  1. Tu-22M3 Backfire-C for SF2

    Tu-22M3 Backfire-C for SF2

    This mod package contains the Tu-22M3 from HoneyFox/Insky Group, updated and converted to SF2 standards. Included are all the effects, weapons, sounds, pilots, and seats that you will need to install and use the aircraft in this package.

    This aircraft can be used in SF2, SF2E, SF2V, or SF2I. To install and use it, you should ensure that your SF2 installation is patched to at least the Dec2009 patch level. See below for installation instructions.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Installation
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    To install, simply drag the \Effects, \Flight, \Objects, and \Sounds folders to your SF2 Mods Folder (NOT the folder that the game installs to). By default your Mod Folder should be located here:

    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\[username]\My Documents\ThirdWire\[Game]\
    Windows Vista: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[Game]\
    Windows 7: \Users\[username]\Saved Games\ThirdWire\[Game]\

    ...where [username] is the account you log into within Windows and [Game] is the name of the particular game mod folder that you're moving the files to. If the aircraft is not showing up in your Single Mission Aircraft menu, then you didn't install all the bits correctly.

    2. Fixed incorrect Afterburner.tga reference

    3. Added referenced B-1B sounds from B-1B Redux package

    4. Added correct version of Kh-22

    5. Added damage texture

    6. Added B-1B_86 cockpit (replaces C-130J cockpit in the original)

    7. Adjusted attachment positions for several weapon stations

    8. Changed Armor.Thickness and StructuralFactor values to more reasonable numbers

    9. Added new dirty exhaust effect

    10. Added new Hangar, Loading, & Loadout images

    11. Added tail numbers to vertical tail

    12. Other minor fixes/corrections

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Credits & Acknowledgements
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    This package largely consists of work done by others and released previously in other packages. All I did was assemble the package, update the bits to SF2 standards, and make a number of fixes, adjustments, and additions (discussed above).

    If I have neglected to credit anyone, please let me know -- it will be fixed ASAP. A copy of the original ReadMe for the Tu-22M3 for SFP1 from HoneyFox/Insky Group is included in \_OriginalDocs (along with several other original items). Any errors in this package are mine alone, so please do report bugs and inaccuracies to the CombatAce.com forum.

  2. SF2 Lavochkin La-17n & La-17R

    Lavochkin La-17n and La-17R for Strike Fighters 2

    La-17n:
    Ground launch conversion of the basic La-17 target drone equipped with RD-900 ramjet engine.

    La-17R:
    Ground launched reconnaisance version with stretched fuselage, camera bay and powered by an RD-9BK turbojet.

    FLIGHT MANUAL:

    These are drones but you crazy test pilots can fly them and have some fun. :P

    These La-17s have some unusual features like a double landing gear (skids).

    By default the drone start on the runway with the retractable gear extended, with the right nose up position for take off. About 20°.
    Now, the AI don't make any use of the JATO unit, but you can.

    TAKEOFF:
    Leave the throttle to idle, and activate the JATO with the key used for thrust vectoring the Harrier nozzles down. The rockets will blast you right in the sky and will burn out in about 3 seconds. During this quick process, set the engine thrust to full power. After 5 seconds from the start you can discard the empty rockets by Ctrl-D (Drop tank jettison). Retract the invisible gear and proceed with the mission.

    Note: for the sake of limitation of the game engine the La-17n have turbojet parameters instead of the true ramjet since the AI can't take off or carefully use an engine that simply offer no thrust at 0 speed and basically the thrust increase directly to the speed. TESTED and DISCARDED.

    LANDING:
    Do not extend the gear, you have skids on the engine belly and on wingtips just like sailplanes.
    During final approach, shut down the engine and descend gently with a speed of about 270Km/h. Once close to the ground and about 240Km/h pull up to kill speed and let the drone gently stall. It will still be under control and will descend quite gently upon touch down.
    This procedure was applied since the ramjet directly absorbed the impact and limited the damage to the airframe. The engine usually was already good for scrapping by that time anyway.
    On the turbojet models there was an airbag to absorb the impact. And the engine on the recon drone was intended to be reused as much as possible.
    AI would do just fine using the retractable gear. ;)

    WARNING!
    Both drones are set to SOVIET, in case someone want to have the La-17n target drone set as opponent, you have to change the NationName= in the DATA.INI. But you're still free to fire at friendlies ;)

  4. Vertical Pack for Soviet Navy

    Soviet Navy Vertical Pack 1.00

    This is the first complete version of the Vertical Pack, now including the Yak-41M (also known by its commercial designation as Yak-141). I have modeled the plane as if it was deployed into combat units with its military designation Yak-41M. The plane served aboard the aircraft cruisers Novorossiysk and Baku, and on the aircraft carriers Tbilisi and Riga, from 1991-2010.
    This is a fine tuned or modified collection of everything I could find to improve the planes.
    I lot of time was invested in research and testing to provide you a working and accurate Yak-38/38M and Yak-41M. All feedback and suggestions are appreciated.

    Install

    I tried to include every component I have used with the planes, so it should work with a fresh unmodded SF2:NA. If you have DirX 9 and Win XP, then you also need Gerwin's IcelandNA modded terrain for XP to be able to play SF2NA on your PC.

    Just copy everything into your designated add-on folder and it should work. Beware it may overwrite existing add-on files and components you already have. Check it first, especially weapons.

    - Yak-38/38M loadouts modified with Delta-NG
    - Added separate MDB2 rack with RackSpecific entry for Yak-38 outer pylons. This way other aircraft (Yak-41) can use the normal rack.
    - Yak-41M uses afterburners on VTOL mode correctly (effects added)
    - Modified MBD3-U6 rack, changed the bomb sequence in order to avoid using the RackLimitOutsideOnly setting for Yak-41M.
    - Kiev aircraft cruiser STOL version has been added. It uses a more realistic launch arrangement. This "variant" of the ship is now Kiev (82) class, added separately for campaign use. In 1982 pilots have started to use STOL takeoff doctrine. The "catapult" launch places has been reduced to two, and are using the majority of the deck, along the two converging yellow lines which have this exact purpose. The ship otherwise the same like Kiev (wo. suffix) VTOL mode.
    - Separate Flight Manuals in text files.
    - Yak-38/38M flight model has been simplified with the usage of center-of-mass shift. I did not know that feature earlier. It has no change on the previous flight performance.
    - Mi-8T added lights and optional unarmed version without pylons.

    - Yak-38 VTOL flyable.
    - Yak-38M VTOL flyable.
    - Weapons: OFAB-100, 250, 500 etc from SovietBombPack; Kh-23 missiles, UB-8M, UPK-23 gun pod and MBD2 racks from Ordnance Shop II; APU-60-1 rack from Cocas

    - Three Kiev_data.ini's one for STOL and one for VTOL style take offs. Use the VTOL loadout file for the VTOL take-off modded Kiev, for safety reasons. The third INI has a "castrated" take off position #1 (Catapult 1) to enable human player VTOL take-off, for Soviet Navy campaigns and missions.

    Fixes

    - Fixed engine thrust vectors and exhaust positions
    - Re-added lift engines to fuselage
    - Fixed number decals position
    - Fixed pylon ordnance positions
    - Fixed Ranging Radar and gun pod's aim point

    Changes

    - Real thrust data added based on factory data.
    - Yak-38 automatic slats by Gepard
    - New vertical capable flight model, weight and torque balanced airframe.
    - Changed lift engines thrust angle to 80 degrees to the aft.
    - Engine thrust toned down by 10% to reflect real payload lifting capabilities.
    - Realistic payload choices added. Be warned, pylons are physically capable to hold much heavier payload than the plane can take off with. See payload info at the end of file.
    - Modified weapon stations to hold realistic payload
    - Removed plane numbers from 01-09 (Those were in use of Yak-38U two seaters)
    - Modification of plane numbers. Yak-38 tend to have lower numbers, grey 38M's take higher numbers, and extra easter egg))) (roughly to represent real planes)

    - Extra parking places added
    - 6 working launch places (catapults)
    - Fake arrestor cables untouched, they are needed for fake hooks used by AI Yak-38s.

    Overwrite Kiev_data.ini with the desired file.

  5. SF2 Antonov An-2 "Colt" by Pasko

    SF2 Antonov An-2 "Colt" by Pasko 9/1/2013

    = For SF2 (Any/All; Full5 Merged Reccomended)

    *Note: this mod will probably NOT work in SF/Wo* 1stGens at any patch Level*

    Modifications, tweeks, partial reskinning and redecaling for Pasko's An-2, bring it (more in line) with SF2 levels.

    Included are the 4 skins, most still in their 1stGen tiny sized bmp format:

    Aeroflot
    Soviet Green
    North Korean Black
    Polish Camo

    The Aeroflot skin was partly redone, to remove the painted on registration number; 17 new historically accurate number decals were created for it. Decal randomization is TRUE for all skins.
    See "Change List" below for more details.

    This aircraft includes the data ini posted by Dave on the CA boards; I don't know who built the FM, but it's MUCH better now!! However, further fine tuning MAY be requried, as during testing, I experienced wingman crashings on take off. Be Advised!
    Control/O (Oh, not Zero) opens the cargo door on the side. Weapons are NOT included.

    As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! PLEASE read the "Notes" section for the change list.

    For those that have the 1stGen releases, it's advised you delete, or move to a storage disk or elsewhere, the aircraft and decals folders for them; this pak is desinged to replace them in total. For those having this aircraft from other "all inclusive" mods pack, you may wish to review this pak before installing it over your existing aircraft. For saftey's sake, and all that kind of stuff.

    **The aircraft herein are released in "AS IS" Condition. Any and all issues/problems that cannot be solved via ini edits will exist forever, as new models are unlikely to be created**

    Happy Landings!

  7. Tu-142 'Bear-F", Indian Naval Air Service

    Tu-142 'Bear-F', Indian Naval Air Service
    = For SF2 series Games, Full 5 Merged and/or SF2NA ONLY!! =

    -An addition for the Indo-Pak Mod-

    *As stated above you MUST have a Full-5 Merged install with SF2:NA to gain access to the Tu-95RT lods this mod requires. If you do not meet this minimum requirement, do =NOT= download this, as you'll be unable to use it.*

    Ini mods, redecaling, etc, of the stock SF2NA Tu-95RT recreate (a passble) Tu-142 Bear-F as used by 312 Squadron "Albatross" of the INAS. All textures are jpg format; this should pose no issues for users at the latest patch level (April 2012 or later)

    Although a cockpit IS provided, it's "suggested" that the aircraft be left under AI control. Several 'issues' have recently appeared on non-radar equipped cockpits for player use. I built this, basically, to have something 'interestering' parked around the large airbases.

    As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. Please READ them!
    Also, the "Notes" section for more details, as there are a few small differences in the INAS Real Life ™ version, from the 3W one.

    Good Hunting!

  8. Yak-15 for SF2 Series

    Hi, this is my very first upload to CA, i just put things together and made it to work in SF2 standard, almost everything has been made to put it in the respective mod folders, if you are prompted to overwrite, please do so, the only part you need to work with, goes to the Soundlist.ini which you need to extract and place it in the flight folder, and add the following lines:

    SoundFileXXX=NS23................ XXX standing as the next number in the sounds sequence.

    [NS23]
    Priority=NORMAL
    Looped=TRUE
    NumBuffers=4
    3DSound=TRUE
    DopplerEffect=FALSE
    MaxDist=1000.000000
    MinDist=50.000000
    InsideConeAngle=360
    OutsideConeAngle=360
    ConeOutsideVolume=0..............this goes at the very bottom
    of the sounds list.

    This mod is uploaded using the Freeware Licensing Terms by the Forum, but i want to thank to the following individuals:

    -Pasko for an outstanding aircraft model.
    -Kesslebrut for his cockpit and Yak-3 ini file.

  9. Lavochkin LA-15 Fantail for SF2

    *** LA15 for Strike Fighters 2 ***
    This is Pasko and Column5's Lavochkin LA-15 model. It has been updated to SF2 file structure based completely on

    their work. I have also added two LA-15 skins I made for this plane, added a different loading screen while

    keeping the original if you prefer, and have removed the shadow file and its callout since they are no longer

    needed, shadows showup just fine without the files! The plane has very basic avionics with no radar but a ranging

    gunsight. A userlist.ini have also been included. All the Ini's have been updated also to KillerBee's file setup

    including changing them all to Unicode for smoother gameplay. I have also added the Kor-vpa pilot from X-rays'

    Excellent World Pilots pack. The original WW2 soviet pilot is included if you wish. Xrays' readme for his pilot is

    included. And finally, the droptank for this bird is included and working!

    Any errors in all this is un-intentional. Please let me know of any problems or needed corrections. Keep in mind

    this is freeware made by your community for your use. You use it at your own risk. It is un-supported by TK and

    Thirdwire productions and is released under the CombatAce freeware licensing agreement. Do not use in any kind of

    payware without express permission from the owners of these files, namely Pasko, Column5, and X-Ray.

    Issues: None known at this time.

    SF2 updates pcpilot

    To install, Just simply open the zip file and copy paste into your SF2 mods folder. It flies well in-game but

    is not a turn and burn fighter; the F-86 can outturn it. It bleeds speed quickly in a turn. Its acceleration is

    very similar to the F-86 also...slow.

    God bless, pcpilot

  10. Yak-15 "Feather"

    The Yakovlev Yak-15, NATO reporting name: Feather, was a first-generation
    Soviet turbojet fighter developed by the Yakovlev design bureau (OKB) im-
    mediately after World War II.
    It used a reverse-engineered German Junkers Jumo 004 engine.
    Along with the Swedish Saab 21R, it was one of only two jets to be success-
    fully converted from a piston-powered aircraft and enter production.
    280 aircraft were built in 1947.
    Although nominally a fighter, it was mainly used to qualify piston-engine-
    experienced pilots to fly jets.

  11. il-38N "May"

    il-38N "May"
    The Il-38N is an adaptation of the four-engined turboprop Ilyushin Il-18 for use as a maritime patrol aircraft for the Soviet Navy. It meets a requirement to counter American ballistic missile submarines. The Communist Party Central Committee and the Council of Ministers issued a joint directive on 18 June 1960, calling for a prototype to be ready for trials by the second quarter of 1962. The fuselage, wing, tail unit and engine nacelles were the same as the Il-18 and it had the same powerplant and flightdeck. An aerodynamic prototype of the Il-38 first flew on 28 September 1961,with the first production aircraft following in September 1967. Production continued until 1972, when the longer range and more versatile Tupolev Tu-142 derivative of the Tupolev Tu-95 strategic bomber had entered service.This is the Improved variant sometimes referred to as Il-38SD for Sea Dragon the new search and tracking system.

  12. SF2 Tu-95 Bear-A Remod Pak

    SF2 Tu-95 Bear-A Remod Pak 10/4/2015

    = For SF2, Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED! =

    *NOTE: due to excessive changes and additions, this mod will =NOT= work in 1stGen games at any patch level*
    This is a Re-release/Re-mod of Veltro2k's Soviet Cold War Heavy Bomber aircraft, originally released in 2008.

    This pack represents the 'standard' Tu-95 Bear-A "conventional" level bomber (yes, it can carry one nuke -not supplied).

    The skin remains in its original bmp format and all markings are decals. All decals used reference stock 3W Soviet markings (thus, the NON inclusion of any decals). Decal randomization is TRUE.
    The inis has been completely revamped, with a "new" FM, avionics, loadouts, sounds, new pilot figures, and an "new" cockpit. The cockpit, while not a perfect match, is much closer to the "steam gauge" Bear pit of the era. See "Notes" section for full change list.

    On the Aircraft Selection drop-down, you'll see

    Tu-95M Bear-A (v2k)

    This will make it easier to select, and diferentiate it from any other Bear-As that might be wandering around in your backyard.

    As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Also, give the "Notes" section a read, in particular on Operational Usage.
    For those that may still have the original release (from 2008), as there HAVE been major changes and additions you may want to delete said original in it's entirety.

    **This aircraft herein are released in "AS IS" Condition. Any and all issues/problems that cannot be solved via ini edits will exist forever, unless a newer model (LOD) become available**.

    Happy Landings!

  13. SF2 Tu-114 Cleat (Airliner) Remod Pak

    SF2 Tu-114 Cleat (Airliner) Remod Pak 10/4/2015

    = For SF2, Full 5 Merged RECCOMENDED! =

    *Note: this aircraft replaces, in total, the one included in the SF2 Soviet Transport and AWAC Aircraft uploaded in 2013. If you have the Tu-114 from that pack, you are advised to DELETE that aircraft completely, otherwise there will be conflicts and complications. If you don't have it, don't worry! Also, this mod will most likely =NOT= work in 1stGen games at any patch level.*

    This is a (nearly) complete rebuild of the Tu-114 airliner (NATO codename "Cleat") as seen in the above mentioned mod pack. It has been (nearly) completely overhauled, and is designed mainly to have something other that the usual An-12s and Li-2s (C-47) seen parked around your Red Airfields ™.
    See "Change List" in the Notes section for all the changes and fixes.

    All new decals, with 12 historical Aeroflot/Soviet registration numbers were created. All markings are decals and decal randomization is TRUE. The skin is now in jpg format.

    On the Aircraft Selection drop-down, you'll see

    Tu-114 Cleat

    As always, fairly easy to follow, detailed install instructions are included. PLEASE read them!!! Also, give the "Notes" section a read, in particular on Operational Usage.

  14. TU-104 Camel

    Tu-104
    The Tupolev Tu-104 (NATO reporting name: Camel) was a twin-engined medium-range narrow-body turbojet-powered Soviet airliner and the world's first successful jet airliner. Although it was the sixth jet airliner to fly (following, in order, the British Vickers Type 618 Nene-Viking, de Havilland Comet , Canadian Avro Canada C102 Jetliner, US Boeing 367-80 and French Sud Caravelle), the Tu-104 was the second to enter regular service (with Aeroflot) and the first to provide a sustained and successful service (the Comet which had entered service in 1952, was withdrawn from 1954-1958 following a series of crashes due to structural failure). The Tu-104 was the sole jetliner operating in the world between 1956 and 1958.
