Replacement texture for "Warbirds" F-4E_86:
After I'd uploaded it, Dave noticed the very tip of the nose and the pitot tube were painted incorrectly.
This replacement f-4e_5.bmp will fix that, adding the black at the very tip.
Instructions for use (as no readme is included) A screenshot can be seen in this thread:
http://combatace.com/topic/62412-phantom-tail-markings/page__view__findpost__p__474058
Unzip to a tempfolder or dessktop or where that's easy to find.
Then, simply copy/paste the f-4e_5.bmp into EACH of the 3 skin folders (377,378,379) Allow for the overwrite.
that'll fix ya' right up!
sorry for the slight incovience! And thanks to Dave's much-sharper-than-mine eyes.
Enjoy!

F-4E (86) Phantom II Skin Set - 45th TFW "The Warbirds"
-- For SF2 (any/all) --
This skin/decal set is designed for use =ONLY= on the TMF F-4E ARN-101, as this
is the proper airframe for the time period depicted. You can find/download the
aircraft at the following URL:
http://combatace.com/files/file/9268-mirage-factory-f-4e-phantom-arn-101-for-sf2
-series/
You MUST install this aircraft first, before applying this skinpak.
This is a fictional skin, representing the 45th TFW's 3 squadrons, as seen in the
Richard Herman novel "The Warbirds". The novel tells the story of a fictional
Persian Gulf war, wherein the 45th are (basically) the only US Air Power in
the region. I won't go into the storyline, but since it all revolves around a
Phantom unit (the book says it's the last USAF Phantom unit, btw), and EVERYONE
love Phantoms ... it's a no brainer, eh?
The 3 Squadrons of the Wing are represented. They are:
377th TFS
378th TFS
379th TFS
They carry the tail badges as when assigned to RAF Stonewood. After much
discussion with the Resident Experts , it was decieded that the 45th's
deployment to Ras Assanya was just that -a deployment-, and they would still
carry the codes from their parent unit or base. Each squdron also has it's own
tailfin color flash.
A slightly modified Loadout ini is included, with some weapons changes (back to
Iron Bombs ). In reality, these late-model aircraft were used more on PGM
delivery (ie: laser guided bombs) than 'dumb-bombs'. The Dumb Bombs fit more with
the descriptions in the book.
As always, READ the enclosed readme for full, detailed instructions. This package
has been broken down into the various folders that SF2 needs, to make it a LOT
easier to install (read: drag and drop).
Don't forget to read the "Notes & Other Nonsense" for various and sundry
ramblings of a madman, and Full Credits.

EF-4C 'Phantom' WW IV 81st TFS Skin Pak
-- For FULL-4 Merged SF2 (Prefered) and/or SF2:V/SF2:E =ONLY!!!=
(it can acutally be used in any SF2 install that has the access to the F-4C_67)
This is to fill a request presented to me by daddyairplanes, to add a new skin for the 81st TFS, 52nd TFW, USAFE, based at Spangdahlem AFB from 1973-79ish, where they were the only SEAD-dedicated squadron in theatre. The EF-4Cs were replaced by F-4G WW Vs, which were in turn replaced by F-16CJs. Even though the 81st now flys Hogs, but, ya get the picture! <grin>
It is designed to add to the "sf2 EF-4C Update Pak" released recently. You can find the update pak at CombatAce, at the following URL:
http://combatace.com/files/file/11630-ef-4c-phantom-wild-weasel-iv-for-sf2/
It should be noted, that =THIS= skin is for a European based squadron, so if installilng into a stand-alone SF2:E -make double damn sure you have the F-4C_67 avialabile on you planes list!!!!! (Merged installs, and those users that have run the SF2E.exe to create a SF2E mods folder should have the aircraft already) When in doubt about mods folders, consult the CA Knowledge Base.
As always, READ the enclosed readme for full, detailed instructions. This package has been broken down into the various folders that SF2 needs, to make it a LOT easier to install (read: drag and drop).

Please read update below if you have installed Jan 2011 Patch, Update......
A fictional skin for ThirdWire’s SF2 F-4M so you have to have ThirdWire’s SF2 F-4M in game or it will not work.
Just copy into your F-4M folder, stock folder, will only work in ThirdWire's F-4M Folder. Uses stock lods, decals and weapons by Thirdwire.
Thank You to TK and Thirdwire for the games.
To CombatAce for a place to upload and download files.
Warning, again if you do not have ThirdWire's SF2 series games with an F-4M, the skin will not work.
James Fox.
21/01/2011 Update;
---------------------------
Warning,
If you have not patched to Jan 2011 and do not have a game with Thirdwires F-4M, or you have not downloaded my skin, then this will not work and you do not need to do this.
This is a fix-up for my RAF Desert skin. All you have to do is copy and paste this F-4M folder into you Thirdwire Aircraft folder. It will prompt to overwrite, let it, it should not effect anything but correct a folder naming conflict.
Thirdwire has released a new skin of their own to the F-4M folder with the Jan 2011 Patch which has the same name as my Desert skin. So I have renamed my Desert skin and included the correction to add Thirdwires new skin as it should be.
Skin Folders should look like this when you are done;
DESERT
RAFCAMO1
RAFCAMO2
Plus the F-4M configuration file which I have also corrected to correct my error.
Sorry for the inconvenience but I should have known better and not followed Thirdwires naming conventions.
PS, I have included a little decals edit which allows stock serial numbers to be shown on Thirdwire F-4M models fuselage only.
For some reason Thirdwire has not included them on the fuselage, they are only on the underside of the wings.
Thanks to TK, Thirdwire and CombatAce.
James Fox.

SF2 Read Me:
Sundowner was kind enough to give me the "OK" to upload these excellent skins!
Copy/paste the contents of each folder to the proper folder files.
Make sure you make the added changes to your "textureset"
I name the decal folders after the "stock" Kurnass_78 folder (IDFCamo 1). If you want to adapt to Kurnass_73 or_75, you need to make the name changes and decal changes accordingly.
Note: The decals files does not really need to be added... Since Sundowner did a great job on how the skin is apply to the model.
But in case it does not work for you for some reason it is best to add it to your decal folder.

****457th TFS/301st TFW 'Spads' Skin Pack****
You have downloaded a little repainting job for two aircraft, including the first skin I ever did. These are meant and intended for the stock ThirdWire models of the F-105D_66 and F-4D_78.
These are skins for the 457th TFS/301st TFW, based out of Carswell AFB, right across the lake from my childhood home. I saw both of these aircraft fly over my home more often than I care to count. They are an Air Force Reserve unit. From Vietnam to 1981, they used the F-105D and then made the transition to the F-4, using the D-model first. Later, they would use the E-model Phantom, but only for a few years before finally converting over to the F-16C. Today, they operate the F-16C Block 30 and have seen service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Read the README for installation instructions.
Here's a skin I thought I'd already uploaded but had'nt....thanks to Stingray77 for the heads up.
Just unzip the VF-111 skin folder to your desktop or somewhere convenient, inside you'll find a folder called "Objects" just copy that entire folder to your SF2 mods install, all the files will be added to your F-4B_67.

F-4E (78) USAF Indiana Air National Guard Skin and Decal Pak
= For SF2 (Full-4 Merged Reccomended)
*Note: can be used in any install with access to the F-4E_78*
Slight modifications to a 1stGen skin pak done by Joe "DrDoyo" Royal in 2007, to bring it to SF2. This is my way of saying "Thank You". And remembering and honoring one of our own.
This skin is the "Egypt1" 2-tone gray camo from his 3-skin pak. I chose this one, as more aircraft (according to his notes) were in this pattern than the others.
The skin has had some very small tweeks, to fill in some bits, and is renamed to fit the _78 model Phantom. I made the assumption (oh! that word!) these would have been the variant he worked on in the Indiana ANG. If I'm wrong, my extensive apologies! With a simple rename of the skin bmps, it can be used for any/all F-4E variants.
All decals were done by DrDoyo, and reflect 100% accuracy for the aircraft depicted.
Randomization is set the "TRUE" for the 25 tail numbers (it might even work!).
As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. So, please read them!! DrDoyo's original readme is included, as it has nice personal historical notes. Any mistakes/errors are all mine.
Happy Landings!!

VF-74 Skin for the SF2 F-4B.
This corrects one of the main faults of the USAF Skinpack in the DLC store, white tailcodes! I also have included many additional units as well as a Word document detailing which tactical units flew the Phantom in its later service with the USAF. I also have included many of the improvements from my previous post Vietnam pack, as well as my mostly finished squadronlist.ini. That ini is set up so that there will be minimal interuption from future patches, and DOES include all tactical Phantom phlyers, at least in US service.
NOTE: all paint schemes came about in 1978 or later. as such i have not included any units that did not fly the Phantom in that timeframe. If you pick a Phantom unit that changed over after 1974, it will have a blank tail!!!
ALSO NOTE: a few of the ADC units (like the 111th FIS of the Texas ANG) used a different system for serial numbers than the skins in here. Please read the document on Phantom units before griping that i missed someone!!!
Installation is same as usual, unzip, copy to mod folders and allow overwrite.
Finally, with one exception I have not included the skins themselves. To all the oldtimers here, i know that skins are usually fairgame. However, given that is the point of this DLC, i opted not to include the whole skin to avoid pissing off TK and getting skins locked. The exception is the F-4C_67, as he did not include that in the DLC.
I hope that you all enjoy this mod.
Kevin Unruh
aka daddyairplanes
As the title says, this adjusts the SEA scheme in game to accept the later year Units. Earlier Phantom models have a second skin named SEA73, while later models just have their decal ini's editted. I have also included the effects, weapons and sounds from my Post Vietnam Pack as well as some new loading screens. This also includes the 95% finished version of my all ube squadronlist.ini, now with many place holders so that patching should not throw the squadrons into disarray.
Created in Full5 merged, but should work in any stand alone SF2 version except for NA. Will need SF2Europe for the D and E _75 and _78.
Install is the same as always. For further questions please consult the readme.
Any issues with tailcodes, please post a screenshot with your question or gripe. And do remember, this is meant for after 1973, so the tailcodes will not be the same.
In fact many Vietnam era users will have blank tails as they no longer flew the Phantom after 1973-74. If you want that user, regular USAFCamo1 is left alone for all models prior to 1975.
I hope you enjoy this mod!

History of the Norm 81 camouflage:
Since the mid 70ies German fighter pilots from Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen" and Jagdgeschwader 74 "Mölders" increasingly complained about the old one-fits-all aircraft camouflage of the Luftwaffe called Norm 72 (Standard 72, named after the year of introduction). Its large geometrically arranged areas in olive-green and gray worked well camouflaging an aircraft on the ground and even in low level flight over the equally geometrical fields of Germany. But the dark colours also drew massive attention in high altitude combat. Worse, the oversized Iron Crosses and serial numbers with their high contrast black and white lettering made the aircraft even easier to spot.
In the later 70ies, Luftwaffe command encouraged its fighter pilots to develop new paint schemes. “Richthofen” and “Mölders” in particular were eager in devising trial camouflages. Most of them massively reduced the greens and put stronger emphasis on grays, while shrinking the markings a lot. (I do not know if it was intentional or not, but some resembled WWII Luftwaffe interceptor camouflages.) These were to become the basis for the official Norm 81.
Norm 81 was to be used by fighters and fighter-bombers alike, and applied to Phantoms which were upgraded to Peace Rhine-standard. When they were upgraded to ICE-standard, Norm 81 was replaced by the more modern Norm90J – the first German paint scheme intended for fighters only.
Description of the Norm 81 camouflage:
The aircraft camouflage is dominated by two shades of light gray (Lichtgrau, Steingrau) on the lower surfaces and the sides. Only the upper surfaces of the wings and the topsides of the fuselage along the spine and the engines were painted with three dark shades of gray (Quarzgrau, Basaltgrau, Staubgrau) and one shade of green-gray (Grüngrau). The early schemes deliberately featured soft edges for the colours blending them better into each other. Later this was given up, as weathering did that job rather well, too.
The national markings were reduced in size and number; the Iron Cross was applied top to the left wing and bottom to the right wing, and on both sides of the fuselage. Early in the 80ies, the old Norm 72-warnings continued to be used, until replaced with toned down warnings.
For flight safety some aircraft sported high visibility markings, most notably when transferred to low level fight training in Goose Bay, Canada. These markings could be painted on the top fuselage, under the nose, on the wing tips and on the stabilizers varying in size and colour. Many crews seemed to favour red or yellow, but green or blue was seen often as well. Only few had white or dayglow markings.
Norm 81 was used in two variants, A for geometrical shapes on the wings, tail and the fuselage downside, and B for rounded shapes. B seems to have been the preferred choice by the units.
Advise on the use of the skins in SF2:
The combination of soft colour edges and Norm 72-markings makes these skins suitable for campaigns set in the early and mid 80ies. However in the late 80ies they would look rather out of place.
Skins included:
I included one Norm 81B skin for every German wing equipped with F-4F:
Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen"
Jagdgeschwader 74 "Mölders" (flying 'denamed' as JG 74 today)
Jagdbombergeschwader 35 (flying reorganized as JG 73 “Steinhoff” today)
Jagdbombergeschwader 36 (disbanded today, flew as JG 72 in its last days)
Requirements:
You need the F-4F (80), but the skins should also fit on the F-4F (ICE). Also, F-4F and F-4E may work more or less.
Installation:
Just unzip and drop the folder in your SF2 mod directory, usually it is:
C:\Users\xxx\Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 yyy
