    1. 1680 x 1050 Mainscreen modification for SF2 (EXP2b Dec 2010)

      1680 x 1050 Mainscreen modification for SF2 (EXP2b Dec 2010)

Just a first & simple attempt to make the SF2 series GUI more attractive, after my failed attempts to convert various nice menu mods for SF1 series (especially Kout's) or the very nice stock WOE one, for SF2.

This is just a generic main screen modification (having Europe in mind). If i have time and won't loose interest in this, i may try extend the modification to specialized versions for Vietnam, Israel, Europe and go even further with the changes and work in all screens as well.

Till then i am including the .PSD file also, feel free to play with it, (eg change the background image to your taste)

    6. Alternative Hangar Template for Eagle114th Screen Overhaul

Alternative .PSD Template for Hangars /  Eagle114th Screen Overhaul (1920x1080)

This is a Photoshop template for making your own hangars to use with Eagle114th Screen Overhaul
I really want to keep my aircraft collection sorted, so when i saw Eagle114th's work i decidded to make some changes and include some more info about every aircraft (i keep them separated by country / service branch)

      How to Use:
This template contains 4 masked Groups, 1 what-if stamp and 1 text layer.
Drag and drop your aircraft photo inside "Main Photo" Group, then press CONTROL + T to position and scale it inside the viewport, if necessary hide other layers inside this group.
Select current manufacturer / service branch / flag or drag and drop your inside the relevant  group (note that i've included a few images like Argentine, Brazilian and UK Flag)
Hide or Show the "What-If" layer (it contains a stamp in the upper right corner, as you can see in some screenshots)
Use the Text tool on the bottom text and type aircraft name
      Save as .JPG

      Requirements:

    7. Counters & screens for SF2: Korean Air War

I had once worked on several annual campaigns for the mythic Korean Air War Complete Mod for SF1, uploaded at CombatAce by Edward in 2005. I planned one campaign for each of the years 1951, 1952 and 1953, with actually one UN-sided and one Red-sided campaign for each year, six campaigns in all. Though the R&D work was very advanced, I have given up since long, and for the moment, I don't plan to reinvest time in this project before long. Yet there were many related works that I could deliver here for SF2:KAW after a swift conversion in picture format:

A batch of colorful, reduced-size counters, devoted to each of the nationalities significantly present during the Korean War, 1950-53. Besides having a more attractive map and less confused stacks, you can also find more easily the units you're after. As a rule, the counters with rectangular national flags and brigade/division/corps/army devices show the ground units, while the counters with roundels concern the air units.
Lots of screens initially intended to be linked to the campaigns I planned, now converted to jpg format (start screens, daily missions briefings, or campaign victory/ draw/defeat debriefings).
For each of the six planned campaigns, a briefing synopsis, and three end-of-campaign debriefings in case of victory/draw/defeat.

There is no notice about installation. Just consider everything graciously given here as raw materials to be renamed at will for building your own campaigns. Some new materials could also be uploaded in a next future.

    8. Counters & screens for SF2:WW2Pacific

I had once worked on a campaign for SF1, set in the Marianas, June 1944 (using Wrench's map). I had let it aside, then discovered that The Dev A-Team had perfectly completed this project within its free mod for SF2 full-5 merged: WW2Pacific, and its Expansion Pack 1 (available as usual at Capun Skunkworks). Yet, I'd like to provide here some recyclable marginal works I had designed for this campaign, updated and complemented for an SF2 release, which could be a fine graphical addition to The Dev A-Team's mod:
A batch of colorful, reduced-size counters, devoted to each of the nationalities significantly present during the War in the Pacific – but also expanding to the CBI Theater (China-Burma-India). Besides having a more attractive map and less confused stacks, you can also find more easily the units you're after. As a rule, the counters with rectangular national flags and regimental/divisional devices show the ground units, while the counters with roundels concern the air units. For several nations, alternative counters are included to cover the different periods of The War when the aircraft skins or roundels changed.
Lot of screens and related texts, initially intended to be linked to my own Marianas 1944 campaign (screens are converted to .jpg format, and includes some alternative screens). Screens and texts cover: openings, daily missions briefings, and campaign victory/draw/defeat/KIA debriefings, for each side.

      Bon appétit !

This is a modification of the stock, SF/Wo* F-104G hangar screen to match the format used in SF2.

It's a rather simple addon, but adds just that little 'something' for you to look at whilst in the Hangar.

These screens can also be used on the CF-104, CF-104_72 and CF-104_76.

    12. F/A-18E/F OEF/OIF Historical Loadouts ver 2.3

A small file that updates the FA_18F Loadout.ini with a few historical loadouts that I found and setup from various reference pictures I have on my hard drive. Some are by squadron as it seemed they all had their own ideas as far as what was used in the referenced period of time. The PDF readme has a graphical representation of the loadouts for easy reference.

If you have any other pictures PM me and I can add it, along with the time the photo was taken. Note an E version is in the works and will be included when I update this file.

    13. Fleet Defender Gold Theme for SF2 (1600x900)

      Description:

This Fleet Defender Gold theme is a set of menus and music for Strike Fighters 2 in widescreen format: 1600x900. While the basic Fleet Defender theme has been done before for the SF series, Fleet Defender Gold hasn't been represented...until now. The CD-based FD Gold had a MIDI rock theme and early 3D video introduction to the Windows 3.x/95 installation, albeit it ALWAYS skipped. Using Audacity, I was able to fix that issue following track capture. FD Gold's theme seems to have fallen by the wayside compared to the basic DOS music, and it is unfortunate, since it has a great MIDI track. Well, it's back! Fleet Defender Gold still ran the main game in DOS: it was really just a combination of the original FD and its scenario disk, but was Windows compatible for installation and featured a few extras as well: a training section, videos from Aviation Week's "Flight Deck," previews for MicroProse's upcoming games, and most interestingly, the recording of the MiG-23 shoot-downs from the Second Gulf of Sidra incident.

      The Package:

The main screen attempts to recreate "Bio" Baranek's famous picture of a VF-2 F-14A in a 30-degree nose up climb, which was used as the cover photo on the game box (albeit with a 1970's era Bullet) and utilizes the Windows FD Gold intro theme. The Single Mission, Loadout, Options, Pilot Record and Roster screens use the actual FD game background music. Campaign start screen uses the FD DOS Intro music. Mission Successful/Failed/Player Killed utilize the FD Mission Successful/Failed music, and the Credits and Medals screens use the FD Mission Successful music (akin to the Top Ten and Credits of the original game). A set of 1600x900 menus have also been made.

      -------------

      Installation:

NOTE: The theme was tested on an All-5 Merged install, patched to July 2013.

      =============

CAUTION: If you didn't see in the description, these menus are in 1600x900 widescreen format! If you're using a different screen ratio, they probably won't work right. I will get around to doing a standard format in the future.

      =============

      In order to install:

1.) Copy the contents of this archive to a temporary folder.

2.) Create a new folder in your main Mod Folder (e.g. C:\Users\Name\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Europe) called "Menu" (if it doesn't already exist).

3.) Copy the contents of your temp folder into the Menu Folder.

      4.) Launch the game!

      OF NOTE:

If you can't support the 1600x900 format, or if you want to keep the default or other menu screens, you can still use the Fleet Defender music by only installing the .wav files and menu .ini's. To do so, only copy the .wav and .ini files to your Mod Menu folder.

      -------------

    19. Medals & musics for SF2: Korean Air War

When Edward's Korean War mod for SF1 had filled a gap in the world of combat air simulations, I had then participated with a dedicated Medals Pack. Now the range of available models for SF2 expands at lightspeed, a new all-inclusive KAW mod for SF2 may soon be laid, and I'd want to be a part of it too. A former work of mine had proposed new counters and screens for SF2, now I'm delivering a Korean War Medals Pack that is a largely expanded version from my former set of national awards for SF1 (also including anthems and musics). The decorations sources are: stock SF2:E, stock First Eagles, Charles' Medals Pack v2.0 for SF1, my own works for Wings Over Vietnam, and many new personal creations devoted to that mod. The complete lists of now available awards are displayed below. You will notice that North Korea and Communist China are still missing, I could try to update in a later future...

    20. Medals Pack for SF2: WW2 Finland

This pack is intended to complement The Dev A-Team's all-inclusive mod Strike fighters 2 WW2 Finland, dedicated to the aerial campaigns over the Gulf of Finland and the Barents Sea during the Winter War and Continuation War. You are given here extensive lists of awards with related medals and citations, and a handful of minor assets (alternative lists of ranks, counters, etc). Of course, all of this work could also complement ShrikeHawk's mod about The Continuation War, available at CombatAce's downloads for SF2.

Three Medals lists have actually been designed for the Finns, the first one related to the Winter War (1939-40), the second to the first part of the Continuation War (1941-42), the third to its last part (1943-44). The earlier lists grant much more lenient criteria to be awarded the same distinctions you could also receive after 1942 spending more sweat, but above all prevent you to receive awards unavailable before they were established. For instance, besides harsher requirements, the 1943-44 list adds the Order of the Lion of Finland, established by the end of 1942, and also makes a few German decorations available when the Nazis at bay tried to forge closer ties with their loose co-belligerent.

In the same way of thinking, two Medals lists are provided for the Soviets, 1939-42 and 1943-45 (several older designs before 1943, many new orders established mid-42 and awarded by 1943, harsher requirements for awarding after 1943). Of course, the WW2 Soviet packs could be used with The Dev A-Team's all-inclusive mod for SF1 Wings over Russia, and for any mods involving the Soviet Air Forces during WW2.

You’ll just have to juggle with national Medals Lists according to the period of the War when you plan to start your campaigns. Regarding these lists, everything has been especially designed, when swapping files during an extensive career, for the decorations you were awarded with an older list both to be preserved with original look and citations, and not to be awarded a second inappropriate time thereafter. Don’t worry, everything is meticulously explained with several examples in my notes.

As you can notice on the screenshots, I chose to have the citations display the decorations’ names in original language without subtitle. Who can read Finnish here, raise your hand? Be easy, the awards you deserved are still announced in English on the Debrief Screen, and listed in English on your pilot’s Medal List Screen.

    22. Menu X (EU)

Menu X (EU) is a menu screen project for Strike Fighters 2: Europe that replaces the default (4:3) menu screens (loading screens and icons) w/ widescreen (16:9) photographic alternatives.

The file contains a small program by the name JSGME (JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler) which can enable or disable the mod when used correctly. It's optional but highly recommended.

The Saved Games folder should be extracted to "C:\Users\(Your User Name)". If you don't wish to use the JSGME program simply copy the various folders from the folder MODS and move them to "C:\Users\(Your User Name)\Saved Games\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2 Europe".

The Fonts folder contains the required fonts used by the GUI. Simply drag/drop the respective files to your Windows fonts library.

I've also included both an alternative Windows shortcut icon and a PNG for those that use a dock program. Both can be found in the Desktop folder.
