Does it have a internal bay in order to load AIM4 Falcon?

About the AIM2 genie , it was transported in the fuel tank pilons, am I right?

No missiles on the A or C.

Just dropped this baby in to my WOE install (without fuel tanks or nukes).

Used the F-101A for two fighter sweeps.

First sweep, I took a MiG-17 head-on and got him... but he flamed one of my engines which eventually blew me up.

2nd sweep, I got me 2 MiG-19s and a MiG-17, one of my wingmen got a MiG-19 as well.

I lost two of my wingmen.

As a fighter, flies a lot like an F-104 with no Sidewinders and less maneuverability, but also less drag (seems to retain energy and accelerate very quickly with afterburner and nose down especially after a bit of fuel has been burned). Realistic, maybe... fun and challenging, definitely!

I think the F-101B will be like an F-4B/F-4C (gunless missile platform) with less maneuverability, worse radar, and much worse missiles.

AIM-4s are really too weak to take down bombers and too many launch/maneuverability restrictions to be of any use against fighters.

The F-101B could prove to be one of the most challenging US interceptors to successfully employ in this game.

It will also be one of the coolest looking ones (though the F-101A/C is a bit more attractive with a sharper nose and smaller bubble canopy).

This is an awesome mod for an awesome aircraft.

Many thanks to everyone involved.

I just wish this plane had been available from the day SFP1 was released.

Now, we just need the F-102 to complete the Third Wire Century Series: F-100, F-101, F-102, F-104, F-105, F-106

If you include the F-111, then maybe the F-110 (F-4C) should also count... the F-117 would be a real stretch.

I am also interested in the "what-ifs": the F-103, F-107, F-108, and F-109, but will be content when I can take a screenshot of the true Century series on the ground and flying in formation.

Thanks Streak, I take it as a good sign of success if you are enjoying a perticular flight model. :blush2:

I'm torn on the issue of acceleration...I've always felt that the stock F-104 feels sluggish for a plane with its reputation for speed. I purposefully made the Voodoo slippery--I hope I didn't over do it.

I have been flying the F-101B for 2 days and you hit it right on the head. With AIM-4 IR and SAHM loadout, it took a ripple fire of 2 to take out a TU-16. An IL-28 it took only 1. But the ace up the sleeve has been the AIR-2. I know why they used it now. Very effective against bomber formations and their escorts.

slippery to use the term loosley, yes thats what I was thinking if the plane was to be compared to a car it is like a D-1 drifter only 3D in the sky. She does'nt like heavy fast input on the controls. Very fun to fly.

The Falcon was the USAFs (particularly ADCs) version of the Navy's J40 engine fiasco in that it seriously crippled a generation (or two) of aircraft. Look at the otherwise awesome F-106...

Like USN torpedoes in WW2, the Falcon may have suffered from PeaceTime Syndrome; a disease widely spread among Man's militaries. The Swedes vastly improved the Falcon so its said.

For my Siberian Sky campaign, which will include large scale use of F-101A in the penetration fighter role -- (need this Voodoo thanks!) -- I may similarly upgrade Falcons, but more likely make wider use of Sidewinders for F-101A. At high altitude, the Sidewinder alone may demolish the otherwise high altitude superiority of Su-7s, MiG-17s, 19s, and 21Fs.

The only way to find out is to finish the campaign and run some test simulations.

Ya'll fellas/fellattes may want to make future cockpit mirror bmp's a dark grey. TK moved away from blinding white mirror blanks for those not using mirrors, so they won't get blinded in night missions. I like to think TK saw the customers talking about the blinding white blanks on his forum, and changed methods to suit. TK really does respond BIG TIME.

Flew this bird ALOT today, I'm having a blast. It took some getting used to, but the F-101 is a rocketship, Light the burners and nothing can touch you. I loved leaving MiG-17s way behind in seconds, then a long turn and take another run at them.

I love how its so easy to stall and spin, keeps you on your toes and pretty realistic from what i've read. "Oh S%$&" was a common phrase today flying the Voodoo.

Everyone who worked on this Mod deserves a slap on the back and a cold one, You did an Amazing job, Thank You! :good:

wow, the F-101A/C are great!!!

i was yesterday totally under Voodoo-magic.

I flew strike and recce missions over Europa and China.

I really like that bird. nice to fly.

but i´ve got one question, how can i change the canopy glass?

it looks for me like there is no glass, and there is no tga-file for the glass...

BTW, this is another great add-on aircraft! Thanks to everyone who´s involved!!!

Streakeagle, we need subvariants now F-101B (yum missiles ), RF-101C and of course F-102, then we are "Century" complete. I'm not a fan of "what if's" (F-103, F-107, F-108, and F-109  )- but that's just my preference.

BTW - I agree with your opinion about F-101A/C flying capabilities - but hey - that's why they are replaced with F-101B and soon afterwards with more capable planes. But, they were quite good for time line, and surely they are excellent stuff ingame.
