Jasta 14 had a big day today. We went out with 12 Albatros D.II and D.III, to patrol south of the Argonne forest.

When A-flight had gone low already, to fly home, we sighted 4 French Sopwith Strutter, escorted by 2 Nieuport 17.

My 5 wingmen killed the Nieuport 17, before I could even intervene. Then we hunted the four Strutters down.

They had no chance. None of them returned. I got one. I shot off a whole wing. Then I watched him spiralling

down in his steep descend, to his inescapable end. He slammed in on an opening.

What a contrast - the fighting and the killing, and then the flying over a wonderful landscape in the sun...

Thanks so much, Olham,

for the advice.

I have just read your posts and immediately went into the Nvidea control panel to check.

The AA mode was set to over-ride the App settings, so ok there.

Monitor native res 1920x1080 selected in both control panel and OFF workshop, again ok.

But Anisotropic filter was App controlled, so I changed it - provisionally - to 16x.

Haven't tried it yet, will post the results.

Excitement !

Maybe 16x will be too high (it is very high and may use a lot of performance) - in that case

8x or even 4x for both AA and Anisotropic should look very good still.

I wish you good luck, Sid!

Excitement and...

dissappointment:

The last shot shows some strange "UFOs" that I have never seen before.

Anisotropic Filtering at 16x crashed so above shots at 8x . Clouds look

very good.

Hmmmm, think I'm going to take your advice, Olham, and reduce settings,

maybe go back to basics and start again.

Cheers

You see the wires and the crosshair - for some reason, the AA setting doesn't work.

Yes, try AA 4x or 8x; and Anisotropic Filtering 4x.

And search any setting that may disable AA. Good luck!

If you can, post a screenprint of you NVidia card settings - perhaps someone else can help.

If you can bear it, here are yet more DH5 screenshots.

I think they are much improved:

All very gloomy, bit like our summer here in Oz.

Simple fix. Due to my gibbering idiocy and lack of any common sense, while I

had configured OFF manager in the Nvidea control panel, I had not done so for

CFS3. Once I changed the settings to the same as OFF mgr...

To be frank, dear readers, I blame the drink and the drugs. (only joking, officer)

Cheers

Wow! Yeah - THAT'S what I wanted to see from your card, Sid! Now you got it right!

Look at that DH-5!

Don't make yourself down - many other users don't even know where to set up the graphics,

and I guess they are still nto idiots. We live in modern world where we all specialise on some

facettes, while we never get the clues for others.

As for drugs - I gave them up years ago, but my brain seems to work even worse without.

The really annoying thing, Olham,

is that since 2009 (!) I have been flying OFF incorrectly

configured. and simply not as good as it could have been.

And I take back the drink and drugs, this is down to

congenital daftness.

Thanks for the suggestions that lead to the solution.

Cheers

Here's some of my latest screenies after making some graphic tweeks and using Lou's/Olhams suggestions for Textures/AMD settings. Olham, your settings appear differently then mine in Catalyst. I don't have same options under anti-aliasing. Is this because I am Windows 7 32-bit? I'm upgraded to 12.3 (latest) drivers.

Looking much better RamblingSid. :good:

Great pics, Shiloh!

Have you updated your Catalyst drivers to the latest? (12.1 or 12.2 I think).

But I guess it depends on the features of the graphic card.

If your card cannot do "Morphological Filtering", then it may not appear?

But - to me your stuff looks as good as mine - so why bother?

Thank Olham! I've always admired your graphics so I'm glad you think my images are looking good. I wasn't really thinking in terms of what my graphics card had to offer vs what yours might offer. I thought everyone had the same settings options in Catalyst so that makes more sense to me now that yours would be different. My drivers are updated to 12.3.

I really liked the Tripe in quick combat mode. I shot down 3 Albs, about 5 balloons and attacked some airfelds and like the way she handles - almost like a Dr.1 in certain respects. So I started a pilot with RNAS-10 and we'll see how it goes. I may PM you later about some questions I have regarding flying as a 'serious' pilot.

Thanks Shiloh,

getting there thanks to lots of help from the OFF community.

One day I may be able to post action screenies as good as yours.

Guys, just a general query - I'm over the 3MB limit, how do I fix this

so I can post more pics ?

Have searched but can't find anything.

Cheers

I've been tweeking a lot of settings RamblingSid - trial and error - and I'm finally somewhat satisfied with the quality. It had been bothering me for some time so I'm glad I got some things figured out. Without Olham and others I'd be nowhere near this quality. Your shots are looking much better now if you can pause during combat and play around with some cool-looking dynamic angles, your pics will take on a whole new level.

To clear your images, go to your profile, click on your profile name (upper right), go to 'my settings', then on the left column 'manage attachments' and try deleting them. Good luck! :salute:

Thanks Shiloh.

Tweaking is good fun. Great results possible.

Reminds me of what happened when I had the car reflashed

and an EBC fitted.

Here's a look at my new pilot, Jack 'Cat' Harlowe. He's currently flying the Sopwith Tripe with RNAS-10 in March 1917. He has yet to fly a mission - QC only to this point - as I've never really flown the tripe before. I also made a bit of a custom skin for him - my first effort to date. I wanted to keep it real simple on my first go and I like the clean look. They call him "The Cat" or "El Gato" as he's real good at sneaking up on unsuspecting enemy craft going back to his early days as a flier. One of the guys said after a particular mission that he's stealthy like a cat and the nickname stuck.

You seem to have a tendency to loose a wingtip?

Great action shots again, Shiloh!

That Albatros you fought there was of the German ace Karl Thom, Jasta 21.

He survived the war with 27 victories.

Thanks Olham! I collided with one of my men while pursuing an Alb. I usually have good enough reflexes to avoid a direct hit which leads to a lot of missing wingtips. When I do QC I'll randomly pick an ace skin and this time it was Karl Thom.

I started using Lou's suggesting config settings for OFF in conjunction with the ENB series of video drivers that add a bloom effect, etc. The results seem to make things look softer and more organic. But most especially the clouds on a sunny day seem very bright, as if one were looking at them without any sun glasses on. Some might not like it, but I find it a very interesting effect. I posted some screenies before but here's a quick 1 minute video showing what it looks like in motion. Let me know what you think.

Looks Fantastic! :good:

I'm also using the ENB Series, the one which was included in Creaghorn's Homebrew. It's Version 0.0005, I think. I've tried several other Versions of ENB, but not all of them seems to work with OFF, because for newer Versions you'll need a "d3d8 to d3d9 Converter" (This has something to do with DirectX, but I'm not sure). There are newer Versions with much more better Lightning Effects, and I would love it to get them work.

Will try it again these days and I will make an Report if it works....

Hey, Hellshade, that looks rather good! The lighting effects lift the visuals appreciably. I've only an 8800GT so may be too much of an FPS hit for me. Must find those settings from Lou; may I ask, which EMB mod did you use?

.005 version of the ENB series. Actually I haven't noticed any real FPS hit on the performance. Hopefully you'll have the same good fortune. And yes, I have to agree that it really boosts up the visual experience considerably.
