snapper 21 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Hi all quick question, what is your opinion on hit boxes and collision boxes are they important for the game? TKs seem to be a bit hit and miss no pun intended.  The other question, is this going to overboard?  Should I step away from the ini file? Any opinions welcome  Cheers  Snapper21  1
daddyairplanes Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago even with the lodviewer, hit boxes can be time consuming. my hats off to those that work on them. if you want to put teh time and effort in to make them that much, knock yourself out!

Wrench Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Yes, I've found TKs are well, to put it mildly, way the hell off on a lot (btw, I fixed the Skyraider some years ago). AFAIK, using the Zeke example, that is about right. I know it's related to component damage, so having the regions set of said damage is important. Having done more than my share of those adjustments, yes they are important  edit: as that's an A6M2, if you add armor, use 2 mm aluminium for the fuel tanks, NO self sealing, and MAYBE 2mm aluminiium to represent the wing skin 1

Yes, some stock aircraft don't have precise ones. 4 hours ago, snapper 21 said: The other question, is this going to overboard?  Should I step away from the ini file? For the ODS 30AE mod I personally fixed and improved collision points and hit boxes for over 100 aircraft, both stock and third-party. It is no walk in the park and it isn't funny, so I won't suggest others to do the same for such an amount of aircraft. Thanks to mue's LODViewer we can edit them much easily and very precisely, but it takes times. 2
yakarov79 Posted 31 minutes ago Posted 31 minutes ago Go for it. But i would suggest a light approach. Look at that A6M2....wings hit boxes of wings? too thick in my opinion. Fuselage...covering too much empty area. Stabs - too thick. I noticed that many hitboxes, especially in swept-wing airframes, cover like 60% of empty area...well then you wonder why I am falling down?..- your evil red side AI just hit your empty hitbox... So try to find balance in that work, if you decide to go for it. Here is TW F-100 with stock hitboxes compare the HB of the stock nose....with my edit below....stock covers huge area of thin air in front of the cockpit.... and my edits....which - I still have a feeling that are too large....
