil from Dhimar has decided to deploy Fighters to the region of Dhimar to aid the defence of the Kingdom. This is the first war for the Swedes in 150 years...
Information:
This campaign will not overwrite anything, and is a minimal change from the SF2 Campaign.
It will add Division 22, a Swedish Squadron flying the J-29F Tunnan or the DLC J-34 Hawker Hunter in the defence of the Dhimari Empire
during the 59´ Campaign. The idea for this is from an AAR I posted with a custom made campaign, and some players of the game asked
for a playable copy, with a minimal of hazzle.
As such, all you need is included.
However, instead of the J-35A Upgrade, i decided to include a What-If "Field Refit" of the J-29F, nicknamed the JA-29D.
The campaign will upgrade to this aircraft in 1963, since I belive this is more plauable then new aircraft being sent down.
The J29F is made by Wrench, and the readme is included. Big thanks to him for supplying it.
To fly the J34 Hawker Hunter in the campaign, you must own the DLC. I really recommend picking it up.
That is about all...
Happy huntin!
1.1
- A Beta tester playing only in SF2 reported Cockpit problems with the J29F. A fix has been included to remedy this if it appears.
- Fixed a bug where the J-34 Hawker Hunter DLC would not appear in the Campaign.

Europe 1963: Red Thunder 2
By arthur666
Europe 1963: Red Thunder 2
A nice tweak to the stock Red Thunder campaign. With the new MirageIII and Lightning interceptors, I was getting bored of the same old "Kill the Il-28 Beagles" missions. So, I added several wings of Tu-16 for the Soviets, a couple of wings of Tu-22, as well as a few more units of fighters.
For the West, we get a few USMC wings (A-4C, F-4B F-8C), the USAF gets the F-104G (make it flyable, its easy!), and the F-4C. One of the Lightning wings will be upgraded to the F3 early in the campaign as well. MirageIIIC makes a big appearance as well.
I chose 1963 for this campaign because the F-104G was available, the USAF introduced the Phantom, and the Supersonic Tu-22 had just entered service. I could also sneak the Lightning F3 in.
To install, simply extract the CAMPAIGNS folder (or its content if it already exists) into the desired SF2 file in your saved games folder in My Documents. Seems fine with July2011 update so far.
Required: SF2 Europe +Expansion2 , SF2 Vietnam , SF2 Israel
Recommended : Stary's CE terrain update, Flyable F-104G, MirageIIIC(DLC)

This Installer will run a cleanup and renaming of old files
Namely Decals in the User Mod Dir.

Classified Mission Mod (Version 1.1)
By FastCargo
Classified Mission Mod authored by FastCargo
********** Version 1.1 ***********
Updated to be compatible with the Jan 2011 patch.
********** Version 1.0 ***********
This is a small mod designed around ONE mission. It's footprint is relatively small, but all encompassing and everything is designed to execute this one mission. Make sure you read the "INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS - READ ME FIRST.TXT" file and follow the instructions explicitly, or you will mess something up!
This is a complete modification to the Strike Fighters 2 sim (any of the SF2 series), and as such, is not guaranteed to be compatible with any additional mods or changes. Using anything from this mod, or adding anything to this mod, may 'break' the mod or the mod you are transferring stuff to.
In short, use it as a stand alone mod and don't screw with it!
************ Installation *************
What you will need:
1. Any of the Strike Fighters 2 series (SF2, SF2V, SF2E, SF2I or merged) patched to the June 2010 level.
*************Notes************
1. This mod's effect is based heavily on surprise, so I would recommend not reading anything in the 'To Read AFTER The Mission' until, well, after you've flown the mod. The mod quite deliberately restricts several things on the sim in order to increase the effect...nothing has been permanently disabled or broken. So don't post that I broke your sim...
2. Enjoy it, look for some easter eggs, and definitely read the notes in the 'To Read AFTER The Mission' for some background information, disclaimers and credits...a lot of folks helped in making this mod.

Strike Fighters 2: War For Israel V2.1 Part 1
By Spectre8750

Strike Fighters 2: War For Israel V2.1 Part 1 of 2
Campaign For SF2:Israel. or
SF2,SF2:E,SF2:V with SF2:Israel Merged Install.
This is a Campaign i created to hit on the Possibility of the situation
in the Middle East coming to a head and represent the possible Air Battle.
The Campaign includes IDF, USAF, USMC, USN with Carrier support.
Also Egypt, Libya, Syria and 2 Mercenary Aircraft for Campaign play.
Installing the Campaign:
Campaign files with menu pics and Music files are included.
Also Included 3 Icon Files for the Main Dir to use with the Desktop Shortcut.
Extra Files are required: The E-3A.LOD's for the E-3 "Sentry" can be
found in Operation Desert Storm in the "ODS_part1.exe" file. You only need
the LOD's all others are already included. This Aircraft is not crucial but
fun to Include.
Make a copy of your "StrikeFighters2 Israel.exe" in the program folder
and rename it to "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.exe". Also make a copy of the
INI and rename it "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.ini" in the main dir.
Open the "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.ini" file and change it to read at
the bottom:
[Module]
ModuleDataFile=ModuleWFI.cat
DefaultTerrainData=IsraelME
DefaultAircraft=F-15A_Baz
This will allow the use of the Menu file ModuleWFI.cat that goes in your
program folder "Menu" dir.
Now Run the New "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.exe" and go the the
"Saved Game folder" "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael" and delete the "Aircraft"
and "GroundObject" folders. New ones will be created. I've included all the
Aircraft and Ground Objects including the Default SF2 Israel files so you
do not have to sift through them. You can add Aircraft later if you want.
Now Run the Menu Installer and point it to the program folders root
"Strike Fighters 2" Folder. Then Run the Mod Installer and point it to the
Saved Game folder root "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael".
Overwrite if it asks.
You should be ready to go.
Before anyone complains about stock planes in this mod the A-4N is From
the A-4AR Fightinghawk by RavenXXXX. And the Mig-27 is a modded version
using the stock usable Mig-27 skins, and is by lindr2.
Both can be downloaded at CombatAce.
I want to thank the Community for all their effort.

650404 First F-105 Losses for SF2V
By streakeagle
Three F-105Ds were shot down on April 4, 1965.
At least two of them were lost to MiG-17s from the 921st Regiment at Noi Bai.
These were the first US aircraft lost to VPAF MiGs in Vietnam.
Zinc flight of the 354th TFS was bounced while orbiting the Initial Point.
The lead pair of F-105s never saw the MiGs and did not respond to radio calls.
One pair of MiGs fired on the lead pair of F-105s and badly damaged them.
The trailing pair of F-105s evaded another pair of MiGs.
The damaged F-105s tried to divert to Da Nang, but could not make it.
Both pilots ejected at sea, but neither survived.
Zinc 01, Maj Frank Bennett in 59-1754, drowned before being recovered.
Zinc 02, Capt James Magnusson in 59-1764, was never found and declared MIA.

D. http://taskforceomegainc.org/m007.html (interesting but very inaccurate)
/*****Design*******************************************************************/
After extensive testing, this mission uses the following design decisions:
Written for a stock SF2V install, no mods required.
The stock environment does not permit multiple levels and types of clouds/haze.
So the only the haze and cirrus layer are modeled.
The F-105 mission is a STRIKE on the Thanh Hoa "Dragon's Jaw" bridge.
The initial aircraft positions reflect WSEG Report 116 Event II-1.
The F-105s are in an orbit at the IP, 10 miles south of the bridge.
The mission starts when the 2nd pair of MiGs are first detected by Zinc 03 & 04.
The lead pair of MiGs start very close to the lead pair of F-105s.
The lead pair of F-105s have poor pilot quality to simulate their unresponsiveness.
This almost guarantees that the MiG-17s will immediately shoot down Zinc 01 & 02.
The trailing F-105s are modeled as a separate flight with the same Zinc callsign.
This permits historical positioning of the aircraft and different pilot quality.
The player is flying as Zinc 03 (Zinc 01 of the 2nd Zinc flight in the game).
The MiG-17s have been broken up into two flights.
This permits historical starting positions and target objectives.
Two flights of F-100s were in the area and may have gotten one or more MiG kills.
However, the F-105s never saw them, so I have left them out.
Outcomes are typically very close to the historical results.
/*****Playing Tips*************************************************************/
The mission begins with the enemy very close at 7 o'clock and closing fast.
The first thing the player should do is jettison all ordnance and break hard.
The player should also issue a "break" or "cover me" command to his wingman.
If the player survives, try to support any other survivors.
Continuing the bridge attack after escaping the MiGs is the only way to "win",
but the game engine victory conditions should be ignored for this mission.
A true victory is landing at Da Nang with more than two F-105s.
It is possible to pick up some kills, but very risky, so consider disengaging.
In reality, the undamaged F-105s ignored the MiGs to help the damaged ones.
This extra knowledge allows a skilled player to escape and possibly kill MiG-17s.

It requires even more skill and luck to get one or more kills.
Of course, TrackIR makes this whole process much easier and realistic.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a Campaign i created to hit on the possability of the situation
in the Far East coming to a head and represent the possible Air Battle.
The Campaign includes South Korea, Australia, Singapore, Japan and USAF,
USMC, USN with Carrier support. And China, North Korea and Soviet Union.
Plus Mercenary.
Extra Files are required: The E-2C-R3.LOD for the E-2C "HawkEye" from
Skunkworks, all other files for that Aircraft are included and modded. Do
not overwrite the other Files. The E-3A.LOD's for the E-3 "Sentry" can be
found in Operation Desert Storm in the "ODS_part1.exe" file. You only need
the LOD's all others are already included. Also the F-16A(10) uses the
F-16A_Netz.LOD's not included but will work if You have SF2:Isreal loaded.
If not it is not crucial as it is for the Mercenary Player only and won't
affect the Game if not present. All other files are included and modified
and needed as is. If you modify included files, I can't guarantee results.
Also you will need to have the A-6A and A-7E Stock LOD's for both
'88 OLYMPIC CAP Single Missions .
Installing the Campaign:
Install as per the Knowledge base for Standalone Mods.
And Delete The Aircraft and Ground Objects before you dump these files in.
Also Included are Icons for the Main Dir to use with the Desktop Shortcut.
Make a copy of one of your SF2's EXE in the "Strike Fighters 2" Dir and
rename it to "StrikeFighters2 Modern Warfare Korea.exe". Also make a copy
of the INI and rename it "StrikeFighters2 Modern Warfare Korea.ini" in the
"Strike Fighters 2" root dir. Make sure they are placed in the "Strike
Fighters 2" Dir. Open "StrikeFighters2 Modern Warfare Korea.ini" file and
Change it to the following at the bottom:
[Module]
ModuleDataFile=ModuleMWKorea.cat
DefaultTerrainData=Korea
DefaultAircraft=F-15C <----can be any aircraft in the mod.
This will allow the use of the "Menu" file ModuleWFI.cat that goes in your
"Strike Fighters 2" "Menu" dir. It adds Screens and Music.
Then run the new exe once and go to the new "Mod" Dir it created and
delete all the planes in the "Aircraft" Dir. You can leave any or all that
you like. Do delete the Ground Objects in the
"StrikeFighters2 Modern Warfare Korea\Objects\GroundObject" Dir before
adding New Ground Object Files.
Also you need to edit the Options.INI in the "Mod"
Main Folder to reflect the Mod or You Will have problems with the Game
hanging or not closing properly. Example:
[instantAction]
AircraftType=F-15E <---needs to be an Aircraft in the Mod
MissionMap=Korea <---needs to be Korea
StartTime=16:30:00
StartDate=09/18/2015 <---should be a Date within the Campaigns Time Frame

AirDefenseActivity=NORMAL
FlyAll=FALSE
LoadMission=FALSE
LoadMissionFilename=????
MissionDate=2012 <---
StartYear=0
EndYear=2050 <---
EditMission=FALSE
Do this for all related Sections in the Options.INI.
I included an Options.INI if you want to use it.
Then Drop contents of the 7Z files into the new "MOD" Dir,
overwrite when it asks.
Now go to the new "Mod" "\StrikeFighters2 Modern Warfare Korea\Terrains\Korea"
Folder and open the KOREA.INI file and remove the semicolon in front of the
game you have loaded as follows. Example if you have SF2 Israel.
;CatFile=..\GermanyCE\GermanyCE.cat
;CatFile=..\Desert\Desert.cat

Operation Longbow (Desert 1983)
By JonathanRL
Operation Longbow 1.1
By JonathnanRL
As the 1975 Dhimar-Paran war ends with the exile of Parans Emperor, a discovery is made in the
deepest corner of Parani Mountains. A mineral mine, large enough alone to sustain the Empires economy
for generations to come have been discovered, much to the dismay of the Dhimari whose oil supply after decades
of war have either been spent, burned or sold.
As the eighties arrive, Paran have reinforced their Air Force with western jets, cut most of their ties with the
Soviet Union and become a member of the United Nations. Dhimar however does not trust the military buildup in the
region and argues that a pre-emtive strike to "subdue" Paran is necessary. The Kingdoms true goal, however
is control of the mineral mine.
The United States, seeing the need to aid their ally reluctantly sends Air Force and Marine Corps Squadrons to the
region in order to defend the Kingdom, should Paran attack.
On the last of Januari, 1983, A lone Parani Mirage strafes the American F-15s based at D3 Airfield. The next day,
The Kingdom of Dhimar attacks the Empire of Paran. Angered by the attack upon their Forces, Ronald Reagan
orders the US Forces to support the Dhimari Offensive...
You need everything but SF2: Israel Expansion Pack 1 for this Campaign. It is designed to work
in a Merged Installation and uses Aircraft from all four as well as Expansion Pack 2.
Optional Add-On Aircraft:
Theese Aircraft will be present in the campaign if you have them installed.
If they are not installed, others will take their place...
L-39C "Albatros"

(Special Operations Squadron Aircraft)
F-16A "Fighting Falcon" Block 1
http://column5.us/miragef.shtml
(SF1 Standard. Installation dependent on how much you want a USAF looking F-16.)
1.1 Change:
-Changed L39C version of Parani Air Force to L39 ground attack variant.
THANKS TO:

Operation Eastern Foothold (Desert 1956)
By JonathanRL
Operation Desert Foothold
by JonathanRL
In 1956, right before the engagement at Suez and Operation Musketeer, Israel requested further Air Units in their
vicinity as added saftey in case more Arab Nations would join the War. Brittish and French Air Squadrons are
placed in the Kingdom of Dhimar under the pretext of training the Dhimarian Air Force. This is given further
credibility by offering a large number of Hawker Hunter Aircraft at low prices. Dhimar, feeling pressured
and threathened by the Empire of Paran, agrees and - as per contract - request Brittish and French aid
to defend their oil fields until such a time Dhimar can defend itself.
Meanwhile, Egypt who are fighting Israel are not fooled by this show. Suspecting that the French and Brittish
will be used to engage them in the near future, deployes a single flight of MiG-15s and encourages their ally
to launch a suprise attack upon Dhimar, promising them Dhimar and its oil wells if Paran succeeds.
The Empire of Paran Air Force consisting mostly of Spitfires and P51s with elite units flying Hunters and
possesing a considerable force of Canberras makes ready for the suprise attack against the outnumbered Allies...
Flyable Aircraft
French Air Force: Mystere IV (IAF Camo), P51, F-84F
Brittish Air Force: Hunter2, Meteor, Spitfire, Vampire Mk9
Egyptian Air Force: MiG-15
Installation:
Simply unzip into your Saved GamesThirdWireStrikeFighters2 directory.
SF2 and both Expansion Packs are required for this campaign. A merged installation is preferred.
Aircraft you have cockpits for are flyable, but abovementioned Aircraft are pre-set to be flown in Campaign.
To give a Aircraft a cockpit, open the Aircraft Cockpit you wish to use, Copy the CockpitDataFile=Hunter1_cockpit.ini
(This is an example, any will suffice), open the Ini of the Aircraft you cannot fly, copy the line under [AircraftData].
Voila. Flyable.
The F-84F Mega Pack is HIGHLY Recommended for this Campaign:

SF2: Europe Expansion 2 Campaign Flyable Aircraft tweak
By JonathanRL
Please note that there is now a Updated Version with Additional Aircraft & Nations added:
http://combatace.com/files/file/11553-sf2-europe-expansion-2-campaign-flyable-aircraft-tweak-11-nato/
This is a Tweak to make more of Thirdwires Stock Aircraft flyable in the Europe 1956 Campaign.
Added Aircraft (All are Flyable in Campaign if cockpit is added, instructions below)
USAF: A-1H, F-84F, P-51D
RAF: Canberra, Spitfire9e, Spitfire 9c, Vampire9
France: F-84F, P-51D
Contains the Campaign fix for the F-100A Super Sabre.
Warsaw Pact Air Force now also operates a few Squadrons of Spitfires,
used as standins for Soviet Props.
Just unzip into your merged Strike Fighters 2 Folder.
You need at least SF2: Vietnam and SF2: Israel Exp 1 for this mod.
Only tested on fully Merged Installation.
You have to make the aircraft flyable by yourself. To do this, simply copy the line:
CockpitDataFile=Hunter6_cockpit.ini
into the .ini of the Aircraft you wish to make flyable.
Oh, and Good Luck if you choose to fly the P-51D. You are going to need it.
Thanks to: Thirdwire

SF2: Europe Expansion 2 Campaign Flyable Aircraft tweak 1.1 (NATO)
By JonathanRL
Just unzip into your merged Strike Fighters 2 Folder.
You need SF2: Israel Exp 1 for this to work.
Only tested on fully Merged Installation.
I also very much recommend Soulfreaks F-84 Mega Skin Update Pack:
http://combatace.com/files/file/11551-thirdwire-f-84f-mega-skin-update-pack/
I have not tested this mod without using it, and using it would be a great thing for you to do. Trust me :)
You have to make the aircraft flyable by yourself. To do this, simply copy the line:
CockpitDataFile=Hunter6_cockpit.ini
into the .ini of the Aircraft you wish to make flyable.
For the Spitfires, I recommend using the P-51D Cockpit:
CockpitDataFile=P-51D_cockpit.ini
Contains the Campaign fix for the F-100A Super Sabre.
Warsaw Pact Air Force now also operates a few Squadrons of Spitfires,
used as standins for Soviet Props.
Added Aircraft (All are Flyable in Campaign with abovementioned modification)
USAF: F-84F, P-51D
RAF: Canberra, Spitfire9e, Spitfire 9c, Vampire9
France: F-84F, P-51D
Denmark: Hunter 5, Meteor8
Luftwaffe: F-84F
Netherlands: F-84F, Meteor8, Hunter4
Belgium: F-84F, Meteor8
My Tributes to the NATO Fighters & Mirage Factory teams.
Thanks to:
Thirdwire

NATO Fighters IV+: Post-Dec2009 Update Pack # 3
By Dave
-----------------------------------------------
NATO Fighters IV+: Post-Dec2009 Update Pack # 3 The French Connection (as ebruger68 calls it)
-----------------------------------------------
This package contains a third update pack for the NATO Fighters IV+ (NF4+) add-on designed for "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E) from ThirdWire. It does several things:
1) Adds a number of new aircraft and ground objects.
2) Makes several aircraft flyable
3) Adds several new textures to existing aircraft.
4) Adds or updates over 100 weapons and guns.
5) Fixes or updates numerous other files in the
original NF4+ mod.
This update pack should be applied to SF2E/NF4+ installations that are patched to the Dec2009 or later patch level -- including Feb2010, Mar2010, May2010, or Jun2010 -- and that already have the first and second update packs applied.
If you are running SF2E at the Jun2009b patch level and do NOT intend to update to one of the later patch levels mentioned above, you should NOT apply this update pack.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before installing this update pack, please ensure that:
- your SF2E installation is patched to at least the Dec2009 patch level;
- the original NF4+ add-on is installed;
- the first & second update packs (or patches) are applied to your
NF4+ installation.
The four original NF4+ installation packages can be obtained from CombatAce:
http://combatace.com/files/category/407-sf-series-add-on-missions-and-campaigns/
The first & second update packs can also be had at CombatAce:
http://combatace.com/files/file/11099-nato-fighters-4-patch-post-dec-2009-patch-level/

By Dave
-----------------------------------------------
NATO Fighters IV+: Post-Dec2009 Update Pack # 2
-----------------------------------------------
This package contains a second update pack for the NATO Fighters IV+ (NF4+) add-on designed for "Strike Fighters 2: Europe" (SF2E) from ThirdWire. It does several things:
1) Updates the NF4+ add-on to make full use of SF2's
new radar, ECM, ARM, and ECM pod capabilities.
2) Adds a number of new aircraft and ground objects.
3) Adds several new textures to existing aircraft.
4) Adds or updates over 100 weapons and guns.
5) Fixes or updates numerous other files in the
original NF4+ mod.
This update pack should be applied to SF2E/NF4+ installations that are patched to the Dec2009 or later patch level -- including Feb2010, Mar2010, May2010, or Jun2010 -- and that already have the first update pack applied. If you are running SF2E at the Jun2009b patch level and do NOT intend to update to one of the later patch levels mentioned above, you should NOT apply this update pack.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before installing this update pack, please ensure that:
- your SF2E installation is patched to at least the Dec2009 patch level;
- the original NF4+ add-on is installed;
- the first update pack (or patch) is applied to your NF4+ installation.
The four original NF4+ installation packages can be obtained from CombatAce:
http://combatace.com/files/category/407-sf-series-add-on-missions-and-campaigns/
The first update pack can also be had at CombatAce:

SF2:War For Israel Campaign Mod Update V1.02F
By Spectre8750
2010 July 12
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update for SF2:War For Israel (World Against Israel) Campaign Mod.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
History:
V1.0F update
You do not need this if you Downloaded the v1.0F
War For Israel Campaign file.
v1.0b:
Fixed the Mig-21MF Skin Directory name.
Fixed some weapons so that FireEffect shows up in
new version of SF2 series.
Changed Mig-29C Syrian skin for EricJ's "Syrian
MiG-29C Desert Splinter skin" to reflect campaign
region. Nice Skin.
Updated the TextureSet.ini for the German Mig-29C.
And Changed the Pilot in the MIG-29C_DATA.ini.
Changed The F-15D data ini Nation to ISRAEL. I know
these would be F-15I's but it's too long to Explain.
Steam and wake effects for Carriers should work.
v1.01F:
This is a cumulative patch with 1.0b integrated.
Added the Squadronlist to the PilotData dir as required.
Added Groundobjects not showing up.
Added effects to *data.ini's for aircraft.
Added and replaced some aircraft skins.
Added Flyable Israeli-U.S. F-16A Netz USAF 2nd Eagle Squadron to Campaign.
This was already in the campaign, but not flyable before.
Tweaked enemy squadron count a little but still a busy Campaign.
Fixed F-16I Sufa NoJettisionTank so external Tanks eject.
Added missing Mig-21 engine sounds.
Several F-15 fixes.
Several A-10A fixes.
v1.02:
Some Fixes and updates to the newer SF2 June 2010 Third Wire Patch.
Added The F-22 in by request.
Added MarcFighters Mi-8 which was orignally planned. Flyable but Suicide.
Added Syrian, Egyptian and New World Order Flyable Campaign Careers.
Added new Screens and Loadout Files.
Added HAWK's defence to Israel.
Added Grizzly's to Arab and Egyptian Forces.
Included updated GROUNDOBJECTLIST.LST to the the GroundObjects Folder.
Other Carriers Aircraft should work fine even if you're Land Based.
Changed all Hangar Screens to JPG format. You can Delete the old BMP's.
Changed Loadout images all to TGA's, can del old Loadout.BMP's
Other minor additions.
v1.02F:
Fixed Radar Cross Sections.
Fixed a couple Screens not showing.
Added Fuselage Vortex effects to some more Aircraft.
Updated F-15's FlightData's to FastCargo's Release.
Adjusted Engine Power to F-35's.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Install:
Install The Original SF2:War For Israel according to the ReadMe which is all
that's Required. It's ok if you've updated to v1.01F but not required....Then
delete the "Mig-21MF" Folder and all the "F-15s" Folders in the Mod "Aircraft"
Folder. Delete all the *.bmp's in the Campaign Mod Folder if using Original
1.0 Campaign or the 1.0b update Download. Drop the Folders from the Update
into the "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael" Mod Directory and let it Overwrite.
Remember when you use the Third Wire patches, You will need to use a new
renamed SF2 "EXE" to "StrikeFighters2 WarForIsrael.exe". Backup the Mods
Directory files first, then move them back to the Mod Folder after running the
newly named exe then deleting the contents of the Aircraft Folder. Overwrite.
Deleting the GroundObjects is not necessary.
Also I recommend Using Stary's SF2:Israel terrain update. Awesome!
Put it in the SF2:WFI Mod Terrain\IsraelME Folder in the Mod Dir and drop my
Terrain\IsraelME\INI's in on it and Overwrite, but use his IsraelME_DATA.INI.
Thanks

Alternate 1986 Red Storm campaign for NATO Fighters 4+ Dec 2009 Patch and Beyond
By Dave
This will add DO's carrier to use with TMF new F-14 Tomcat mod. Also uses Kess's USS Tarawa LHA-1. For that it uses AV-8B DA. I made a Det of VMFA-542 of 4 AV-8B's to be launched from the USS Tarawa.
You can get the Tomcat here.
http://combatace.com/files/file/11076-mirage-factory-f-14a-and-f-14b-tomcat/
The LHA and carrier are already in the mod for you. The campaign files have been modified. Just install the F-14 yourself.
To install:
Extract to an empty folder on your desktop. Then drag and drop the files into your SF2:Europe NF4+ install and let it overwrite any and all files. *Caution* if you have a modded squadronlist.lst, back that up as it will overwrite yours.
Only install this if you want carriers ops.
Idea based on Kulbit80's mod in which I used his carrier coordinates.
Enjoy.

660629 First F-105 MiG Kill for SF2V
By streakeagle
June 29, 1966 was a pivotal point in the air war over Vietnam.
Restrictions on bombing in Hanoi and Haiphong were lifted by Washington, D.C.
The first targets were major POL storage depots (Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants).
The USAF struck Hanoi and the USN struck Haiphong on this day.
About 56.8% of North Vietnam's POL storage capacity was destroyed.
However, another significant even took place on this day.
An IRON HAND flight of four F-105s was bounced by four MiG-17s.
Two F-105s were damaged.
One MiG-17 was hit and last seen diving into a cloud just above the ground.
This MiG-17 became the first confirmed kill by an F-105.
The pilot was Maj. Fred L. Tracy of the 421st TFS, 388th TFW.
He was flying in F-105D 58-1156, callsign Crab 02.
/*****Sources******************************************************************/
"MiG Killers" by Donald J. McCarthy, Jr.
Brief synopsis of the aircraft and pilot involved.
"Clashes" by Marshall L. Michel III
Detailed but generic account of the action, no name, units, etc.
USAF "Red Baron" WSEG Report 116 Event II-15
Incredibly detailed account.
/*****Design*******************************************************************/
After extensive testing, this mission uses the following design decisions:
Written for a stock SF2V install, no mods required.
The stock environment does not permit low level clouds experienced that day.
Only the higher level clouds are modeled.
The initial aircraft positions reflect WSEG Report 116 Event II-15.
the mission starts when the MiGs are first detected by Crab 04.
However, the AI cannot be "bounced" as was historically the case.
So all F-105s are immediately aware the approaching MiG-17s.
This means that the MiG-17s do not get the first pass on Crab 01 and Crab 02.
It also means that Crab 02 does not automatically get a point-blank free shot.
It does lead to the correct situation of trying to clear MiGs from tails.
The historical F-105 mission is SEAD until the arrival of MiG-17s.
This forced the F-105s to jettison their ordnance to evade attack and engage.
So the flight leader, Crab 01, has been placed on a SWEEP mission.
This makes the AI flight leader drop all ordnance and focus on the MiGs.
The player is flying as Crab 02.
Presently, players can only be the lead aircraft in a flight.
So, Crab 02 is modeled as a separate flight assigned to ESCORT Crab 01.
The player cannot issue commands to any other aircraft.
The focus is realistically shifted from MiGs to protecting the flight leader.
To win the mission, the flight leader must live.
As in reality, MiG kills are just an added bonus.
Crab 03 and 04 are also a separate flight.
This permits historical initial positioning of the aircraft.
The default game formation is too close together.
This is also necessary due to the player being assigned as a separate flight.
Otherwise, Crab 03 would end up in the wingman position of Crab 01.
Crab 03 and Crab 04 are also assigned to ESCORT Crab 01.
This largely makes them act as members of Crab 01's flight.
The MiG-17s have been broken up into two flights.
A three plane flight and a single plane flight.
This permit historical starting positions.
Historically, the F-105s got separated.
Each pilot made decisions based solely on what they saw or heard.
Some F-105s disengaged while others were still fighting.
This is an added advantage to having one flight get broken up into several.
Each flight decides to fight or flee independently of the other flights.
This permits outcomes that are very close to the historical results.
/*****Playing Tips*************************************************************/
This extra knowledge allows a skilled player to easily kill all of the MiG-17s.
The first thing the player should do is jettison all ordnance.
Then the player should maneuver to cover the flight leader's tail.
The flight leader, Crab 01, is very close and to the right of the player.
Crab 01 can be observed to jettison his ordnance at the start of the mission.
Historically, Crab 01 broke to the left, but the AI breaks to the right.
Next, a decision will have to be made:
Follow and protect the flight leader, or engage any MiGs encountered.
Play the mission several times following these restrictions.
Once used to it, the player will learn two skills critical to real pilots:
1) Visual scanning discipline to focus and pick out distant contacts.
2) Situational awareness to mentally track planes not within view.
Good hunting!

Historic mission: First jets kill over Israel
By guyran
Historic mission: First jets kill over Israel
After IDF attacks on terrorists bases (Fedayoon) in the Gaza strip on August 1955, the EAF start penetrating the aerial borders of Israel. On September 1, 1955, a formations of four Vampires has crossed the border into Israel, northern to the Gaza Strip.
Captain Aharon Yoeli in a Meteor FR-9 (no. 36) and Captain Yoash Tzidon his wingman, from the 117 first jet squadron, were inside the cockpit, on the runway of Hatzor AB, in an intercept standby.
As soon as the aerial control unit has identified the invasion, the two Meteors were scrambled. They were vectored into an intercept course with the approaching EAF Vampires.
During the airfight that follows, over the Mediterranean Sea coast, near Ashkelon, two Vampires were killed by Aharon Yoeli in Meteor 36.
The EAF command soon announced that, two Vampires on a training mission had mid air collision.
This was the first jet kill ever, by the Israeli Air Force, and the first air kill since the 1948 war of Independence.
Flyable aircraft:
IAF Meteor F-8
EAF Vampire FB52
To install:
Unrar into a separate folder.
Drop everything into the similar folder on the SF2I Exp1 mod directory, overwriting files if asked to.
Enjoy
