No, data and pictures for most, if not all of all of the ANG Huns operators received their Huns in Air Force Marking in 1961 and the unit specific markings such as the "red swoosh" came along 1964-65 time frame before going to USAF SEA Camo during the 68 time frame due to mobilizations to support the Active Duty operations.

It makes sense considering most aircraft coming from the Active Duty side aren't up to the Air National Guard markings standards till some time after arrival at their squadrons. This was also supported by 184th crew members I spoke with.

yes maybe you are right..

but some things do not add...

all other ANG squadrons that I researched always come up with USAF markings around 63. And according to  The Air Reservist magazine issue from 1963 (February) page 10 - under new regulations, Air Guard units would have to remove ANG and state names from the nose sections of their aircraft’s fuselages and replace them with “U.S. Air Force.”

Also, from your package hangar screen - the photo that you used suggests it was made around 64-65. This F-100C has 54- serial number and is already 10 years old due to 0- prefix. So it can not be markings from 1961... And the aircraft is bearing already US Air Force markings with Minuteman on the tail

And keep in mind (yes, I forgot about it on many occasions too - only Wrench is correct always in his mods) that serial numbers and USAF titles are painted in insignia blue FS15044.  And according to T.O.1-1-4 it can be substituted (if needed) by gloss black 17038. But generally, insignia blue is the right color.

And looking forward into next ANG squadrons mods.

Great information....

I have several photos identified as being taken in 1965 which shows ANG units still wearing Air Guard Markings which is what caused my confusion.....

This one says 1961....so you'd be correct.

This photo was in 1965-1966 time frame so I'm inclined to believe you.

Guess an update is in order for this package!

@yakarov79  Your attention to detail and historic authenticity is among the best; thanks for sharing this information and contributing to a better outcome for all.  And of course @CSomers611 for welcoming the insights and hopefully creating another update soon.  But enough of this ANG, let's get back to the 'Nam combat movers next - just kidding, kind of...😉

I try to be as accurate as possible and am glad others assist and redirect me as I get lost!

@swambastYou say 'Nam Combat Movers....

I did these just for "What-If" fun......

F-100D's of the 1st, 22nd, and 602nd Special Operations Squadrons, 56th Special Operations Wing 1968..... I believe the original A-1H skins are from @Trotski. I just wanted something for fun and back to my Air Commando Days!

Not always, but thanks for the compliment! Originally, I WAS using  black! Until, I too, found out it's supposed to be Insignia Blue (in most cases!)

Just in case you don't have it, and want to make a 'new swatch of said color', the RGB values for FS15044 are  33/48/66

Don't forget to check the downloads section, I THINK I placed them under Templates, are a package of color charts from Simmers Paintshop com, now not longer with us.
