+Gepard Posted January 3 Posted January 3 What do you think about this: Base Aérea Militar Río Gallegos I dont know why the Argentinians need a 4.000 meters runway. Have they an own Shuttle to land it there or was it an emergency runway for the american Shuttle program, like Templin in East Germany was it for the soviet Buran? 11

snowburn Posted January 6 Posted January 6 BAM Río Gallegos uses the same runway as Aeropuerto Internacional Piloto Civil Norberto Fernández. In 1980, it hosted the first trans-Antarctic flight from Río Gallegos to Auckland. Later, in 1987, this became a regular route operated with Boeing 747 aircraft. Sadly, the route was cancelled in 2014. https://www.marambio.aq/vueloaerolineas.html https://www.aviacionline.com/tbt-el-vuelo-transpolar-de-aerolineas-argentinas-en-1987 (links in spanish, sorry) 2
+Gepard Posted January 9 Posted January 9 A first try to make a better tile of a town on the sea for Tierra des Fuego terrain. It is only a test, to see, how it could look and whether it is possible to combine 256x256 pixel tiles with 1024x1024 pixel tiles. I'm not yet satisfied with this tile. Here the comparision between old and new tile. 7
+Wrench Posted January 9 Posted January 9 one thing that's always been needed on 3W terrains -- better single city-2-sea tiles. "one piece does it!" the original looks like 1700s, undeveloped early colony. the new one more 20th century -- nice roads, infrastructure, etc. Like it! (having made a bunch myself) 4
3-A-305 Posted Saturday at 02:21 PM Posted Saturday at 02:21 PM Thinking a bit about the ground campaign, I think it would be better to include at least two air bases per side. Later on, this could be modified by adding bases such as Río Gallegos, Puerto San Julián, Puerto Santa Cruz, Puerto Natales, etc. But in order to have a minimal, functional campaign, it would be possible to start with something like this. The objective of the campaign is to take full control of Tierra del Fuego (that’s why Punta Arenas is left out of the strategic nodes…). Any thoughts? 2

The terrain there is not good for a ground battle and it could be, that the game engine will decide, that forces there could be "encircled" and lost. Instead include Estancia La Marina in the strategic nodes network. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I'm still testing "town at the sea" tiles. 6
+Gepard Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Perhaps someone of our south american friends can answer my question: Which versions of the F-86 Sabre were used by Chile and Argentina?
+Gepard Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Somewhere i have heared, that Chile got Canadair CL-13 Mk.6 from West Germany in mid 1960th. 1
+torno Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Chile never operated the Sabres, Argentina usted the F86 F40 2
